Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.78/day in the week to Aug 4 → 1.14/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Aug 19: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

Mediocre story, the dumbest heroes of all times (basically everything they do plays into the hands of the villains), you have to pick your companions before starting the game and can't switch during your playthrough, and enemies become damage sponges from hell in the final chapters. Chapter 5 was particularly bad. It's basically a string of 8 boss fights. With a ton of padding, because the dragon you're flying around with in the overworld lands you on the opposite side of each area instead of right next to the boss arena (which would've been absolutely possible in most cases), so that you have to fight through the same packs of minions you've already been fighting the entire game over and over and over again before getting to the boss. Rating: ★★★☆☆
While the visuals of this game won't age nearly as graceully as its original counterpart (which is tragically only legally available on the Nintendo eShop), the gameplay improvements to it completely make up for any loss in visual appeal. The story isn't ANYTHING to write home about but again, this game is completely carried by its fun combat system and engaging class mechanics. Not every game you play has to be a 10/10 masterpiece and I feel like Trials of Mana is a very comfy action JRPG that sits at a comfortable 7.5/10 kind of experience.
This game has one fundamental flaw: it's boring. Nothing really stands out. The characters are bland, the story is bland, the combat is bland, the npc interactions are bland, etc. The only thing this game has going for it is all of the lewd mods, but that's not enough to save it. Skip and find a different JRPG to play unless you're nostalgic for this particular title.
It is easy to spot a review from someone who sprinted through Trials of Mana on "Beginner" mode just to say they finished it. While the vibrant, Saturday-morning-cartoon aesthetic suggests a light experience, there is a complex, gritty RPG engine under the hood that rewards technical mastery. If you treat this like a 15-hour hack-and-slash, you aren't just playing it wrong—you’re missing the entire point of the game. The Evolution of the Seiken Densetsu Formula: Many people try to compare this to Secret of Mana (SD2) and walk away disappointed because they can’t swap weapons on the fly. That’s like complaining a Ferrari doesn't have the cargo space of a truck. Secret was about utility; Trials is about identity. Characters being "stuck" to their weapons isn't a limitation; it’s a design choice that allows for the class tree. By locking the weapon, the game can fundamentally change how that character moves, strikes, and builds SP as they evolve from their base form into their prestige tiers. The 18-Hour "Skill Gap" Myth If you find yourself "mashing B and Y" for the first ten hours, you’ve ignored the Ability and Chain Ability systems. By Level 18 (the first Class Change), the strategy shift is massive. You transition from basic strikes to managing passive synergy. Unlike the spam-heavy magic of Secret, magic here is a tactical resource. If you think the magic is "limited," it's because you didn't build a party for it. A Dark-path Magus or a Rune Maiden turns the battlefield into a high-stakes elemental chess match. Class Strikes: These aren't just "special moves"—at higher tiers, they are animated tactical nukes that require precise SP management to chain effectively. The "Prestige" Tier and the True Narrative: The heart of this game is the Level 38 Class Change and the Tier 4 Post-Game content. A 16-hour playthrough is a "tourist" run. It bypasses the difficulty scaling that forces you to engage with elemental weaknesses, stat debuffs, and status ailments. The story only feels "hollow" if you refuse to engage with the specific character arcs and the high-level customization that defines the endgame. Final Verdict Trials of Mana is a theory crafter’s dream disguised as a colorful ARPG. It demands 30 to 40 hours of your time to truly breathe. If you want a game that plays itself while you click through dialogue, look elsewhere. But if you want to see how a 1995 masterpiece was modernized into a deep, rewarding character-builder, this is it.
