Townscaper has a beautiful art-style and it is a chill sandbox for what it is but what you see in the promotional material is what you get, there's nothing more to the experience than placing the same building and seeing it transform into another. Repeat You can change the colors of the buildings, move, rotate and zoom with the camera, screenshot in high quality outside of steam, change shader/lighting settings, adjust day/night and the option to export your construction as an .obj file; which is all great but given the little variation to what's happening during gameplay aka the placement of the same building, there’s not much going on in the sandbox to work with. At most I saw buildings warp into maybe 5 forms of complexes and trying to create parks/backyards/fields seen in the promotional material was a pain. I ultimately chose not to recommend the title due to its asking price and limited variation but for those who enjoy a short calming experience of building while experimenting & maximising what you can get with limited tools, Townscaper may be for you but I suggest picking it up during sales at $3.51AUD or your regions equivalent currency.
Great game! very cozy and fun to make stuff, I especially like the floating islands, but I wish the lighthouses lit up at night. thats a bit of a nitpick but the camera is also kinda finnicky, especially to get screenshots
I would recommend this game however I am SO disappointed that this game doesn't get updates anymore for it has so much potential for being a truly amazing game and I'm even more disappointed that this game doesn't a steam workshop page which for a game like this feels like a no-brainer so for those reasons I'm going to have to not recommend

There really aren't enough options for me to recommend. Always water, never a square grid, exactly one style of building. I like the idea of this type of thing, but this one really lacks some basic features for even a mindless city painter toy.
I love the game; it just needs grass, trees, and living things like people and cows, and even add things like light posts that can be put down in large areas, and some boats, oh, and signs and bridges. This game I would play every day if it had those things I want to be a part of This game, I am 14, and if you add people like I said or something like that, I would like to be in the game.
