IMPORTANT: READ BEFORE BUYING If you are wondering why Jalopy is left full of game-breaking bugs and will never get fixed, it is not because the developer gave up on it. It’s because the publisher, Excalibur Games, completely locked the solo developer (Greg / Minskworks) out of his own game. Here is the truth behind what happened: As the game neared full release, the publisher tried to force the developer to sign a contract to rush out a sequel in just one year. Knowing he couldn't deliver a quality game in that timeframe as a solo dev, Greg refused. Because he didn't agree to their terms, the publisher cut off his access to the game completely. They pushed Jalopy into a 1.0 "full release" themselves, leaving it broken and preventing the developer from ever patching or fixing the bugs. Since the publisher legally owned the rights to the IP, they hired an entirely different studio to make a clone called Road to Guangdong. They marketed it using Jalopy’s name, leading a ton of players to blame the original dev for a terrible cash-grab he had absolutely nothing to do with. The developer lost his sleep, his sanity, and his own game to a predatory publisher contract. He does not see a dime from these sales, and he is legally barred from fixing the bugs. If you want to actually support the developer, skip Jalopy and check out his newer game, Landlord's Super, which he made with a much better publisher who treats him right. This game was really fun, but as time goes by, the code will only continue to rot, and the bugs will get worse and worse, thank you for reading,
Uncle touched me when I was in the car. On a new note, the game was good.

TLDR : 6/10 fun but empty The game is enjoyable, you get a nice little experience that feels at times melancholic. There are some nice scenery and the little story you get through your in game Uncle recanting the past, as well as the letters he has at every city is touching, and you feel the papers please influence. Sadly this game falls through for many parts of the game, there are a clutter of visual glitches, there are still many bugs to name a few : if you buy two or more tyres at a time you have a chance that most of them will be sent to the backrooms and thus wasting your money, another bug is that you can buy a car upgrades more than once and that ends up just wasting your money, the only one you can buy again is the tool rack. The main thing that disappoints me is that the world feels just empty... and sometimes that's a good thing, but here it just feels boring. No little side quests, nothing to do in towns other than upgrade your car or annoy the other people sleeping at the motel for some quick cash (which you can abuse for infinite money). It's a shame because there is so much room for improvement to make this game REALLY worth your time. Apparently the devs have moved on to a new game and I wish them the best, Jalopy was a quaint little experience and I recommend it to anyone that enjoys calm laid-back little indie story experiences.

driving is boring, there is very little to do. the game is also buggy and has many visual glitches. the artstyle just doesnt look appealing at all, plenty of other games pull it off better. dont waste ur time of this snoozefest
quite a cool game if i do say so myself, i did play it before it even came out, i remember the dev put out an alpha version of this game (HAC) and i remember quite liking it, and even the full game did not disappoint.
i don't know why the recent reviews are mixed, this is a GREAT Game for the price, consider how much you are spending and what you are buying, i would reccomend this to anyone that actually enjoys games you have to TRY to accompish something in, that doesn't just hold your hand and give it to you freely.
