This is an excellent magic tower game that is heavily inspired by Tactical Nexus. Like TN, this game has a meta progression system, but this game is much more approachable. For the $10 asking price for this early access version, you will get way more value than the asking price in terms of hours. While the visuals may not be as flashy, this is a great accessible meta progression tower game that brings a lot of content for the asking price. I look forward to watching this project develop into the future.
A very clever "magic tower" game, that changes it up slightly. The positive and negative mechanic is a nice change of pace. The stages are clever and require a bit of thinking. Probibly the best starter for novices, as it can be quick to get into but not overwhelming. Nevertheless, do not mistake this as being easy! It is a brain buster for even the most experienced tower diver, at least for the higher scores and overscore.
A good starting point is those mobile ads where you kill enemies with a higher power than you and take that power for yourself. This game is like that but as a puzzle game. At it's heart Towers of Scale is a resource management game. You have enemies, either positive or negative, and you kill them in order to reach the items or enemies behind them and try to get your power as high as possible. This is a game which can be optimized to a higher extent than probably any other game you've played, and it's all at the exact pace that you desire it. Furthermore, based on your score on one tower (level), you get gems which can be spent to get buffs at the start of all towers to try and increase your score to get even more gems. It's an amazing gameplay loops which I'm glad to have enjoyed. The demo plays for around 12-15 hours. You should just try it for 5-10 minutes right now. If you like what you play, you'll like the rest of the game. The full game has around 20-35 hours of content for beating each tower, and around 75-100 hours of content for attempting to maximize your gems. I cannot recommend trying the demo of this game enough! Either you will not like it and have spent 10 minutes playing a demo you didn't really like, or you'll find a whole new genre of game which scratches the exact itch you're looking for in a game.
A really fun game inspired by games like Magic Tower or Tactical Nexus. If those don't say anything to you, then I'd say it's basically an optimization puzzle game with metaprogression that makes you go back to earlier stages for higher scores. So far "only" 2 chapters with 6 stages each + 3 bonus stages are out, but that is plenty when trying to score high and maybe find some secrets.
Demo save carries over to the main game. Get this 10/10
Good ToTS-like, currently a bit simpler mechaniclly (at least, for now...) but still has plenty of depth Definitely recommend if you enjoy the magic tower genre
(ignore my seemingly low playtime; I had 15 fun hours with the demo) Extremely satisfying. Amazing level design. This is Tactical Nexus Lite, which is exactly what I wanted because I love the concept but don't have a photographic memory and/or infinite time to play. The simplification relative to Tactical Nexus is very elegant. It's not easy or simple at all and the level design is just as good (better I'd say - it's cleaner, more focused). For me this is the sweet spot of difficulty/complexity. It is hard enough that you'll feel VERY good when you reach that next reward tier, in part because it rewards rethinking your existing strategy... which you are much more free to do here than in TN because of the smaller scale and less ridiculous micromanagement busywork. The demo is very generous, for sure that'll let you know if this is for you.
fun
Fantastic magic tower game
If you like Magic Tower / Tower of the Sorcerer-like games like Tactical Nexus, or you just like pseudo-puzzle games, I highly recommend this. It's less complex than Tactical Nexus, seeing as it only uses Power/HP and not ATK and DEF, but the depth and the implementation of mechanics more than make up for that; in fact, I'd say it's a lot easier to understand and get into, and is more fun to pick up and play on a whim. It's definitely a game that's easy to start, but difficult to master.
