Lara Croft is missing in Egypt - presumed dead. Those closest to her gather together at the Croft Estate on a grey, rainy day for a memorial service in her honour. Afterwards, the friends sit quietly together in the study of the Croft Mansion and reminisce about Lara's past exploits; exploits that have until now remained a secret..

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. Tomb Raider Chronocles seems to me more like an expansion to the fourth part or a DLC. First of all, you don't play a coherent story in this game, but several smaller episodes that are a kind of memoir of Laras earlier adventures, while the family and butler Winston mourn the tragic loss of our beloved archeologist. On the one hand, it's more of the classic Tomb Raider experience familiar from previous games, but on the other, it shows how badly this four-year-old concept has aged and was exploited one more time. Some ideas or mechanics, such as the diving suit in the second section of the game or the stealth mechanic in the last section to silently eliminate enemies are creative innovations and offer a lot of potential, but you quickly realize how little this potential is actually used. The levels are short, mostly relatively lovelessly cobbled together and the last chapter in particular is buggy as hell. Even the new features that the game has to offer only seem to have been added somewhere at the end, just so that you have them at least once. You can see that the development team that worked on this game had no motivation or passion and Eidos wanted to bring the game to market as quickly as possible. You can argue about the individual ideas of the scenarios, for example. The third chapter is set in Ireland with the young 16-year-old Lara, who has no weapons and the focus is on platforming and puzzles. In fact, it's all about quite surreal stories with ghosts, demons and other supernatural events and even though Tomb Raider is known for its supernatural elements, this section seems a bit over the top. Although I personally liked the gothic creepy atmosphere. The final section puts Lara in a Mission Impossible scenario where she has to break into a high security lab and fight cyborgs that look like the guy from Hitman. So that doesn't really fit in with a series in which you were originally traveling in historical locations and raiding tombs. But that's a matter of taste. I had the feeling that they were trying to introduce various pop culture elements from that time and satisfy their fans. However, the amount of shortcuts and half-baked ideas that the developers have put into this game is frustrating. If more time had been put into development the overall potential of the game would have been better realized. On top of that, problems from past games continue to occur and the inconsistent searching for solutions to puzzles are still present. The levels should have been designed more in the direction of the new mechanics so that it would feel more like an improvement to the franchise. Instead, we got this half-finished game with a lack of polish. And it's so bad that game-breaking bugs are also present. I don't know if this is the same as in the PlayStaion version of the game, because as a port it has caused numerous problems on the PC version, but I had a huge problem in the last level of the game to get through an exit door. When you save and reload the game, you trigger certain scripting problems so that the last door didn't open for me. For this reason it was necessary to load an older previous savegame and complete the last level without dying. In a level where you have a shortage of ammunition, tough enemies that can be only defeated by certain circumstances, numerous death traps and on top of that you are hunted by a helicopter shooting through the glass windows of the building... I really don't know how many times I had to reload the game to complete this section in one go. You can often forgive such flaws in games if the overall experience of the game is still somehow enjoyable. For example, I consider the fourth Tomb Raider installment as a good game, which despite the many frustrating elements was still a solid game where you can see that the developers have made an effort. But the last level in particular destroyed my experience and my already fading enjoyment for me, making it one of the games I would probably never touch again. And therefore I can't recommend it to anyone. Seriously, skip this game or try in in the Remastered Version. I didn't play it, but i assume they fixed many of the appearing bugs.

TB: The Angel of Darkness. Lo recomiendo.
Can't get passed the eidos interactive splash screen before the game stops responding and there's no information on the net for fixes other than verify files, which is obviously step one. I loved this game when i was 13 and was fully ready to dive face first into the nostalgia. Sadge.
The last Tomb Raider of the classic era. TRC is widely considered as a regular game at best, product of the impossible schedule of releasing a new game every year since the first one. I kind of disagree, this game is the shortest one and it doesn't really innovate a lot, but has for the most part very interesting setpieces. After the events of Last Revelations, this is a flashback game. Lara's old friends and his butler get together to remember four very different adventures of her past, each one having between 3 and 4 levels. The first one is in Rome, it includes a small tutorial area that can be skipped (although you will miss a secret and some items) and it features the return of Larson and Pierre from the original TR. The game is very ambigous in the timing of these events, could be a prequel to the first game, or not. Rome is classic Tomb Raider, a mix between the colisseum from TR1 and Venice from TR2. Next is probably the best set of levels, a russian military base and a submarine. The atmosphere is superb in the submarine levels, there's even a short section where you get access to a motorized scuba diving suit and you have to dodge torpedoes fired by enemy submergibles. The third section has you playing as teenage Lara in Ireland, the only gameplay change being that you don't have access to any weapons. The visuals are great, but unfortunately this section drags a lot, with long and useless cutscenes, obscure puzzles and the return of the dreaded swinging rope mechanic. Since you cannot hurt enemies directly, you have to restort to dodging or finding creative ways of dispatching them. The last section ties with Werner Von Croy story from the last game. Lara infiltrates his company skyscraper in order to get the iris, an artifact that was hidden as an easter egg in TR3 and was crucial at the start of TR4. This part is obviously inspired by the success of Metal Gear Solid, as Lara is constantly interrupted by a sidekick who gives intel over a headset. Weirdly, Lara has no access to her dual pistols so you have to take care of your limited ammo. There's also a lot of emphasis on stealth, with items like chloroform to help you avoiding alarms. As usual, Lara has a couple of new moves: tightrope walking (which is the slowest and most boring mechanic ever), bar swinging and a very welcomed forward jump when crouching. Regarding the bar swinging, they somehow forgot to include it in the tutorial and it's only used a couple of times during the last levels of the game. Surprisingly, there's no vehicles at all, but there's a gimmicky grappling hook gun that only shows up in the last level. It's generally an ok farewell to the saga into the 21st century. All previous TR games built new stuff into the last one, Chronicles is the exception. There's also the huge bugs and issues with the last level Red Alert. Be very careful with that level, bosses can get stuck, saving in specific rooms might break scripts, some explosive barrels might not explode. Keep a lot of saves because if you run into one of these bugs, there's probably no way to beat the game. It originally came with the level editor but unfortunately it was skipped in this release. A shame, even if it's outdated nowadays. Again, and with more emphasis than ever, don't play this bugged version. Go for the incredibly better remastered version in the second trilogy. Not only they fixed most issues but they also enhanced the square looking cubes more than all the other remastered games.
