Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered

the devs hated making it, I hated playing it 4 is okay until you get to alexandria, then it really starts getting old, 5 and 6 are slime

The remasters of 4 + 5 are good but you can tell that history has repeated and the devs weren't given enough time to properly finish remastering 6. For games themselves, 4 is a real mixed experience, it's way too long and you can tell the moment when the devs got fatigued / ran out of time. The 1st 60% of the game is fantastic and arguably the peak of classic tomb raider while the last 3rd is just a mess with some of worst, most obtuse and laziest level design in the series. 5 is... just kindof there, it feels like a quickly thrown together expansion for 4 with absolutely zero passion put into it. This is the time where Core was obviously burnt out by the yearly Tomb Raider releases and only put out 5 because they had to rather than wanted to. 6, Angel of Darkness needs no introduction, the original is probably one of the most well known rushed and bug riddled games released. While the remaster is missing a load of polish it's no longer crippled by bugs and is perfectly playable. That's not to say it's good now, it's still absolutely the worst Tomb Raid Game but now you can complain about the horrible controls and painfully unfinished levels rather than soft locking or it crashing every 10 minutes. It'd probably only recommend this collection on a 75%+ sale, the 1st 60% of TR4 is worth the price but I'd say turn it off after completing the Alexandria area. 5 you can easily skip, the levels aren't good and the story is irrelevant, 6 is an interesting game, it isn't a good game but it's probably worth a playthrough just to experience.

It's a pity that Tomb Raider 6 is in this bundle because that is what really brings this down. TR 4 & TR 5 are OK games, but TR 6 isn't just the worst Tomb Raider game, it's one of the worst games period. Be brave before you attempt it because it is worse than you probably think.

I played 15 minutes to leave a bad review, because this is unplayable on a modern machine. Tank controls are the same as they were in '99, controls are wildly unresponsive and it is a pain just to move around. All that just for a little better graphics? No thanks.

Good game, but controls aren't it. Tank controls are really hard on KBM and modern controls still feel odd. It's also pretty clunky. If you're completely used to playing modern games, good luck fighting the controls because it'll be the most prominent issue you'll face. Game is overall not bad, but controls do need work and the game fails to autosave. Always remember to save the game because I closed out and had to restart everything.
