For a free prologue / demo it's longer than some games that you gotta spend money to play. It can be pretty brutal for a 3d platformer, so I wouldn't recommend it to everyone but I did complete it. looking forward to the full release
It's good but a bit confusing at first. After first section of movement tutorial you can travel across open map. Your destinations will be main point of interest, you can check compass in the right corner to help you find next fish. Goal is to catch all the fish in different areas, be warned though - they escape! Movement is super smooth and have plenty of tricks at your disposal. You can either wall run, grapple hook some stuff and spin and slide. Several different jumping techniques similar to Mario sisters. Whistle on desert to summon ground creature with which you can surf across dunes. Overall visuals resemble those of old games from PS1 era, emulated but plenty of filters are available. Reasonably optimized, can run smoothly on GTX 1080 in 3K. What are the cons? No map, lots of wandering around, some platforming parts are very specific and not everyone might like them. Running after fish is sometimes super annoying! Difficulty from easy to challenging depending on the location. Grab those fish by their **** and complete the game. 2-6 hours of playtime because of exploration part. Did not fish the game because time was up so I had to skip after 3 hours I think.
I am usually bad at platforming games. But this game made me realise that i may not be as bad as i thought. A platformer game with a nice and unique concept. Although i personally wouldnt play this a second time cause i hate the frustration of getting stuck. I really loved the character designs of the playable character and the npc we trade fishes with. The sand shredders were cute too. The way the whole map is done and the effort to detail can be seen when we travel around the desert. The slingshot mechanics in the game really amused me. I had some fun playing with the flower that propels when we hook on them. The fish with the legs really made laugh when i first saw it. The sand shredder taxi was kinda hard to steer but was extremely fun. Love those floppy little things and i hate those bomber birds. A frog platforming, collecting coins and catching fishes to earn itself a scale, a trophy of victory made with beautiful art and an fun but tricky maps. An 8/10 cause of my frustrations at certain parts of the map.
I've never played the original Resident Evil games, but I would if the door animations filled me with as much joy as the animation that plays when you catch a fish.
Maybe it's just that I haven't used a controller in a while, but it reminded me of some older nintendo games. Some sections are hard, kind of like the parts I used to get stuck on in other games as a kid that really weren't that hard in hindsight. Great experience and difficulty, despite its length.
fun and slick collectathon 3d platformer
Really solid platformer. The controls are tight and responsive. Definitely hoping for a map/checkpoint system for tracking down scales in the full release. Took quite a while just trying to figure out where the last ones were. 1000% will be buying this, and would recommend to anyone who likes platforming!
Free prologue that plays better than most paid games.
The platforming feels like trying to climb a concrete wall at first, but once you start to understand the true way of the schmoovement, you get so many "holy crap I had no idea I could pull that off" moments that just feel oh so satisfying. That being said, there's a LOT of trial and error (and runbacks, yay) with getting around the platforming sections, but that's just what makes reaching the fish at the top much more gratifying. I do wish there'd be an overworld map tucked away in some back pocket somewhere, not like it's there for fast travel, but just something to get a better lay of the land. Better yet, make the map something you have to piece together with collectibles scattered around. Looking forward to the full game!
