Three Fourths Home: Extended Edition, developed by [bracket]games and published by Digerati, is an experience that deliberately steps away from traditional notions of gameplay and instead leans almost entirely into narrative, mood, and emotional nuance. You take on the role of Kelly Meyers, driving across a storm-lashed stretch of rural Nebraska while speaking on the phone with her family. It’s a premise that sounds uneventful on paper, yet it becomes the foundation for a deeply personal and introspective journey, one that explores strained relationships, unspoken frustrations, and the quiet weight of returning home. Interaction is intentionally minimal. The act of holding a button to keep the car moving forward is paired with selecting dialogue responses that shape the flow of conversation. There are no obstacles to dodge or systems to manage—your primary task is simply to keep going, both physically and emotionally. This simplicity is not a limitation so much as a design choice. By removing distractions, the game forces your attention onto the dialogue, making every exchange feel more immediate and personal. The inability to stop without halting the conversation reinforces the sense that there’s no easy escape from these interactions, mirroring the reality of difficult family dynamics. The writing is the centerpiece of the experience, and it carries the entire game with quiet confidence. Conversations shift naturally between casual banter and moments of deeper emotional tension, revealing layers of history and unresolved conflict. The dialogue feels grounded and believable, capturing the awkward pauses, deflections, and subtle emotional cues that define real conversations. Rather than building toward dramatic climaxes, the narrative unfolds gradually, allowing its impact to emerge through accumulation. It’s less about what is said in any single moment and more about what those moments reveal over time. Atmosphere plays a crucial supporting role. The visual presentation is stark and restrained, often relying on monochrome imagery and simple silhouettes to depict the passing landscape. Wind turbines, empty roads, and distant structures create a sense of isolation that complements the internal tension of the story. The storm outside is more than just a backdrop—it mirrors the emotional turbulence within the conversation, with rain and wind providing a constant, almost hypnotic rhythm. The sound design enhances this effect, blending environmental noise with subtle musical elements to maintain a consistent, immersive mood. The Extended Edition expands on the original experience with additional content that deepens the narrative context. An epilogue offers further insight into Kelly’s past, providing a different perspective on the events of the main story. Supplementary materials, including written pieces and artwork, add texture to the world and its characters, giving players a broader understanding of the themes being explored. These additions don’t fundamentally change the structure of the game, but they enrich the experience for those interested in engaging with it more fully. Despite its strengths, the game’s approach will not resonate with everyone. Its lack of traditional gameplay elements means there is little to engage players who are looking for challenge, variety, or mechanical depth. The choices you make in dialogue influence the tone of the conversation but do not drastically alter the outcome, which can make the experience feel more linear than interactive. Its relatively short runtime also contributes to the sense that it is more akin to a short story than a full-length game. However, these limitations are closely tied to the game’s identity. Three Fourths Home is not trying to be expansive or mechanically complex; it is focused on delivering a specific emotional experience. Its strength lies in its ability to create a sense of intimacy and reflection, encouraging players to listen, interpret, and connect with its characters on a personal level. It’s a game that values subtlety over spectacle, and its impact often lingers after it ends. In the end, Three Fourths Home: Extended Edition stands as a thoughtful and quietly affecting piece of interactive storytelling. It may not satisfy those seeking traditional gameplay, but for players willing to engage with its slower pace and introspective tone, it offers a meaningful and memorable journey that feels closer to lived experience than scripted entertainment. Rating: 7/10
This game struck me hard RIGHT in the looker. Sucker punch and all. Three Fourths Home drew me in soon after I received the game as a birthday gift. I am an absolute sucker for VN's, and with how little I've heard of this, I honestly didn't expect too much going in. Maybe a run-of-the-mill indie VN made with little effort to get some form of point across. I was so extremely and sorely mistaken. Unfortunately, as emotional as I find myself to be, I was in tears around the ~40 minutes of playtime mark. The writing is genuinely so human and well thought out that the simplistic graphics are genuinely an artistic choice rather than other options or opinions. Every theme that brutally battered me into the ground was so beautifully conveyed I really GENUINELY couldn't *not* leave a review. You into walking or driving simulators? Maybe immersive environments? Short psychological stories and thoughtful writing? Maybe you just wanna honk a car's horn through a rainstorm. Despite the lack of replay, Three Fourths Home is your game. 10/10
No saves and extremely tedious. Hold down 1 button and wait for the next dialog to appear
Amazing game, surprised me a lot. I did not know anything about it before playing, it takes you through an emotional journey where you can make your own choices. Highly highly recommend it.
Reseña de Three Fourths Home: Extended Edition – ¿Una tormenta en un vaso de agua?

Resumen
Imagínate que estás en medio de Nebraska, charlando por celular mientras conduces a casa en medio de una tormenta. ¿Emocionante, no?
Three Fourths Home: Extended Edition is a short visual novel about a young woman, Kelly, who is driving home during a powerful storm. Along the way, she has to deal with difficult phone call from her family. A pretty good story with great sound design that enhances the atmosphere. The visual style is unusual, but I kind of enjoy it. But it definitely won’t be for everyone, which might be why many people missed this hidden gem. I am in between on this one. On one hand the concept and story are quite interesting, on the other conversations seem tedious, like a chore for all involved participants. Very simple UI. Once more a story about a people who do not know how to communicate with each other. Choices do not matter much but in the epilogue they may lead to a different outcome. Since I cannot give a neutral I would rather go for a positive. I would say it is too short for the current price so get it on discount.
