As a pen testing student, this really breaks the monotony, and provides a little fun learning environment. I just finished my first red team level, and barely pulled through at the 73rd turn. A few of the concepts were new, and the descriptions really helped... When I could read them in the 3 min turn timer. Pen testing can be a serious drag to learn in certain areas, and when it can be broken up with new and fun experiences like this, I find it to be a successful game. That is, if the game is meant to be just that, and not a new world to experience. Not knowing much about the blue team side, the breakdown of blue's efforts, strategy, and all the things they have to do just for me to max out a few skills and compromise enough of their infrastructure does show how important the blue team actually is, and how it can't be undervalued. One can say "ok attack" and you can start doing some basic things. On the other hand, if one says "ok protect us" and the implication of failure is potentially being fired or your company going under, I'd say that's a lot more stressful. Especially with the thought of "where do I start" and the reminder of "oh, btw you only have so much money...".
Pros: 1. An engaging game about a fairly dry topic. 2. The UI works pretty well, and I feel like the network maps communicate ideas well. 3. Options exist to provide more time between turns, if you are still learning or want to read the info boxes. Cons: 1. If you don't have a baseline understanding of networks and/or IT security, then most of the game may as well be written in French. You can play it, but you would need to read what everything is and does, and why it matters. 2. This game will not teach you how to be a 1337 hacker (as the kids say). It does not get deeper than basic principles, which, while enjoyable for me, is less than the game was originally billed for. 3. the play time was pretty short. I had probably seen 90% of what the game offered by 4 hours in, and had reached a point where I was just trying goofy stuff for kicks by hour 7. By hour 9 I found that I had scripted in my head the first 15 turns of both red and blue teams, and that the other team couldn't really resist at that point. 4. No multiplayer? The option exists, I just don't think anyone is on there. Could be some better replay-ability if you played this with a friend. Overall, It was a good way to kill some time. Get it on a sale if you are into IT.
good entry into secops space, alot of fun once you learn the concepts
Where spam-filter? You remember about that?! Stupid phishing work "just because"! Non realistic protecting gameplay.
good
This is definitely a fun and engaging way for those new to cybersecurity or penetration testing to learn concepts and develop the mindset needed. Or if you're not new to the community, this is a fun way to compete for bragging rights with your coworkers. There are definitely a few things that could be tweaked (my biggest complaint is the approval odds for budget requests on blue team) but overall this is an awesome product and a great game.
Simulazione molto reale e dettagliata
Great game. It is one thing to study the Blue Team/Red Team playbooks; this game forces you to put them into a real-world scenario, and you are the Boss. Great play from whichever team you start with. Hoping they will add on more scenarios down the road. 5-stars folks.
