They pumped out DLC before they even released the game. That pretty much says it all. Whether I like the game or not doesn't really matter when Eversim is THIS blatant in disrespecting their customers. Really disgusting.
Game is now essentially abandonware. DON'T BUY IT. Personnaly I'll not buy another game from this publisher which is Eversim.
Game has potential but after lots of testing and giving feedback lot of core things never came to be and instead three payed DLCs over the course of 4 months. Base game needs heavy focus and every Eversim game is proof that may not happen.
Rating: ★★★★☆ (4/5) 4th Generation Warfare is a strategic, turn-based game that places players in the heart of modern-day conflict scenarios, emphasizing the complex and evolving nature of warfare in the 21st century. As a dedicated strategy gamer, I found this title to be a refreshing take on contemporary military challenges. Gameplay (4/5): The gameplay in 4th Generation Warfare is thoughtfully crafted, focusing on the asymmetrical nature of modern conflicts. Players are presented with a variety of scenarios, ranging from insurgencies to counter-terrorism operations. The game rewards strategic planning and adaptation, as it's not about overwhelming force but about smart decision-making and resource management. While the mechanics are generally solid, some players might find the learning curve a bit steep, especially if they're new to the intricacies of modern warfare concepts. However, the game's tutorials and tooltips do help bridge the gap. Graphics and Sound (3/5): The game's visual and auditory aspects are serviceable but unremarkable. The graphics are functional, with a simple and clean interface, but they don't push any boundaries. The sound design is quite basic, with limited sound effects and background music. Given the focus on strategic gameplay, this lack of audiovisual flair isn't a deal-breaker, but it does detract from the overall immersion. Realism (5/5): 4th Generation Warfare truly shines in its commitment to realism. It delves into the complex, ever-evolving nature of modern warfare, where political, economic, and social factors play a crucial role in shaping the battlefield. The game forces players to consider not only military strategies but also the broader context, such as public opinion and diplomacy. This realistic approach adds depth and challenge to the gameplay, making it a must-try for military enthusiasts and strategists. Replayability (4/5): The game offers substantial replay value due to the variety of scenarios and the dynamic nature of each playthrough. Different choices can lead to vastly different outcomes, making it enticing for players who enjoy experimenting with various strategies. However, the relatively steep learning curve may limit accessibility for some players, potentially reducing the game's replayability for those who are not already well-versed in military strategy. Overall (4/5): 4th Generation Warfare is a hidden gem for strategy enthusiasts who appreciate a deep and realistic take on modern warfare. While it may not win any awards for graphics or sound, it more than compensates with its engaging and thought-provoking gameplay. The game's emphasis on the complexities of modern conflict and the need for adaptable strategies adds a layer of authenticity rarely seen in the strategy genre. If you're willing to invest time in mastering its mechanics, you'll find 4th Generation Warfare to be an intellectually satisfying experience that challenges your strategic thinking in a contemporary context.
Game has been abandoned. Lots of potential but never came to be.
Terrible disappointment. You'll spend hours trying to figure out how to accomplish the simplest of tasks. There are no real tutorials, and very little explanation. The complexity of possibilities make it so intriguing, but the lack of information ruins it. I wanted to like this so much, but after 3 hours I've given up.
Perfect example of e a great idea but bad execution,
completely broken
