There Swings a Skull: Grim Tidings

背景设定较为新颖，选择的可操控角色也不是常规的美型角色，这两点是比较新奇的，但是前期一直重复性的动作过多，且与场景没有多少交互，大大降低了游戏体验，以及虽然设定是新颖的，但是讲的还是那堆陈词滥调而且还伴有不少谜语人内容，叙事节奏也不好前期太慢后期又太快，很多细节都没讲清楚，如果是个人制作的oc小故事这个质量是完全够用的，但一旦把它作为一个完整的作品来看，那就不怎么够格了

It's really hard to decide whether to recommend or not. For me, the feedback should lie between like and dislike but we only have two choices here, so not recommended I'd say, not meaning that it is a bad game. Cons: - For unknown reason, the game doesn't like my computer system. Strange characters appear from time to time in the text, ruining the understanding of the conversation and even worse, the immersion. Most likely a literal encoding problem. - The lines in blue are hard to read. - Can't skip the lines already read and can't save at will. I'm thus forced to read the same text again and again (especially when struggling to find the hidden ending). - Too few interactable objects - I gave this a try because most of the reviews mentioned a good writing. This gave me an extremely high expectation. But the more I re-read the plot (when collecting different endings), the more I felt that it's not as good as praised. Certain explanations of the background settings are left out of sight on purpose, making this town a man-made stage scenery rather than a believable place one can imagine living in. The message is straightforward, not leaving many aftertastes. Pros: - Unique atmosphere and art style - Replayablility despite the simple outline - The script is not really bad for a VN (don't think this is a real RPG game though). There are some memorable paragraphs. The path of drat gave me much pain. It didn't take really long time to figure out the answers to the four questions ([spoiler]just be a bad guy and you get it [/spoiler]). But I didn't expect it to come after the endings. I got so confused when the normal best ending and credits rolled that I doubted I missed something before. I quit and loaded the former save to check if I neglected a certain secret path. Of course, there was nothing to be missed and I ended up going through the same story again. That partly explains the 7-hour duration. As for the special ending itself, I can't say I fully get the gist, but it's weirdly hilarious, that's all. I don't have any proper word to describe it but it's still worth seeing, probably because it's the most unexpected part of the game.

I love that a game about slowly creeping despair can can feel like such a sweet, touching experience by the end. If anything about this short narrative horror game sounds appealing, give it a few hours of your time.
