Loop//Error

This visual novel is basically a well put together short creepypasta. Don't think it's worth more than a euro but I liked it. Would be nice if the game had auto mode and a way to skip read text. Also screenshotting doesn't work for some reason.

I want to like Loop//Error. I enjoy the artwork, and the overall vibe is creepy and unsettling. I had a decent time with it, but the experience is VERY short. While most of the scares land well, a few of the jump scares actually made me laugh instead of feeling tense. I was able to reach multiple endings and complete the game several times in under two hours. Some of the endings are more satisfying than others. One ending in particular felt especially underwhelming, almost like, “Really? That was it?” Overall, my time with the game was okay to good, but not strong enough for me to recommend it to everyone - unless short, creepypasta-style horror games are really your thing. Side note: The game ran great on the LED Steam Deck with no issues.

Хотя ночная смена на заправке - это и так своего рода хоррор даже без мистики: одни цены на кофе или [b]"веселые" личности[/b] в три часа ночи чего стоят. В игре [b]4 финала[/b], и чтобы увидеть всё доступное, уйдет час, от силы полтора. Развилок не так много - всего 2 главы, где ключевые выборы меняют историю. Но вот что интересно: в игре нет цельного сюжета. В самом начале нам говорят, что когда-то существовал форум, где люди делились своими проблемами и историями из жизни. Был там один пользователь, чьи посты постоянно менялись и редактировались. Форум был снесен, но с помощью специальной программы удалось восстановить исходные данные. Ваша цель как игрока - изучить эти записи и докопаться до истины в различных интерпретациях событий. Проект честно говорит в начале, что здесь нет единой истории - и это полуправда. Если пройти игру на все финалы и прочитать все диалоги, можно соединить точки и догадаться, в чем суть секретов (а точнее - скелетов в шкафу) главного героя. Прямого подтверждения нет, так что историю можно интерпретировать по-разному. Но мне нравится, что игра характеризует себя как [b]"записи"[/b], а не [b]"воспоминания"[/b]. Под конец появляется ощущение, что ты прочитал отличную крипипасту от не самого [b]"стабильного"[/b] пользователя и теперь гадаешь, что же произошло на самом деле. Геймплея тут нет - вы просто читаете текст и делаете выбор. Я настоятельно рекомендую пройти игру 4 раза (каждый забег минут по 10-15), чтобы увидеть полную картину. Проект умудряется захватить атмосферой - это критически важно для страшных новелл. Хотя на экране минималистичная картинка (пиксели и очертания предметов), музыка и звуки моментально погружают в происходящее. Тут есть пара "джампскейров" с искаженными лицами и кровавыми фразами, но они скорее не пугают, а приковывают внимание. Автор идеально уловил момент, когда от простой бытовой завязки вы резко попадаете в личный кошмар, где логика бессильна. [h2]Repetition Kills the Horror[/h2] Artistically, it’s a well-made visual novel with strong visuals and atmosphere. However, I completely lost interest after getting the first two endings. But I continued playing to earn all achievements. Replaying the game felt repetitive, going through the same scenes and watching the same two jumpscares over and over quickly became tedious. There isn’t enough new content or meaningful variation between choices to really justify multiple playthroughs, which makes the experience feel stretched thin. In my opinion, games like this would work better as free-to-play titles, especially given how short the overall experience is and how limited the content feels. [h2]5/10[/h2]

Game that feels like a two sentence horror prompt with game play that is... Well hardly game play at all. Story has been told before and in better ways many times. Art style is fun, and cool though.

I haven't played the whole game but it's a nice, uncomfortable read. It's short as hell, and can come off as nonsensical, but I did hit close to home as someone who has suffered from delusions, paranoia and other issues that distorted my sense of reality for a while.

It is not winning a Pulitzer, but for a short little creepypasta it was worth the hour spent playing it. Mainly due to the ASCII art and the option to tell your gas station boss to go **** himself. I will say that without a save file, it is frustrating to have to repeat the game four times to obtain all the different endings.

Short but well-written visual novel horror story. What is lacking in commodities (a "skip text" would have been useful, but probably shorten its length even more), makes up for in a story that slowly unravels itself, plays with tropes of the genre and will definitely satisfy those looking for something disquieting but substantial. Lovely pixel art and sound design.

If you like pixel art horror then I think you should like this. Not much gameplay as a visual novel but the art is gorgeous and the story is gripping especially with how short the game is.
