About

'The Tragedy at Deer Creek' is a cinematic adventure set in a remote, long abandoned logging camp, exploring the ambition, hardship and struggles of its people, and the tragedy that ultimately befell them. A story about the bonds of family and the sacrifices we make to protect those we love.

Explore the abandoned camp and uncover fragments of the lives once lived there.
Each discovery draws you deeper into the story of its people
...and the events that changed everything.

Find items from the past, holding clues as to what happened at Deer Creek.
Some were never meant to be found, some hidden in plain sight.

Photographer Charlotte Gray ventures to the long-abandoned logging camp at Deer Creek to complete her project ”Forgotten Frontiers” - a visual record of places time has slowly erased, and the quiet stories left in its wake.
What she finds is not simply an abandoned camp, but one that feels suspended in time, as though held in place by something unseen, as if its occupants stepped away only moments ago rather than decades. And in the heavy stillness of the vast, frozen landscape, Charlotte begins to sense something dormant - Deer Creek does not merely hold the stories of its past.
It yearns to set them free.

Absolutely loved this. Compelling from start to finish See the opening hour here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CLFeJHqCX0k&t=2504s
This was my first game of this type. It felt like real thought was put into the decisions you were needing to make. Since this is an indie game and devs, they did a fantastic job with what they presented. I look forward to seeing what else they develop. If indie games are heading this direction, then I am very excited for the future. Explore the space and take your time. Enjoy the journey. Pros: 1. Good music that kept the environment alive and me invested 2. Puzzles varied in difficulty but were creative and fun. The last one gave me trouble but it was a me problem 3. Art style and world building was good for what they were going for. 4. Characters building and background was good 5. Good use of the built world. Everything took place within a minimal amount of locations 6. The getting into schoolhouse puzzle was intuitive if you took your time to explore 7. The sfx of the fire in the background after its lit is good for the mood. Cons: 1. Music tumbler used toward the end would not let me place the items it in until I installed it in the designated location after initially picking it up and the adjustments could be made. 2. When stuck on the final puzzle, the voice lines of using and acessing the puzzle became very annoying. Maybe set the lines to only trigger the first time you go into the cabin and reset upon exit. 3. The way the story is explained to you at the end seemed to be a little fast when switching between the moments that were important. Would have like a slightly better understanding from the cut scene but it wasn't terrible. I managed to piece it together the second time watching it, but then there is no method to skip the remainder of the cut scene if its not your first time watching it. 4. A bit short on game (but it is good) and low replay-ability potential.
Looking for a captivating (and indie!) point and click adventure? This game may very well be right up your alley. It has both a compelling story, voice acting, and spooky vibes. They nailed the atmosphere because I constantly felt like I was being watched and it kept me on edge until the end. You really do feel like the protagonist: insatiably curious to find out what truly happened at Deer Creek. I also found the game simple to play (interface wise) and there weren't many bugs just days after release. However, I did get stumped hard enough a handful of times and had to do some research to progress as there is no hint system.
The Tragedy at Deer Creek jest tytułem zdecydowanie godnym polecenia, szczególnie dla tych graczy, którzy kochają narracyjne opowieści ze stopniowaniem emocji, tajemnicą i nadprzyrodzonym klimatem. pełna recenzja - https://przygodozonabibliotekaprzygodowek.blogspot.com/2026/06/the-tragedy-at-deer-creek-recenzja-ocena.html Fabuła potrafi wciągnąć, stopniowo odkrywając przed graczem często szokujący fakty. Możliwość poznawania opowieści na dwóch płaszczyznach czasowych, współcześnie podczas rozgrywki, kierując fotografką Charlotte Gray, i w przeszłości, poznając obozowe życie drwali w XIX wieku, poprzez wszelakie słowo pisane, sprawia wielką frajdę i budzi ciekawość.
Music and story are hauntingly beautiful. Really enjoyed playing this one.
A great story with a haunting atmosphere. The puzzles are all logical and a general audience shouldn't have a hard finding solutions if putting in a little thought. This bite-size adventure game lays a great foundation of discovery, puzzle solving, and narrative that the publisher can use to tell larger stories in the future. Story: 4/5 It moved me and told a coherent narrative with heartbreaking twists. Atmosphere: 5/5 You could feel the oppressive and eerie environment of the logging camp. The sad banjo hitting at the right moments was excellent. Puzzles: 4/5 (Casual) 3/5 (Hardcore) People looking for incredible complex puzzles aren't going to find that here. That is not a bad thing, having overly complex puzzles in this story and environment would seem out of place and the developer did a good job shaping the puzzles to the environment. The developer also didn't try to throw in cartoon logic for the sake of having harder puzzles. That being said, people who absolutely need larger, complex meta puzzles in their gameplay aren't going to find that here. It simply does not fit the vision of this piece of art. Overall: 4/5 This was a game that I enjoyed my time with and will stick with me. Great story and atmosphere with logical puzzles. If you want a mystery you can enjoy in an afternoon, pick this up. I look forward to seeing what the developer does in the future.
This game had an interesting idea to it. There’s definitely a few spots that made me catch my breath, but nothing major. As a Christian, I didn’t appreciate the several uses of God’s name in vain. There were a few instances of the f bomb also. I bought this game on sale at 30% off. If I’d known about the usage of God’s name I would likely not have bought it. If that wasn’t in the game, I would still wait until it was at least 60% off to purchase it. The ending seemed a bit rushed and several things just didn’t seem to resolve. I think if a little more time was given to development the game could have been fleshed out better. The style was a fun throwback to older games and the artwork is very well done. Overall, I’d give it a 6/10 due to the above points.
Good game. Like another reviewer said, "better than most games." I have to agree with that. I spend too much money on games to find out they just aren't worth the money, for various reasons. This game had a good story, pacing and kept me wanting to push forward to find out what happened. The ending was a bit obscure but one can read between the lines quite easily, and draw their own conclusion. I know I did. Anyway, if you like point and click games with a mystery that keeps you moving forward, and is not too long so that it gets boring, you may like this one quite a bit. 9/10 for a game of this type.
I will get back to this review when i've finished it properly but so far i'm way more invested than i thought i'd be by a point and click game!
Excellent narrative game, I really enjoyed the story, the atmosphere and the puzzles.
