Broken Sword 5 - the Serpent's Curse

It's kinda sad that games like these are almost non existing now. Fun point and click with a lot of historical places to visit, without over-complicated riddles. Nico and George are spectacular duo as always. Honorable mention takes the goat with roach too, and great landscapes. You honestly dont need previous games to enjoy this one but it's recommended to play at least the first one. Soo yeah Broken Sword 6 - Parzival Stone when? This franchise has 30 years thats crazy...

It's not as fun as the 1st or 2nd but infinitely better than the 3rd and 4th installments (I didn't like that specific 3D look and feel). This 3D characters with cell shading and the hand painted backdrops is what you love. The humour is back. albeit a bit darker at times.

Загадки разного уровня: от абсолютно простых, до таких, которые даже квестоводы со стажем не смогут сходу решить без подсказок. К игроку относятся щадяще, без тупиков и внезапных смертей - можно играть без стресса. И, конечно же, отличный повышающий настроение юмор. Жалею только об одном: пропустил игру в момент выхода.

It's a decent point-and-click adventure game. The story is kinda mid with a few interesting moments, the characters are mostly forgettable, and some of the puzzles are borderline impossible without outside help (I'm looking at you desk puzzle). Would I suggest it? If you are a fan of the Broken Sword series, then yes. But if you are a newcomer to the series, go and play either the 1st or 2nd game first as your enjoyment of them will determine if this game is worth considering buying. Overall, I'd say buy it on a sale. The story, the puzzles, and the characters and their dialogue are the main focuses of games like this, and unfortunately it's a rather average game, a servicable 5/10. It's not bad, but it's also not good. If you want to take my word for it, I never laughed once at any joke or supposedly funny moment in this game, meanwhile with 1 and 2 I did laugh several times.

Broken Sword 5 feels like a true return to the spirit of the first two games. The historical mystery, the atmosphere surrounding the Cathars, the international locations, the music, the humor, and of course George and Nico all bring back a lot of what made the original games so memorable. Visually, the mix of 2D backgrounds and 3D characters works surprisingly well most of the time, even if some animations feel a bit stiff nowadays. The voice acting and soundtrack are excellent and really help maintain that classic Broken Sword feeling. What I enjoyed the most was the overall sense of adventure and mystery. The first half of the game in particular has very solid puzzle design: challenging but logical. Unfortunately, I felt the second half became much more obscure and less intuitive. In several cases I knew what I was supposed to do, but not how the game expected me to do it, which led me to use hints more often than I would have liked. The story itself is engaging and the historical themes are very interesting, although the final stretch becomes a bit too over-the-top for my taste, leaning more into supernatural spectacle than mystery. Even with its flaws, this is still a very enjoyable point-and-click adventure and probably the closest the series has come to recapturing the charm of Broken Sword 1 and 2.

Great game, one of the best episodes of the series! Detailed graphics, funny, yet thrilling story, just what you would expect from the fifth sequel :-).

Overall despite many people claim that this game isn't as good as the first two, I found myself enjoy this the most, the story was intriguing, and kept me guessing, and there were very clever puzzles in the later half of the game, but I also need to mention that by the end of it, it felt like a puzzle fest, and there were puzzles that felt like a fever dream. I think animation and graphics wise Broken Sword 5 might be the most beautiful point and click games I've ever played with, and also some of the longest too. In that regard it's clear why we rarely get a new installment in that series cause the animations always one up each other with the current available technologies, who knows, once Palzivar's stone releases it will be as if playing a Pixar game. It's kind of a shame I couldn't really enjoy the previous installments to this extenct, but honestly I would recommend this title to anyone who perhaps felt the same, and let the series go with 2, cause Broken Sword 5 altough has it's flaws, it is funny, intriguing and a killer adventure game overall.
