The Technomancer is a sci-fi RPG that offers players plenty of dynamic combat action based on 4 skill trees dedicated to 3 combat styles and the destructive electrical powers of the Technomancers.
Don't buy it! Boycott Nacon! Justice for Spiders!
https://www.stjv.fr/en/2026/04/spiders-liquidation-a-tale-of-social-destruction/ https://www.thegamer.com/greedfall-studio-spiders-boycott-against-closure-nacon/
This game is missing one thing from being a really great game, and that's gameplay. Graphics, story, acting, etc. are all pretty darn good. The combat is what's lacking. It's not broken or anything, it's just not implemented very well and becomes boring. I'd give it a neutral if I could.
Has a soul but way too clunky
Since studio Spiders is gone, you'd better try their Greedfall and Steelrising than Technomancer or Mars
Technomancer is both a sequel and a story that happens partly at the same time as Mars: War Logs, an older game from Spiders. I think it's fitting to base review largely around the comparison. Dialogues and writing are more polished, though still somewhat awkward in places. Combat is improved, though with some deficiencies still. To give a few examples - most of the last third of the game is spent fighting the type of enemy that is immune to shocked effect that is bread and butter of Technomancer branch, mirroring how most enemies would be immune to dust throw ability you start with in Mars: War Logs. A few enemy mechanics are way overtunned. A rifle armed enemies can be very deadly in melee, against all logic. Their damage in miniscule, but their attacks are so fast to come out and recover (for them) from that they can lock you in infinite combo, while other enemies attack. Just in general it's not that uncommon to die on higher difficulties due to several enemies comboing you from a stun to a stun. That said, now player also has i-framed dodge much like enemies (unlike Mars), parry feels a lot easier to pull off with the Guardian class than it was in Mars. And enemies feel in general less spongy on highest difficulty than previous game. Which, sadly, doesn't quite extrapolate to some bosses that take way too long to kill. Especially final one. All in all, much like Mars: War Logs, I think the game is decent enough to give it a try, if at discount. It's by no means a great action RPG game, but there is enough of interesting stuff to make for entertaining playthrough. I do believe that overall, Greedfall 1 is the best made Spiders action RPG still (out of those I played, have yet to touch Greedfall 2 EA version). Both by how much companions bring to the table, quality of writing and how combat feels. Greedfall's mechanics aren't necessarily much better than Technomancer, in some cases they are simpler. But the combat flow is overall better it feels. And Steelrising is probably Spiders most polished game in general. That said, Technomancer is probably their third best game after those two.
It's a good game, 8/10 No its not the best, no its not perfect but it's a good game with a decent story. Combat mechanics may take some time to smooth out but once you get your groove you can deal with most things. I played through 3 times, last run on Extreme, it was a bit tough but nothing as hard as dark souls and no where near as frustrating lol
The sequel to Mars Wars logs was pretty good for 1.50, you're basically darth maul if you use the staff
This is one janky game, with awful combat (I put it on 'easy' - couldn't stand it) and a lot of running around open environments that lack atmosphere. That said it is an intriguing sci-fi story, with freedom fighters (terrorists?), upgrades, crafting and some decision making (do you arrest this person? let this person go? or kill this person?). Don't be deceived by the screenshots - the graphics aren't that good with facial animations limited to the mouth when characters speak and the trailer really does over-hype how the game actually plays. Quests pile up with next to useless quest markers, the maps are so twisty-turny you end up keeping the map overlay on screen and the tutorial is pretty terrible. I do like the music - it's got that science fiction vibe. It's a curiosity, But if you're in the right frame of a mind for a new sci-fi world to explore (and if you can handle the atrocious combat and some wincing dialogue) it can be fun. It's drawing me in. As to whether your morality extends you to buying this now the studio has been shuttered? Well it's published by Focus so your conscience is clear. But Spiders is a loss to the gaming industry - they were finding their stride and shame on Nacon.
Technomancer is a mage, wizard, or psychic in speculative fiction who utilizes a combination of magic and technology through mutation. It is regularly referred to as a sci-fi action RPG, but the term spans across multiple popular media universes. It is set on a dystopian Mars where corporations war over water. You play as Zachariah, a warrior who can channel destructive electrical powers through genetic mutations, Developed by Spiders and Published by Focus Entertainment around 2016. This Game boasts a skill-tech tree that allows for extremely customizable builds, a robust crafting/upgrade system that will get you hooked for hours. It's one of the underrated Games I tried. At first story flow and some scripts don't make sense it appeared as uninteresting but as I play longer I get to know it more, it got me absorbed for more than 21 hours. The story will unveiled its Radiance once you invest time to it. I'm pretty sure others will like it if they play it long enough or perhaps Finish this. I commonly prefer Medieval RPG but this game brought my taste to a whole new level. Hidden gems like this should be given a chance . I'd highly recommend this!
