Compared to the Ultimate Collection that EA released for free back in 2014, this version is worse in almost every way, aside from performance. A lot of content and items are missing compared to that release. The UI is also a major issue. In this version, it remains low-resolution and does not scale properly, while the Ultimate Collection scales with your monitor and still looks good. I honestly don’t understand why they didn’t just bring the Ultimate Collection to Steam, apply some performance patches for modern systems, and release that instead. As it stands, this is just a worse version of something EA already released for free years ago. Refunded. Garbage.
I have so many good things to say about this game that a review wouldn't be enough. The Sims 2 is a masterpiece. It was my favorite game 20 years ago and it is still my favorite game today.
Ended up buying it on Steam because the EA version just stopped working. It's full of bugs, got sims randomly deleted after a sudden error message, they refuse to eat food stored in the fridge despite doing it fine in other families, children keep being taken by social workers though they have all they need... Translation errors a bit everywhere I just don't understand how you can break it more than it originally was. I fear what a Sims 3 port would end up as at this point.
Unless they fix it, which I highly doubt, I wouldn’t recommend it. It worked just fine for me until it deleted my saves. I’m too afraid to pick it back up and start again until it’s (LOL, this *is* EA) fixed.
Seems for everyone it's a sheer luck if it works or not, for me personally since i have some old drivers and directories for CC+ and other still on my laptop i have no crashes or other broblems exept of community places.... It's a lag hole... *SOLUTION* if you have crashes, i advice downloading some old games that download old directories with them, STALKER Shadow of Chernobil did it for me personally
Played for a solid 6 hours, zero crashes, zero game disruptions. No problems whatsoever with running the game itself, I'm guessing people running into issues are playing off laptops or older pc's etc. Games as good as it used to be. Played for the nostalgia, got my fix, but can't say I'll be playing it again anytime soon. Worth the price tag of nostalgia?... probably not
The Sims 2 is a golden game. The Sims 2 is a golden game that has been put into a lot of passion and love. The Sims 2 offers a magnificent experience, even though it is already 22 years old, it is still holding up well. 10/10 Must Play! I recommend buying it on sale.
i loved it 20 years ago when it wrecked my parents pc with a trojan and i love it today. goat of all time life simulator this version is completely stable, maybe even moreso on linux than on windows. i have nothing to compare it to except the old ultimate collection, and i haven't had a single crash, pink soup, etc. mods just as easily as before too. don't be fooled by the steam page though, it does NOT have cloud save enabled (even though it says it does)
I love this game and would've gave it a positive review. But the game had other plans. Just recently i started getting this issue where HALF of my neighbourhoods have disappeared and the google / reddit answers are not helping. I've only got 4 neighbourhoods and even pleasentview or whataver it's called is gone too. Mind you i have onedrive turned off, i have no syncing turned on for this or anything. I don't understand what's going on until this magically fixes itself which i doubt or until i can find a solution. I cannot recommend this game. It's a re release and it shouldn't even be having these issues. But here we are. Classic EA and classic me not being good at troubleshooting. Bad combo
This is a MUCH better version than UC. I have no idea why people say otherwise. I have SIGNIFICANTLY less problems (almost zero) can still use mods, cc, cheats, everything looks and runs fully smoothly. Best Sims 2 experience I ever had considering how much I struggled getting it to run in the past a million times. SO happy I got this. If you want an easy Sims 2 experience with all the packs (besides IKEA) this is definitely worth it, 100%.
