A desperate man needs to find the right antique to impress a rich relative, but his choice will have dreadful consequences. The Shopkeeper is a point-and-click narrative game set in a space between the Twilight Zone, classic Lucasarts adventures, and Antiques Roadshow.

A extremly small game. You can here about objects short or long texts, can choice a few options, and change the screen view 2 times. The game length is the greatest problem, its really to short. Thats why this game is only for achievement hunter and only if they buy it very cheap 75 or higher discount. But i am happy with the 10 achievements, even if there could be more so i give this game for achievement hunters with discount 53 %. Rest use Steam refund. Thx 4 Reading.
让我想想~这个游戏~1小时内通关全成就~ 都是看了steamcn的帖子后~我才玩的~然后~额~噗~ 结果到底啥故事我一点都不懂~

There's the nugget of something interesting in here, but the game itself fails badly on execution. It's no big spoiler to mention that the game relies on a short, repeating loop of story. This can be and has been done well before in both games and movies, but here, it's a disaster. There simply isn't enough variation in either actions or dialogue to keep it engaging. It works the first handful of times because you can choose different conversations, but after that it's simply maddening repetition. There's no clear indication of what you need to do to "win", and in fact even after trying dozens of combinations, I had to look up a guide to find the exact chain of events to get the final ending. This ending had a somewhat surprising twist, but it was nowhere near enough to make up for the tedium of trying to get to it. I don't know that I could even recommend this game if it were free, just because the work/reward ratio is awful. Again, there's a piece of a story that could be good, but it was botched horribly.
This "game" is a waste of time. You click on a gift (or sometimes your not even allowed that much control), then you click on an item in your mum-in-laws office, then you select a few levels of dialog to get one of 4 or 5 endings. Sometimes those selections seem to make sense to the ending, sometimes they are nothing to do with it. Frankly this seems like someone had a decent idea for a branching storytelling framework, did the artwork for the shop, a few branches and then thought "I can't be bothered to put any more effort into this" but released it anyway.
An interesting story, but it takes several very similar runs to really get the whole picture. Figuring out how to reveal the whole story is also unclear, forcing frustrating retries. Better direction, some polish on the art, and better voice acting could pull this game together into a good experience.
I found this one interesting, though it helps having a guide to get to the ending proper if you dont have the patience to trigger things through trial and error. It's very amatuer (voice acting is only passible, for example), but there are some neat ideas there. Three bucks is definitely a good price for it.
So, after just over an hour of gameplay I've achieved all of the achievements and gone through the different more dialogue options more times than I care to think about. Do I feel satisfied with that hour? Not really. Would I reccomend you spend your time on this game? Not at all. As others have said in their reviews, the purpose and intent of the game isn't entirely clear, and this lets it down.
The french have a way of thinking about art, they say "l'art pour l'art" - it's just art for arts sake. Bear this in mind when enjoying this game, Entrance yourself in the atmosphere of a small town, its antique shop, and the stories of the shopkeeper. Use your imagination. Try out different things not to WIN the game, but try to understand the characters, feel them and so on. The atmosphere is a bit like Twin Peaks or an episode of Columbo. A gem game.
The Shopkeeper
A looping adventure game about business and personalities. I do not think that the Very Negative rating is justified, even if the game is flawed. I had some fun getting to know the characters, but the length of loop is much too short. I would have enjoyed a more fleshed out loop and an easier path to the different endings. If you have this game in your library, you should definitely try it out.
