Nice but pretty small game. In general I agree with problem about the saves but if you are playing on laptop you can just minimize it. PS See one bug with animation of wire puzzle on the factory.
Хороша point & click гра з цікавим сюжетом та красивою мальовкою.
Touchy story, beautiful art. Entire story is depressive with no good ending. It's a type of the game when you feel a bit of a relief when it's over. It's not a bad thing. Life is not always a field of beautiful flowers. And stories like that reminds us to value every little thing we have. Bought all other games. All the best to the developers.
The Safe Place is a story-focused point-and-click adventure from Anate Studio that chooses emotional depth over spectacle. Set against the backdrop of a struggling post-Soviet city in the 1990s, the game presents a mature and often uncomfortable narrative about survival, guilt, and the difficult choices people make when pushed into desperate situations. Rather than relying on fantastical elements or high-stakes action, it grounds its drama in believable human conflicts, creating an experience that feels intimate, personal, and surprisingly powerful. The narrative centers on Alexander, a factory engineer whose life takes a disastrous turn after a tragic accident leaves a man dead. The only witness is Christina, a young girl burdened by her own troubled circumstances. Their first encounter is built on fear and secrecy, but what begins as an attempt to avoid responsibility gradually develops into a complicated relationship that becomes the heart of the story. The game explores how two damaged individuals from vastly different backgrounds influence one another while trying to navigate a world that offers little comfort or security. One of the game's greatest strengths is its willingness to present morally complex situations without forcing clear judgments. Alexander is not a traditional hero, and Christina is far more than a simple victim. Both characters possess strengths, weaknesses, and personal flaws that shape their decisions. The writing avoids simplistic portrayals, allowing players to understand why characters act the way they do even when those actions are questionable. This nuanced approach gives the story a sense of authenticity that many narrative adventures struggle to achieve. The setting itself plays a significant role in establishing the game's atmosphere. Economic hardship, social instability, and limited opportunities are woven naturally into the world rather than existing as background decoration. Every location reflects a society dealing with uncertainty, and this environment helps explain the desperation that drives many of the characters. The city feels worn down but believable, serving as an effective stage for a story focused on ordinary people facing extraordinary personal challenges. Gameplay follows classic point-and-click conventions. Players investigate environments, collect useful items, solve puzzles, and engage in conversations that move the story forward. The puzzle design generally prioritizes logic and storytelling over difficulty. Most challenges feel connected to the situation at hand rather than existing as arbitrary obstacles. This approach keeps the pacing smooth and allows the narrative to remain the primary focus throughout the experience. Dialogue choices add another layer of engagement. While the overall story remains largely structured, player decisions can influence character interactions and alter specific outcomes. These moments encourage players to consider the consequences of their actions carefully, particularly because the game's themes revolve around responsibility and personal accountability. Even small decisions can carry emotional weight, reinforcing the narrative's focus on human relationships. Visually, The Safe Place adopts a hand-crafted art style that suits its grounded storytelling. The environments capture the bleakness of the setting without becoming visually monotonous, while character designs effectively communicate personality and emotion. The artwork may not be technically groundbreaking, but it possesses a distinct identity that complements the game's dramatic tone. Subtle details in both locations and character expressions help strengthen the emotional impact of key scenes. The voice acting deserves recognition for bringing the cast to life. Performances feel natural and help convey the emotional complexity of the story's most important moments. Whether characters are expressing fear, frustration, regret, or hope, the dialogue delivery consistently supports the narrative. Combined with a restrained yet effective soundtrack, the audio design enhances immersion without overwhelming the quieter aspects of the experience. What makes The Safe Place stand out among many independent adventure games is its commitment to serious subject matter. The story tackles themes such as poverty, neglect, loss, and sacrifice with sincerity. It does not sensationalize these topics or use them purely for shock value. Instead, they form the foundation of a narrative that seeks to explore how people endure difficult circumstances and whether redemption is possible after making harmful choices. This emotional honesty gives the game a lasting impact that extends beyond its relatively modest scope. The experience is not entirely without flaws. Certain sections can feel slow due to the heavy emphasis on dialogue and character development. Players expecting constant puzzle-solving or frequent gameplay variety may occasionally find the pacing deliberate. However, those who approach the game primarily for its narrative will likely view this slower rhythm as an opportunity to become more invested in the characters and their struggles. Ultimately, The Safe Place is a compelling adventure that succeeds through strong writing, memorable characters, and a heartfelt exploration of difficult themes. It demonstrates how interactive storytelling can be used to examine complex moral questions while still delivering an engaging and emotionally resonant experience. The game may not appeal to everyone, particularly those seeking fast-paced gameplay, but for fans of narrative-driven adventures, it offers a thoughtful journey that remains impactful long after its conclusion. Rating: 8/10
Це капець. Але дуже атмосферно. Невже нас знову чекає повернення в такі часи?
It's true art. The story, the paining style, everything.
Touching story, nice visuals. A bit awkward that almost in every scene you're given a sense of urgency, but then you have all time in the world to walk through several locations.
