I wasn’t expecting to find something so pure and beautiful. It was a master class experience and has left me satisfied in many ways. I wish there was a way to describe my feelings. There will never be a fighting game that will ever come close to this game. It is the Citizen Kane of fighting games.
Can we get The Risers at Evo?
I did the first speedrun in this game, and probably i am also the best player in the entire world, if you want 1v1 to take my lead you can add me on steam (i don't know the exact amount of time about the speedrun because the game crashed at the end 10/10)
Won a key for this from an IndieGala giveaway. Wish I hadn't. I spent most of my time trying to get it to work with controllers. For those interested in trying to get it working, the game controls are as follows: P1 Move - WASD Light Punch - T (also the 'Accept' button) Medium Punch - Y Heavy Punch - U Light Kick - G Medium Kick- H Heavy Kick - J P2 Move - Cursor Keys Light Punch - Insert (also the 'Accept' button) Medium Punch - Home Heavy Punch - Page Up Light Kick - Delete Medium Kick- End Heavy Kick - Page Down Enter/Space - Pause I've mapped these to 2 controllers via Steam Input but was still struggling to get things working properly with 2 controllers. It seemed okay after mapping 1 but struggled with the 2nd for some reason - sometimes player 2 inputs did nothing despite being mapped to the correct keys. Maybe disabling Steam Input and using a 3rd party key mapper might help, but I can't be bothered. It felt like a lesson in futility at this point and coupled with the horrendously repetitive midi-sounding music loops, was enough to deter me from playing much more. As for the game in question, it feels like a prototype/learning exercise for a weapons-based (swords) 1v1 fighter. Despite what it says on the Store page, it does have a 2-player option in addition to arcade and training modes. It's very rough and plays similarly with some jarring 'dynamic' camera angles that suddenly take place when certain moves occur. I will admit I've not given it much of chance though and there may be some fun to had in right circumstances (under pain of death perhaps). I don't intend to expend any more energy on this nightmarish thing. Visually, it has quite a unique look that I'd label as 'anti-aesthetic' or something like that. The texturing and colour palette is ugly-looking and the characters feel like a bunch of bizarre horror assets dumped into the game without any effort made to make them play uniquely - the gangster character with the tommy gun seems to launch into what looks like the sword-based moves of another character. I suppose it looks quite unique from an artistic direction point of view, but that's about the best I can offer. I'm not sure what it is that spills from bodies when attacked, but the visual mess perfectly encapsulates what looking at this game makes you feel. I wouldn't recommend this unless you're really curious about ugly/bad games, masochistic or enjoy spending time excessively fiddling to get controllers working.
This game is beyond broken. Play it with ALL of your friends. 10/10 would crash again
This is the start of something special from 2 guys who have worked hard to release their first game. The navigation can be a bit tricky with keyboard (haven't tried it with a joystick yet) but once you give it a chance, the fighting is fun and there are some pretty extreme and hilarious breaker moves (carnivorous horse!!) that you can pull off. I'd say this game is definitely not a "solo" experience, but rather something to pick up for an evening of fun with friends. At such a low price it's worth adding to your library for party-gaming nights, and hopefully we'll see some updates in the near future from the team.
Bad
Playing this has the same effect as drinking bleach while you shove pencils into your eyes. Loved every second of this untextured (but also slightly textured?) mess. Buy this if you want to know what nightmares Satan has.
