About

The Idol was lost — but not forgotten. In this followup to the award winning detective game The Case of the Golden Idol, you are an observer that must investigate 20 strange cases of crime, death and depravity - all somehow connected. Use your detective skills to make sense of a grand mystery that unfolds across an age of hallucinogens, disco, fax machines and parapsychology.

Two hundred years after the unspeakable fate of the Cloudsley family, the Idol's legend lives on only in whispers and myth… but some are determined for this to change. Discover the mysterious forces connecting a tenacious treasure hunter, a team of scientists, the members of an enlightenment-seeking cult and corporate profiteers drawn to the all-powerful artifact.

The Rise of the Golden Idol is a new type of detective game where you freely explore each crime scene at your own pace, using logic to build your own theories. Click to collect clues and analyze each discovery to determine what happened, why, and who was responsible.

Convicted prisoners, new age cult leaders, corporate middle management and many more figures have a role to play in the wider mystery that unfolds — each driven by their own agenda. Scour each scene for key details to put names to faces and deduce their motives.

A reworked interface lets you quickly gather key terms from observations and witness testimonies, greatly expanding the depth and variety of each scenario. Upon the conclusion of each chapter, a new type of puzzle lets you revisit past deductions, recap the events of these interconnected cases, and investigate the threads that unify them.

Really nice follow up to the first one. Much more complicated. The style and artwork are beautiful as always. Would just warn French people that there is some translation mistakes, not a lot but still.
More of what made The Case of the Golden Idol good and fewer of the "eh" parts.
excellently done game, got through my architecture degree by replacing my course stress with the stress of figuring out all the detailed connections in this game 10/10 worked and still made it through architecture school. Definitely more challenging than the first version especially the DLCs but fully worth the purchase!
好玩
I enjoyed it as much as the original game, and the story really stuck with me as the various pieces of the overall puzzle clicked into place. If you've played The Case of the Golden Idol, this game's a no-brainer. It's every bit as good as the one that came before it, and those who say it's lesser-than might want to re-evaluate how sophisticated this game is in both its storytelling and puzzling. Putting the pieces together at the end is particularly challenging because you really have to pay attention to the entire game, particularly early details that shed a lot of light on what you later uncover. The gameplay is refined this time, no longer making you hunt for underlined words or search for areas you haven't clicked. You explore, gather clues and then start trying to piece together the strange scenes before you (which don't always involve murder!), whether they involve birds attacking their handlers, bums standing around a fire while a yacht sits in the harbor sits beyond them or a talent show gone wrong that leads to one of the best moments in the game with a puzzle that goes for being fun rather than challenging. I haven't played the DLC yet, but I will. I honestly loved every moment of this game, even when I got frustrated by being so close, but not quite there on a few puzzles! (One note: the game has some really unfortunately tedious loading times between stages, or at least it did for me on a computer with mid-range specs. I hope the devs refine that in the next game!)
TROTGI is a chill but moderately difficult puzzle game sequel that continues to challenge players to solve its chaptered mysteries by using logic and deduction. A fair amount of reading and comprehension is required to navigate the game's plot, but the absence of a time limit and unlimited access to unlocked scenarios makes for a low pressure, stress-light experience. The graphics are very nicely stylized and the addition of evolved controls and UX from its predecessor make parsing through all the information the game throws at you cleaner and more organized. PROS: Same challenges as before, evolved UI and UX; expect lots of laid-back hours of playtime CONS: Loading times between scenarios can get annoying the further you progress, the more peripheral focus of the storytelling as compared to its predecessor is less compelling, "process of elimination" solutions can sometimes feel cheap
