The Ranchers

This game has a lot of potential! That being said, it is still an early access game, so you have to expect some bugs. But here's my review that no one asked for; 1) Plays really well on Steam Deck. I've had 0 issues with anything related to it being on the deck, which I love! There is some QOL things I'd like to see, as far as switching what item you have equipped without having to open your backpack. But hopefully thats coming... 2) Driving isn't all that great in this game. GTA taught me to drive recklessly and this has me going around like I'm driving Mrs. Daisy. There is a fuel system though, that is kinda cool, and fairly cheap. And the mechanics shop is fairly cheap to fix up the starter car. Which brings me to... 3) All I can access is the starter car. I've hacked a few parked cars, but they dont budge, unlike my wanted level. And none of the ones on the road will let me enter, even if they're stopped. In a future update I hope we can get access to these options. 4) The world seems a decent size. You definitely have some space to cruise around a bit. But it's not TOO big. I travel on foot to town sometimes just to save on cheap gas. That's all I got for now. Overall, I'm very satisfied with this game, and where its headed. I hope the devs fix some QOL stuff I think that would draw more people in.

Absolutely love this game! So glad I got the Alpha Rancher packer on Kickstarter and have been lucky enough to experience the way this game has evolved. Time flies by while playing and there are so many things that I love. The cycle of the seasons / the different crops you can plant during them is very immersive and it's really cool that you can automate your farm with things such as sprinklers and water production. You are able to have chicken coops, keep cows, and have greenhouses as well. I am in love with the building aspect of the game as well. I do have to say it is buggy / glitchy in this state but the devs are on top of patching these sort of things. I have a great time building my house up and look forward to building stuff like garages / guest houses. There is SO MUCH that will be added to the game and I appreciate the road map they have. I cant even describe all the other things that you can do in this release but I am always occupied and having a ton of fun. Shoutout to the owner / staff for their transparency and always answering questions on discord <3

Ich kann dieses Spiel defintiv empfehlen, aufgrund seines enormen Potentials! Es macht mir spaß das game zu spielen, aber möchte dennoch ein paar Anmerkungen machen, sodass eine Selbsteinschätzung besser möglich ist. Das Spiel ist im Early Access und muss als solches auch betrachtet werden. Komplett Spielbar ist es bereits, aber manche Dinge sind noch Umständlich/ Nicht völlig ausgereift. So müssen Ressourcen bisher noch gekauft werden, um wirklich langzeitlich das Grundstück bebauen zu können. Die Mienen und Wälder zur Beschaffung von Holz und Stein, befinden sich noch nicht im Spiel. Wer also Wert legt auf ein komplett rundes Spielerlebnis, sollte an dieser Stelle vielleicht mit einem Kauf noch warten. Ich will aber auch anmerken, dass das Spiel von seiner Freiheit und dem damit möglichen Chaos lebt. Man kann Autos klauen und nach dem Tutorial sogar Verfolgungsjagden mit der Polizei austragen, die einen ähnlichen Verlauf haben, wie in GTA. Es ist unglaublich lustig, wenn irgendwas schiefgeht und man sich plötzlich einem Streifenwagen gegenüber sieht. Ich werde es defintiv weiter spielen... meine nächste Mission... was passiert, wenn ich das RPD um einen Wagen bestehle???

I really like the concept of the game. However, there's still room for improvement since it's still in early access. The vehicles are hard to drive, and I hope there will be an option to manually save, since the progress is mostly auto-saved.

Great game with so much to do. Yes there are a few quirky issues nothing major. Been playing on my steam deck and it's been great. To be honest having a real blast. The Devs are very active and communication has been fantastic. It's a shame to see some under 1 hour negative reviews i personally think they are missing out on a great game and to be honest the game will just get better and better. Anywhooooo i have tomorrow off so I can sink a few more hours into this little gem😁

Ожидания от задумки были высокими. Увы. Сыграл с друзьями в кооп. За пару часов игры угнал тачку, заработал 5 звезд, убегая от дронов, отсидел 3 дня в тюрьме, выполнил несколько заданий, построили "дом" на участке, высадили грядки. На этом всё. Игра совсем не про фермерство, механики рачно можно на пальцах одной руки пересчитать. Помесь механик второй гта и очень слабенькой попытки добавить экономический фермерский симулятор. Не понятно зачем сделан такой большой не юзабельный город, зачем угонять машины и бегать от полиции в симе про фермеров? Много странных решений не делающих игру привлекательной. На пару часов, не больше. Вернул.

At this point in its development, I would say to wait on this game until they have resolved a number of issues. Keep an eye on it though, there is potential for this game down the road.

I backed this game on Kickstarter when it was first announced at Summer Game Fest 2022. Having played through many of the alpha and beta builds, I can see that progress has been made and community feedback has been taken into account. However, I still cannot recommend this game at its current price. The core gameplay loop (farming, tending to animals, and expanding your ranch) is functional, and the visual style is genuinely charming. The building and decorating features show a lot of potential. Unfortunately, the controls are still quite clunky. Vehicle steering remains frustrating. Cars frequently lose traction and slide out of control at higher speeds. On top of that, performance can be hit-or-miss, with noticeable frame drops and occasional visual bugs during gameplay. The audio design also feels incomplete. Ever since the AI voice dialogue was removed/reverted, the game feels surprisingly quiet. You get voiced lines during the initial intro to the town, but after that, dialogue falls back to simple text-box chatter reminiscent of 90s and early 2000s RPGs. If you are expecting a seamless blend of cozy farming RPGs and Grand Theft Auto, you will likely be disappointed. While the foundation is there, it currently lacks depth in its core mechanics. I understand it is in Early Access, but considering the long development timeline and extensive closed testing phases, I expected more polish and content, especially for the €25.49 price tag. Wait for a steep discount or significant content updates before jumping in.
