About
A point-and-click adventure game, where you don't control the adventurer...
A brave knight strolls into a small medieval village on an epic quest, but that's not you. Move between the villagers, and choose to guide or distract the adventurer from their quest, with puzzles, comedy dialogue choices, and mysteries to uncover.
Explore the beautifully hand-drawn village, and discover the lives and plans of four varied characters in this short game with multiple endings. Through your dialogue choices, be a shopkeeper out for the best deal, a monk who's taken a vow of silence, or a miner who's had a bump on the head and not quite saying what he means. And finally there is the mysterious beastie...
With British humour, characters brought to life from live voice performances, and music performed on Celtic instruments.
A very short game, but with choices that lead to different paths and characters to explore. With full voice acting, colourful characters and hand-drawn animations, get pulled into the quest and choose who's side you take!

Too short to recommend. It has only 4 scenes that can be played in different order. And 2 endings. Reading reviews to decide if you actually want it will most likely take longer than game itself.
A quirky experiment of a title: what if you played as the NPCs? I quite like the concept, and the different pathways that are available are amusing. However, The Protagonish is not quite long enough to justify a "recommend." A single run can be over in just a few short minutes, and—while there are other pathways—each playthrough has diminishing returns. I hope this team comes back to this idea in the future, and fleshes it out for a more full-fledged experience.
Even though you're forewarned the game is short I didn't expect it to be that short. One playthrough will require around 5 minutes, more or less. Of course, to try and see different things, you have to replay, but it took me 30 minutes to get all achievements. This is not a real point-and-click adventure. It's a barely animated visual novel with dialogue choices, only four scenes, no inventory and one ridiculously easy "puzzle". I did like the art style, the writing and the concept of trying to help or hinder the "protagonish" without controlling him directly. This should have been a demo for a much longer game.
If you expect a new Deponia, you may be disappointed. This game opens up a complete new field of possibilities what Point & Click can achieve. It's a pocket Adventure game, where you literally Polish your Protagonist. This game most likely will not get succesful, but the idea of this game really needs to be. Imagine a Deponia, where you can guard Rufus, damn, that would be insane. I liked this game, thumps up from me. I hab's gerne gespielt, Daumen hoch von mir!
Nice idea, art and voices, VERY short, can be easily broken until you can't do anything, for example by sending the hero from one place to another a couple of times. If you treat it as a prototype, it's fun enough for the price. A full game like this, just without the bugs and with at least some production value, would be nice.
Objectively:
6/10
It feels like a tech-demo and basically it's exactly that for a new type of adventure game where You play the NPCs instead of the protagonist. It has some charm and good voice acting, but it's too short to be sold as a game. A "run" can last as long as 5 minutes and it takes only 20 minutes to get all achievements by replaying and choosing different dialogue options.
Short but sweet little adventure! The art and voice acting really make this game shine! The concept in of itself is quirky and I would love to see a longer form game with this idea. You can see the effort that's been put in and I want to give massive props to everyone involved! I know the effort that goes into indie animation/ game productions and you can see it shine though here. There are some flaws yes but given that an update has already been released it seems like the major bugs will be addressed which is very reassuring. The game isn't perfect but that's okay. This game isn't long, it'll only take around an hour probably to get all the achievements and hear all the dialogue options however it's an hour well spent. For less than the price of an average coffee nowadays you could give this game a chance and have a chill little hour. For what it is it's amazing and really captures the feel of a funny point and click adventure game. Personally, given this is their first ever game and a proof of concept, I can't wait to see what's next!
The Protagonish is a short dialog driven adventure game where you play as all the characters excluding the protagonist. For the most part, the game does all the important things well. The art, voice acting, and humor are all fantastic. However, the game is very short. The game doesn’t allow for you to skip dialogue but if you could skip previously heard dialogue, it would probably take 12-15 minutes to 100% the game. As long as you are fine with that going into The Protagonish I think you’ll have a good time.
I was excited to play some point & click a la Full Throttle. It wasn't medieval Full Throttle at all. It was more like "learning to drive a stick shift and stalling out in first gear." The whole game takes about 15 minutes, most of which is listening to drivel that's not that funny + long winded. Save your money -- for now. College Fun Games, make this much MUCH MUUUUUCH longer, and maybe you'll have a game worth recommending.
Less than ten minutes in and I've played the game twice, the more I play the more bugs I seem to stumble into, screams continuing while he's talking, npcs being in an area they're not supposed to because of an earlier segment, etc. Also there's this thing where it seems like each run the hero gets distracted without getting too spoilery, the game has you make up directions, then immediately has the hero go somewhere else and makes you input the same directions, with any deviation the hero has the same reaction in knowing the 2nd answer is wrong. 2 runs and tho the individuals switched this is by far the worst part of the game, I quit playing with the expectation that I would keep stumbling into the segment and it was completely unnecessary and unfulfilling. I loved the concept, and some of the dialogue is charming, but this definitely needed polished more before release.
