This game was such a delightful surprise! I purchased Mesmalie on a whim, as the artstyle alone was simply too good to pass up. After finishing it, I can safely say it defied my expectations completely. The minigames were fun, polished, and went on for just the perfect amount of time. The humor was top notch, using the animation style to full effect. The music was wonderfully retro and cryptic, the story was exciting to discover as I went on through the game, and that ending... phew! I could go on with the praise, but you get the gist. Play the game, the FULL game, its amazing! It took me about 4.5 hours to beat (although much of that was spent admiring the artwork... seriously stunning, it reminded me in all the best ways of ENA, another series that I love), and I'd say that it was well worth the money for that time.
Wow, just wow, i cannot believe how FREAKING GOOD this game was, the story, the art style, the soundtrack, everything in this game was absolutely peak, and the best thing about this game has to genuinely be MESMER, her character and her
twist in the fourth act
was AMAZING, i would like to go into details but genuinely if you are thinking about buying this game, if you like the art style or if you simply want to play a game with a great story, dont hesitate, BUY IT. 10/10 (would be an 11/10 if we could [strike] crack mesmer [/strike]) (im just kidding please dont take that seriously) Also dont trust the negative reviews (im talking to YOU pal) they are lying
A charmingly cute game, if you complete it make sure to play it once more for the actual true end. Don't forget to after to then listen to the gramophone in the extras section and hear the last one to listen to the voicemail. I have not much to say that others haven't said. But i know one thing to be true. I wish to see Mesmer again in the future in anything else, and i hope that so do you. Would be a shame for her character to be tucked into the drawer forever.
I really wish steam has a "mid" option. It was ok. Art is great, story was ok, kinda predictable honestly, good for the price over all, if short.
An all around excellent story-focused game. Having accidentally set your home ablaze overnight, you go to a house in the woods where a witch promised to help you control your newly discovered magic powers; but something is definitely off about all of this... Mesmalie is a sort of mix between a visual novel and a point'n click game. It is very dialogue heavy but you also get to explore and interact with your environment a lot; some of those interactions are only there for flavor and humor but others will strongly impact how the story unfolds. There are no "puzzles" to solve per se, unless you count trying various different choices/actions and seeing how they impact the narrative, The graphics overall are excellent but Mesmalie's design is especially striking and memorable. The whole game centers around them so it's a good thing that so much work went into giving them lots of unique sprites and animations. Music is well done too, always matching and enhancing the game's mood and tone. As for the story, i think it's quite good. Without spoiling anything, the conclusion most people will see first is purposefully unsatisfying to encourage players to go back and try different choices. And some of the choices you can make are rather surprising and lead to interesting results. If you like weird games, games that let you impact the story in significant ways or just want a fun story full of intrigue and twists, Mesmalie is a safe bet, especially given how cheap it is.
I had never heard of Mesmalie until it popped up on my Steam calendar a few days before release and caught my eye with its art style, and I'm very grateful that it did. An amazing game with a great soundtrack, adorable art, fun minigames, and a memorable story about a charming coven of witches. It’s a relatively short game, but it never feels rushed or incomplete, making the most of its runtime and also offering replayability through different endings and secrets to find. Mesmer was a quirky, mysterious, and surprisingly fleshed-out character who was the highlight of the game, and became even more interesting on a second playthrough. I definitely recommend doing a second playthrough to experience the full story, as many things are easy to miss the first time around, and the game certainly deserves a replay.
Short lovely game with an interesting story, amazing soundtrack and mesmerizing artstyle.
good 7/10 game. mesmer is a good character, with a nice inner and outer conflict. i appreciate how her stimming is just natural in the story, and that alongside her speaking style
and the undertone of "this person is going to kill you but you can tell she's still nice and genuine"
makes her enjoyable whenever she's on screen for the protagonist,
i don't understand the purpose of building up their identity, the game ending with hearing their voice on call, just to not reveal their name. it feels like there was a conflict of interest between writers, though there's no credits button so i can't check; if rain is the only writer, then it feels like sticking to an old plan for the game unnecessarily. there's similar incongruency in other points, like the protagonist being able to recite the ritual and know it's on the fridge before actually knowing the ritual or that it's on the fridge. it's doing the sort of gag undertale does, but in that game it works because saving and loading is the bedrock of its narrative, while this isn't the case here; you can still make a funny meta joke if your game doesn't have a metanarrative, but if it messes with the understanding of one of your characters i'd say don't do it. to be clear though, i like the protagonist and their deal. it's enjoyable how they're relatively unopposed to murdering mesmer compared to the deer, and how they have the option to sort of berate her in session 4 or be nice; it characterizes their inner self well

speaking of session 4 though, it's a bit strange. it's hard to really explain, but it doesn't seem cohesive exactly. mirphie characterizes the conflict as being a communication issue, where none of them would really want it if the other didn't, but you also have malady who's very down with it; this sort of thing would happen in real life, but i guess i would prefer if the story was more focused about what actually went wrong here. cage creature is interesting and i like them but i can't really deny they're decently just meant for exposition because figuring out how to communicate all of the information was difficult. i don't think it'd be bad if less things were said, really. like cage creature says, their name doesn't really matter, and similarly i think the details of the ritual buildup don't exactly matter, those characters' ghosts can just be present over the story instead like with the forest and eye plants, what matters is how mesmer has reacted to it. session 4 in general is the meh-est part of the story, i think if you're going for an unlockable true ending that it should have a major reveals like undertale does while here we don't really learn anything new, but it was still good in general because the characters are just entertaining
minor, but for people with hand issues, it'd be a good idea to have a 'magick' setting that can always be turned on so you don't have to alternate between right and left click. this is already the case in some segments but allowing the player to just turn it on anywhere would be nice again though, i liked the game, there's just more point in saying my flaws with the game than my praise. i hope the devs can well learn from the experience here in whatever they make in the future
You cant keep them waiting any longer,, just Please, play the game,,
