Since there are so few reviews, let's write one. The game is "good". The mechanics aren't amazing, and the puzzles are fairly straight forward. It's not very long, and it doesn't look great, especially for PCVR. But the acting is awesome (no surprise there), the story is compelling and interesting, and the mood is gripping. It's not very long (about 1.5 hours), but also not very expensive. If you are interested in history or this specific chapter of it, or enjoy some moody storytelling laced with easy puzzles, it's well worth the price. If you are looking for a great *game*, this might not be your cup of tea. Let's hope not too many people play through it in under 2 hours and then return it. That's not how we get good VR games, by trying to spend no money on them...
Good job Lucy Liu and everyone on this VR project, this is a game for all ages, I am older, not going to tell my age, but so far so good, wonderful job with VR teleportation.
So, I just bought this. Was excited for it. But I'm a bit surprised to see there is no graphical push for PCVR. Also, the draw distances are insanely short. Objects mere feet away. Honestly I'm torn between holding on to the game and waiting for bug fixes and refunding immediately.
In short, Good game with good story but lacks replay value, as I beat it in 1 hour and 30 mintues
For 17 bucks?!? I was entertained for 102 minutes. Hard to beat that really in 2024. If you like narrative games with some not so difficult puzzles, this is a fun little story game. There is no killing or anything it's just you figuring out how to advance to the next stage. Maybe a little bit of a history lesson depending on how much of the story is actually true. As a PCVR game though there's not a lot of interactivity, it's short i finished in 102 minutes, graphics are sub-standard for a PCVR game (prob was a quest port with no graphical enhancements). I threw some stuff into the water and no water ripples so like no physics at all.
This experience was great. It feels like you're inside an immersive history/storytelling simulation, kind of like an interactive movie. The puzzles are fun and not too challenging, and I enjoyed picking up objects and looking at them since I read in an interview that a lot of historical research went into creating the items, rooms, names for things and so on. It’s a really well told story, and it's a bonus that it's narrated by Lucy Liu who gives a great performance and helps you discover more about Cheng Shih's story. I didn’t have any tech issues (I played after the update). The teleport distance is a bit short but it actually made navigating past the swinging sandbags more challenging. No motion sickness either, which can be a problem for me in other VR games. The graphics also looked good to me. I loved stepping back in time to the seas of 19th century China. Overall, I’d definitely recommend checking this game out if you’re looking a fun, interesting, immersive story-led experience.
This game is a gem for those who seek more than mere action. This is not your typical swashbuckling pirate game. Instead, it’s a rich narrative experience that weaves history and legend together. If i had to put a label on this i would say more escape game than adventure but i like that. The puzzles are fairly obvious but rewarding and overall a good bit of light entertainment for roughly 90 mins depending on play style. My biggest complaint at this time is playing on Quest 3 the controls acted like Vive wands, to play this using the steam runtime gave poor performance but to use the Meta runtime i was unable to change the control scheme. As a compromise i was able to swap to my preferred method which is smooth turning but the speed at which you turn is painfully slow. TLDR its fine if you enjoy this kind of thing, Graphics are fine but not "PC" quality. 10/10 for voice acting and Lucy Liu doing this
Love it so far! Beautiful settings, so much attention to detail on the items and scenery. And love that it's a story with a female protagonist. Really nice to see a historic game about a woman in history for once! Can't wait to keep playing and see how the story unfolds but so far so good!
Really loved this game and everything it stands for. A compelling story with so much attention to detail. It was great fun, and very cinematic. Lucy Liu’s narration is brilliant and the story leaves a great message so worthy of celebrating. Thanks so much for the experience.
Is this a joke? 1) it is recommended to play with a joystick / gamepad. HELLO ? What does fullvr mean ? 2) I know how it is recommended because it doesn't work with the handheld devices. only one hand works, the other floats around somewhere in the area. unbelievable ! RECOMMEND: megan.r [developer] LERN TO READ !!!!!! Unbelievable and you didn't read what I wrote. I expect a full VR game and NOT !!!! PC game but that is exactly what you are NOT !!!! deliver !!! Also funny that you then don't allow another comment ! Again ONLY ONE handheld devices work !!!!! Did you have only one hand ?
