Visually, atmospherically, and musically brilliant the game is let down by a story that feels like an edgy 12 year old wrote it? It's really weird, because the main characters feel completely and utterly out of place in the game's world, and the game might actually have been better without any of their dialogue at all. The visuals may have papered that over, but the game is nonlinear enough that until you do the 'right' thing, it's very unclear what you're even supposed to be doing, with large portions of the map and an entire gameplay function being nigh useless (being able to pick up and throw things, with a 'hold to throw harder' mechanic, is only relevant once). Worse still is that there is (as far as I can tell) one very specific way you can die in the game and when you do it starts you back at the beginning, and getting back to the point you died at requires a pretty substantial walk to reach again.
It's nice to see a horror game in which there is a plausible reason for the protagonist's poor decisions. Like many games by Szymanski, there is a lot of buildup, but in this title,
comparatively little payoff
. His later games like Squirrel Stapler and Iron Lung were much better at eliciting a sense of encroaching doom, although I found the big reveal towards the end very inspired.
Very cool to look back at David's history to where he's at today.
This game is a really unique experience. It's a minimalist walking sim that showcases David's ability to tell a lot with a little; not just graphically, but with the dialog an overall atmosphere. He knows how to put together a bonkers narrative while drawing you in with very human subtleties. It's unreal how different his games are, and I'm really looking forward to checking out his future projects. Also, this plays great on Steam Deck. Just open up the keyboard and hit enter after setting the resolution, and you're good to go!
Walking sims are boring, but I found the characters in this one to be enjoyable and the art style is very beautiful and unique. Overall, it is worth it, but maybe pass if you dislike walking sims.
Snore fest, I seriously almost fell asleep while playing this...

Well um....yeah that was ...a thing...of sorts
Io l’ho adorato.
bastante void lo recomiendo
