I'm sad I can't refund this because I ended up getting it 2 months ago and just played it recently. To put it simply, this is a very nice looking walking simulator with occasional very light exploration elements to find collectibles like models of the characters, audio logs, and records of the game's music. The gameplay itself is shallow and really boils down to pointing your companion in a direction, watching him interact with something, hiding from a monster by entering a wardrobe, then proceeding into the next area. As a side note, this game's camera made me nauseous and I had to stop for a minute here and there before I could continue playing. This may not apply to you or many others for that matter, but I think it's important to mention it as a possibility if you are also prone to these kinds of things.
Exactly what the trailer shows. It's like i'm 14 again, before Tim Burton stopped trying and I got tired of him. mixed with a darksouls-y approach to storytelling. I hate walking sims, but the atmosphere here made it amazing.
Artwork and music are awesome. cool little 5-6 hour walking simulator
Bugged and not vorking VR mode. Just check discussion thread.
Super cool game! The artistic value alone, along with the background sounds and music make this a cool treat! Creepy AF characters and so worth your time! When I first purchased this game, it was on a sale a few months back with the intention of playing it - but I didn't get to play it for a few months. I'm sure glad I did now! I highly recommend this game. Very nice job!
Amazing lovely relaxing and emotional game
Everyone needs to take The Midnight Walk. I recommend this game 1000% very good experience
Boring af
Dripping with Burton-esk imagery, The Midnight Walk is a gorgeous walking sim with limited puzzles that has swelling music and fascinating lore ideas. It's a shame it doesn't extend much beyond that, but you get what you pay for here. 7.5/10
I really wish I could give it a sideways thumb... Visually it was one of the most beautiful and artfully done games I've ever played. On more than one occasion I found myself stopping to just look around and take in the details around me. Where the game fell off a little for me was the story and actual gameplay. There really isn't much to it and I struggled a bit to keep track of what the story was trying to tell or guide me. There is a reason you have a little sprite or light beam leading you around most of the game, without it you'd be lost... Most of the game is very repetitive. You run around hiding from various monsters and use your senses to find hidden objects. You use your fire and fire buddy to light candles\objects to move along through "puzzles". It only really has one puzzle, pulling levers to match a shape. It's more of a linear stop motion movie you're directing. Again, very-very cool game visually, but overall it felt a little empty to me. I'm happy I played it through but can see how some would not like this game at all. Visuals 10\10 Gameplay 5\10
