About
The Message from Deep Space is an odyssey of puzzles. Take the role of the mission's Translator, working alongside a scrappy band of scientists, and venture headfirst into the world of deciphering an alien language --- completely from the ground up.
Set in 1973, Earth is the recipient of a meteorite that broadcasts radio waves. In the role of the mission's Translator, the player is responsible for designing responses to the meteorite's transmissions, which, if correct, will elicit new messages from the meteorite. Only through this radio wave dialogue will patterns, words, syntax, and meaning all take form, leaving but one question:
What is it the aliens want to say?
Translate an alien language
Learn about an alien civilization
Interface with a retro computer
Manage a user-driven dictionary
Design radio transmissions by frequency
Collaborate with scientists that respond to your actions
+1000 in-game dialogues
+30 minutes OST
+30 hours of gameplay
Inspired by The Golden Record aboard the Voyager I space probe, The Message from Deep Space takes a realistic approach to deciphering an interstellar message. Beginning with the limited universal constants available to technologically advanced civilizations, the message spans a range of real-world fields of math & science. Decoding the message is tough, but with the support of the game's meticulous linguist, the single-minded computer programmer, and the affable astronomer, it is a challenge fit for anyone with Curiosity and Perseverance.

It's like I got dropped straight into an Andy Weir book. If you have a single nerd bone in you body you will love this game.
Beautiful game. Feels like a combination of Outer Wilds and Project Hail Mary. The demo is great and got me hooked! Doubles Helixes Intertwined is such a banger.
I haven't finished the game yet, but so far, it's one of my top games of all time. I haven't been able to stop thinking about it since I played the demo, and I've been recommending the full release to just about everyone I know. It's definitely confusing at times, but every time something just clicks with a frequency definition it makes it all worth it. I can't recommend it highly enough.

I almost never leave review for games, but for this one it felt necessary. My time playing "The Message from Deep Space" was incredibly meaningful, and it found a way to connect my love for language, science, and computers all into one beautiful experience. I highly recommend, both for scientists and those fascinated by the Universe. This will be one of those games (like "Outer Wilds") that I will rave about for years and years :)
If you want to wildly oscillate between feeling really smart and really stupid, this game is great! 10/10 You'll stare blankly at your screen for ten minutes, then get hit by a brain surge and solve ten in a row. It's awesome!
One of the worst implemented games in the history of the universe. Unskippable 5 minute introduction. The game changes mouse speed to make the game unusable - why not just use the system mouse speed? Hidden save system that doesn't even work. I've got maybe 200 Steam games, this is the second one I've asked for a refund. Absolute trash. Maybe the puzzles are great. Maybe the game is fun. Maybe I'm an idiot. I love complex puzzle game, but can't get past the first nine minutes.
The best game i've ever had the pleasure of playing. It will forever hold a special place in my heart, the same place as Outer Wilds and Return Of The Obra Dinn.
This game is incredible. It's slightly rough around the edges at times, and it can certainly be frustrating to get stuck for a long time on one signal, but it's so insanely rewarding. I haven't been this invested in a game in a long while and I'm truly so very grateful for the experience. Crafting an experience this moving is an amazing feat and I am so very happy for the developer.
PROUD AND YEARN
GOTY for the type of person that likes Project Hail Mary
Only a portion of the way through and am having a blast. The layered structure of the puzzles is incredible, with your early understanding pointing the way towards later solutions. I appreciate that it encourages you to play through your ignorance on stuff. Sometimes you'll be unsure why your answer worked, but every bit of context builds understanding. The look and feel are also spectacular. Crunchy in a super charming way.
