The Manhole: Masterpiece Edition

Crap I thought I was buying Manhunt.

The game Manhole defines the word "whimsy!" As a little kid, I spent a long time exploring and interacting with all the characters. It took me years to find it again here on Steam, and I still love it! While there's no villain or plot, it's a casual experience of wandering in the imaginary, not sure what surprises lie in every little thing until you experience them for yourself. I recommend this game to kids, even kids at heart. This was an incredible game for Cyan to start with.

รีวิว The Manhole: Masterpiece Edition ยิ่งเล่นยิ่งปวดกบาล ผลงานแรกสุดในปี 1988 จากผู้สร้างเกม Myst เราเล่นเป็นมนุษย์เดินดินที่หลงทางเข้าไปในต่างมิติและเจอเหล่าสัตว์พูดได้ ทั้งมังกรที่พูดสำเนียงคนดำ ช้างที่พูดสำเนียงอินเดีย ทหารหมูที่คิดว่าตัวเองเป็นสุดยอดนักกวีเหมือนแฮมเล็ต และอื่นๆอีกมากมาย พร้อมกับเนื้อเรื่องสุดเพี้ยนในโลกใต้บาดาล ตัวเกมไม่มีแก้ปริศนาตามทาง แต่จะเน้นสำรวจสิ่งของตามฉากเป็นหลัก ซึ่งเหมาะสำหรับเด็กเล็กๆเล่นซะมากกว่า (สังเกตจากหนังสือ ABC ที่วางอยู่ในลิ้นชักบ้านกระต่าย ซึ่งเปิดอ่านได้ และบางหน้าโคตรกวนตีน) ใช้เวลาไม่ถึงชั่วโมงก็สามารถสำรวจได้ครบทุกที่แล้ว หากกดปุ่ม Touch Me ตรงหัวดับเพลิงตอนเริ่มเกม เราก็จะวาร์ปมาที่บ้านของกระต่ายซึ่งจะชวนเรามานั่งดื่มชาอย่างเป็นมิตร ส่วนที่พิเศษของเกมนี้คือ หากเราคลิกเม้าส์กดไปที่ทีวี หน้าจอก็จะฉายเบื้องหลังเกม Myst ภาคแรกที่ออกในปีเดียวกัน ความยาว 13 นาทีให้เราได้ดู (แต่จอเล็กมากกกกก) สรุปก็คือทั้งเกมส์ ถูกสร้างขึ้นมาเพื่อฉายเบื้องหลังตัวนี้ตัวเดียว นับถือใจจริงๆ ประเสริฐแท้!!! ถ้าไม่ติดที่การเคลื่อนไหวในเกมเชื่องช้าและสะดุดบ่อยเหมือนเล่นเกมเก่า คงเขียนชมมากกว่านี้ไปแล้ว ไม่สมกับเป็น Masterpiece Edition เลยอะโด่!!! (หากเล่นเกมนี้ใน Window 10 ขึ้นไปจะเล่นไม่ได้ วิธีแก้คือให้เข้าไปในไฟล์เกม คลิกขวาตรง manhole.exe (รูปกระต่ายปกขาว) แล้วเลือก Properties จากนั้นก็เลือก Compatibility มองหา Compatibility mode คลิกถูกตรง Run this program in compatibility mode for แล้วเลือก Window XP (Service Pack 2) ก็จะสามารถเข้าเล่นได้ตามปกติ)

Fun little point and click game from the makers of Myst. Definitely for a younger audience. Small simple puzzles, odd characters with voice acting, ridiculous jokes, all in all entertaining for a kid for 20 minutes.

I got this game for my daughter to play, and she enjoyed it. It was pretty easy for her to go through and while she didn't necessarily follow any kind of story line or anything she still really enjoyed playing it.

My god, took me right back to my childhood. Thanks Cyan Worlds! Can't wait for the remaster edition. Worth every cent.

It's a good remake of the original game, adding some new rooms and a complete visual overhaul. My main complaint is that the world feels very small especially compared to Cosmic Osmo which released 5 years prior to this remake and had similar game play. Needless to say I was not drawn into this world the same way I was to Osmo's. This may very much differ from person to person though. I also experienced some visual glitches which is annoying because the game is basically all visuals. They also really should have added the original version of the game to this release as a bonus. Go check out Osmo instead of this.
