รีวิว The Manhole: Masterpiece Edition ยิ่งเล่นยิ่งปวดกบาล ผลงานแรกสุดในปี 1988 จากผู้สร้างเกม Myst เราเล่นเป็นมนุษย์เดินดินที่หลงทางเข้าไปในต่างมิติและเจอเหล่าสัตว์พูดได้ ทั้งมังกรที่พูดสำเนียงคนดำ ช้างที่พูดสำเนียงอินเดีย ทหารหมูที่คิดว่าตัวเองเป็นสุดยอดนักกวีเหมือนแฮมเล็ต และอื่นๆอีกมากมาย พร้อมกับเนื้อเรื่องสุดเพี้ยนในโลกใต้บาดาล ตัวเกมไม่มีแก้ปริศนาตามทาง แต่จะเน้นสำรวจสิ่งของตามฉากเป็นหลัก ซึ่งเหมาะสำหรับเด็กเล็กๆเล่นซะมากกว่า (สังเกตจากหนังสือ ABC ที่วางอยู่ในลิ้นชักบ้านกระต่าย ซึ่งเปิดอ่านได้ และบางหน้าโคตรกวนตีน) ใช้เวลาไม่ถึงชั่วโมงก็สามารถสำรวจได้ครบทุกที่แล้ว หากกดปุ่ม Touch Me ตรงหัวดับเพลิงตอนเริ่มเกม เราก็จะวาร์ปมาที่บ้านของกระต่ายซึ่งจะชวนเรามานั่งดื่มชาอย่างเป็นมิตร ส่วนที่พิเศษของเกมนี้คือ หากเราคลิกเม้าส์กดไปที่ทีวี หน้าจอก็จะฉายเบื้องหลังเกม Myst ภาคแรกที่ออกในปีเดียวกัน ความยาว 13 นาทีให้เราได้ดู (แต่จอเล็กมากกกกก) สรุปก็คือทั้งเกมส์ ถูกสร้างขึ้นมาเพื่อฉายเบื้องหลังตัวนี้ตัวเดียว นับถือใจจริงๆ ประเสริฐแท้!!! ถ้าไม่ติดที่การเคลื่อนไหวในเกมเชื่องช้าและสะดุดบ่อยเหมือนเล่นเกมเก่า คงเขียนชมมากกว่านี้ไปแล้ว ไม่สมกับเป็น Masterpiece Edition เลยอะโด่!!! (หากเล่นเกมนี้ใน Window 10 ขึ้นไปจะเล่นไม่ได้ วิธีแก้คือให้เข้าไปในไฟล์เกม คลิกขวาตรง manhole.exe (รูปกระต่ายปกขาว) แล้วเลือก Properties จากนั้นก็เลือก Compatibility มองหา Compatibility mode คลิกถูกตรง Run this program in compatibility mode for แล้วเลือก Window XP (Service Pack 2) ก็จะสามารถเข้าเล่นได้ตามปกติ)

Out of nostalgia I bought this game. Not sure why I did though. You can literally go through everything in about ten minutes...

O interesse nesse jogo não deve passar do saudosismo pelos Point n Click antigos. O jogo roda em resolução baixa (480p), tem pouca margem de erro para o jogador, poucas possibilidades, é voltado para o público infantil e custa o que não vale.

It's not made clear from the description, but this title is not a true "game" so much as a software toy. You explore the world and click on and view quirky stuff. There's no goals or endings or real puzzles or anything like that. It's not entirely without merit. It's an interesting piece of gaming history, for one thing, as the first offering from the brothers that would eventually go on to make the extremely important Myst. There's some fun stuff to discover in here as well and some parts that I remember fondly. I'll probably go through it again at some point. It's an extremely niche product, however. It's also not as good as Cyan's later title Cosmic Osmo. Finally, while playable on modern computers, it's not the most stable experience and could prove pretty buggy. As such, I think you would only want to get this if you are interested in it for its historical significance or are a Cyan completionist, and don't recommend it for anybody else.
