About
Enlist in the ranks of The Light Brigade, humanity’s last line of defense, and journey through procedurally-generated battlegrounds as many times as it takes to free the souls of the fallen trapped within.

Realistic gunplay inspired by historical World War weaponry creates tense battles against increasingly difficult enemy soldiers, creatures, and bosses. In VR, aiming, shooting, and reloading bolt-action rifles, machine guns and pistols feels highly immersive and tactile.

Powerful light magic pairs beautifully with gunplay. From infusing your rifle's bullets with light magic to raining fireballs on enemy hordes, magic spells complement your rifle by adding more combat tools to your arsenal.

Start your run with a standard-issue rifle and loot for powerful attachments like explosive charms, poison gun barrels, tactical scopes, silencers, and more. If you fall to enemy fire, survive long enough to retrieve your fallen soul or lose your run progress to permadeath.

Cleanse the souls of the fallen to climb the ranks of The Light Brigade and spend rank points to upgrade your weapon, passive abilities, and spells. Unlock new player classes and gain access to new weapons, loadouts and play styles, adding even more variety to your runs.

Loot treasure chests and enemies during your run to collect an array of magical tarot cards, each with unique powers, buff/debuffs and passive abilities. Acquire stronger versions of these cards to create devastating stacking effects.

Infinitely procedurally-generated battlegrounds make each run completely unique, forcing you to traverse carefully through ever-changing hostile environments. Enemy soldiers lurk around every corner, so position and strategy is crucial for survival.

What led to the world's downfall? What do the Obsidian Forces want? Uncover these mysteries and bring the world back from the brink of total darkness before it's too late.

takes a second to get used to but a lot of fun when you realize what the heck is going on around here
I hate rogue like / lite games. I simply do not have the time in my life to "git gud" while losing progress but this game... this scratched some itch I didn't know I had. Maybe it was the very satisfying shooting and casual but still interactive gun manipulations. The overall vibe, the progression and the slight rising tension of possibly losing it all. The bosses can be a bit too "much" as they are so different from the rest of the game, but once you google them before hand, they can give very little issue. Vibes are cool and pretty much the best game of its sort in VR we have yet gotten. I wish all the best for the devs, will be keeping a close eye on their next titles.
It's a cool game, on principle. let's start with :
the Good Stuff
Some of the best, if not the best, VR gunplay out there. The guns have weight, are easy to manipulate, manipulating the parts and reloading is great. The graphics are nothing exceptionnal but they're good enough, and the game runs great. The level design is pretty good, especially for procedural generation, with enough covers and verticality This would be a pretty enjoyable game if not for :
the Bad Stuff
The worst offender is By Far the brightness. The game is dark, and I'm not spekaing about the general tone. Some levels are straight up unplayable as is. (looking at you, Sewers) Let me say it again; it is to a point where you cannot navigate the levels. And guess what happends when your hp is low ? The game gets Even Darker. ReShade is a Must for playing it. The game balance is a Mess. It's a good game, yes, but not a good roguelike. I don't think it's normal that HP regeneration items are this rare when they affect your run that much. Yes, you get one HP refill after each boss fight, but that's kinda it unless you loot some. Also, I can understand that some items are better for some guns than other, but Chain Shot is just plain overpowered, managing to be better than it's two competitors. Guess where the last boss is located ? In one of the darkest area of the map. A boss whose every movement you have to watch out for, is unseeable half the time because the devs put a fog effect in it's area.
In conclusion :
I don't think it's a game that's worth it. It's hard, it's frustating, it has very little in terms of making cool builds, it's unfair, and you need to mod it just to see where you're going. I don't think there will ever be an update (as of writing this the last one was 14 months ago) That being said, it has The Best guns of any VR game I've played. Which is frustrating.
an update after 21 more hours, all the successes, and beating the highest difficulty :
I stand by what I said. You only really feel the tactical souls-like sweat on the first few levels, and any good build will have you picking enemies one by one or shooting at walls in the later levels. The design of the last one, in particular, is egregiously bad for an fps map. There's some cool stuff in the upgrades like how picking one will unlock more options related to it - it's a shame that you don't know what these options are. I continued playing mostly because the guns are amazing, I still don't recommend you play it.
I've been enjoying it so far. There are a few quirks I think need to be worked out (doubt they will, but a boy can dream) but gunplay is interesting and the world concept is pretty cool. It's like if Trench Crusade got a 13-rated game.
Deserves more hype. A rougelike shooter that's actually fun. A VR gem.
For the moment it's really fun, I rarely play rogue likes but this one works really well, I also like how the progression system was managed. My only complaint, is that the optimization is really bad, I have a rx 9070 xt and my pc can't run it at max graphics (it was able to run well RE9 in vr at max graphics, for a comparison), but luckily the graphics don't matter that much for this game, so it's not really an issue.
Отличный рогалик. Попробовал два класса и открыл третий, ещё остались закрытые классы для реиграбельности. Полный забег составил около 2,5-3 часов.
A fantastic and challenging rogue-lite.
Cool simple game
