About
The Last Starship is a 2D space construction and simulation game, where you design and upgrade your own star ship. Use it to explore vibrant star systems, uncover unique resources, and discover hidden secrets. Your choices shape your experience — become a daring pirate hunter, a resourceful miner, a space engineer, a reliable spacebus driver, and more! Dive into colorful star systems in this ever-expanding sandbox environment, and enjoy regular free updates throughout the development process. Your journey through the cosmos is just beginning!

With your crew awaiting orders, it’s time to bring your starship to life. Build the vessel of your wildest imagination, or recreate legendary ships from iconic movies and fiction. Stop by the local space colony to gather equipment and supplies. Start with a reactor to power your engines, and then lay down crucial pipework and electrical systems. Keep life support steady, or your journey may be cut short.

Unleash the full potential of our community’s creativity through ship sharing on the Steam Workshop. If you can envision it, you can design it, share it, and let others engage in epic adventures and battles with your creation.

Take full command of your starship’s arsenal. Will you mount lasers for precision shots, or railguns for devastating impact? Do you favor heavier armor for resilience, or enhanced agility to outmaneuver foes? Opt for stealth to slip by unnoticed, or load up on raw firepower to dominate the battlefield. The Last Starship isn’t just about firepower; it’s a test of tactical thinking, where each encounter demands careful planning, adaptability, and precise strikes.

The sector map opens the gateway to a vibrant, procedurally generated universe brimming with missions, anomalies, and unexpected discoveries. Meet a diverse array of characters — some allies, some adversaries — each with their own compelling stories and requests for help. Embark on daring rescues, deliver vital cargo, or hunt down notorious pirates. Every decision you make shapes your path, carving your unique journey through an ever-changing galaxy full of wonder and peril.

Space is cold, dark, and vast. To survive, you must gather essential resources — water, oxygen, and fuel — to maintain your ships and sustain your crew. Whether you’re deploying drones for space wreck salvage, or using lasers to extract raw materials for a massive mining rig, establishing a seamless operation is crucial. Only then, can you secure the resources needed to thrive in the depths of space.

I like how the game implements its systems. It is cool to be able to easily move fluids around and manufacture items without the need for complex systems. The early game is solid. There is enough to learn to hook you at the start but it ends pretty abruptly. You can pretty much buy everything from the shop that you could want and once you get to mining you can mass produce enough money to buy whatever you need. Systems are basic and there is only a few places to visit, each one just an empty plot of space with the express purpose of building on your ship, mining, or fighting some random enemies. Since there is nothing you can tech to that isn't in the shop most of that is pointless. You need to top up certain resources but that is hardly an issue, your ship can run on crews of about 10 people. Overall the game has some promise i guess as a kill time sandbox but it needs some serious work on pretty much every angle
I wouldn't recommend the game in its current version. The campaign is relatively short and once its finished there really isn't any reason to play. Most of my 50hrs play time was spent just waiting for things to happen, I didn't bother to make lots of ships because you have to jump to different sectors to buy enough parts for your ship and half of the items you actually need are unbale to be crafted, and each station only holds a few of them so you are forced to wait around for them to 'restock'. Mining is a bit weak as the mining sectors only have a few nodes for each resource and if they are depleted you are again waiting around for them to respawn. Most of the missions in the campaign are 'produce X amount of this item' so you are again just waiting around for them to be built. There are also area hazards which vanish, the mining sectors have asteroids which can hit your ship, so you fly around buying gattling cannons to install and defend the mining ship, but then you get back and there are no asteroids any more. Same with a lightning storm in a few sectors. I found that you could make fighter docks all on your own so I built a huge ship with around 100 fighter dock and they were enough to easily finish the game. There was no real connection to any of your crew either, no need to keep them happy or take care of them, if you ran out of resources and they died you could just go buy more so that aspect of the game is missing, It would be nice if you had a pilot and cockpit or sleeping quarters. Update 25 just came out which may of removed a lot of the annoying parts (collecting hundreds of processors with your drones) and allowing you to craft more items but with crafting them yourself means more time waiting around and more time waiting for mining resources to respawn. I haven't tried the update and probably wont play the game again as there is no reason to play after the campaign.
Awesome Sandbox Space game where you can build ships to your hearts content, abuse capitalism and mass produce whatever you want, almost unlimited replayability
Fun while it lasted. Lacks content at this stage of development.
Its not super long but, the game mechanics are easy to pick up and has good re-playability. An enjoyable experience that the devs are still making solid improvements upon.
Overall I think they have a good foundation. BUT! If you're thinking of buying this, know this. Every aspect of the game and its features are brief. Combat is very simple Factory aspect of the game is small in scope Colony management is bare-boned After maybe 15 hours, you'll run out of things to do and have explored everything.

Super chill and relaxing game. Kudos to the devs for releasing updates pretty regularly. I like that most things are self maintaining. You can create fuel, minerals for crafting. I check the game out every so often.
