Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.43/day in the week to Sep 3 → 1.14/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,419 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I'm surprised by how much I like this game. The story is really good but the thing that keeps me playing are the characters. The last time I've enjoyed a cast like this was in my younger years playing Final Fantasy X for the first time. This game is a bop. Get it.
Where do I even begin? I started my Trails journey with the Liberl Trilogy(FC/1st, SC/2nd, 3rd) and then Zero and Azure which is the Crossbell Duology. Now I'm entering this journey, which has been called the Cold Steel arc. It has FIVE GAMES. Oh boy... I'll start with the positives of this particular first entry. For the first real 3D Trails game, it looks nice. I had max settings and one of the settings for Shadows is "Insane". I can see why it has that name, it fits. The characters look nice and distinct. The different locations you go to are vibrant enough and distinct. Some of the characters are pretty cool personality and writing wise. Also, the ending is fantastic. Middle of the road stuff....the soundtrack. I did like a few pieces here and there such as the opening, the ending, the day to day school theme, and the final boss theme. Everything else didn't stand out, not even the battle theme. Out of all the characters in Class VII including the main man Rean himself, I vibed with four of them...out of eleven. That's a sharp decline from previous games where I absolutely adored ALL of the party members if not 99% of them. Also some of the humor was hit or miss. I don't know if that's a translation issue or not, but I found myself laughing harder with the previous games than this one. It might have leaned on the tropes a bit too much here. One last thing I found mid, the routine. You are a student, I understand that. However, every chapter is basically the same. Pre-Free Day, Free Day, Practical Exam, Field Study, something goes haywire, Boss, rinse repeat. This might be the formula of previous Trails games, but they did a MUCH better job at hiding it. The best way to do a routine in a game is to either hide it or make it the main focus. I believe they tried to do both here to mixed results. What I didn't like is what they did to the Quartz system. The previous games made the Quartz system a bit of a game within a game. You had to balance out the quartz that you wanted with what arts you would received and what combination could synergize the best. In this game, each quartz corresponds to an ability ONLY. If you want a particular powerful spell, you just slot it in. You might think that's great. I disagree. I think it's a massive step down. Not only that, magic in general is far more costly, slow, and ineffective. You are better off slotting for Crafts in this game. They're faster, the abilities for Crafts sometimes far exceed any Art/magic you can use, and it uses Craft Points. Craft points regain either automatically with a piece of equipment, with a healing item, A Master Quartz, or with normal attacks...including Crafts. You can easily sweep this game with crafts alone, it's that busted in your favor. I like my Trails games with a fine balance of Arts and Crafts(no, that's not an intended pun). If this review seems negative, I promise you it isn't. I still recommend it if you are already playing this series. This game is a TERRIBLE place to start though. I will die on the hill that you must start with Trails in the Sky 1st/FC. This game tries to invoke some of those vibes, and I understand that quite a few did start with this game. However, there are far too many things that happen in the plot and the background that make it an abysmal starting point. Don't skip to this game either. Come here naturally. So, yes play it. PS: How dare you lock Shining Poms behind DLC. I miss those Metal Slime references. Actually the DLC for this series started here and it gets...yeah. Thankfully, you don't need any of it.

UPD.
Played after the Trails in the Sky 1st Remake, now officially a Trails fan. While quite rough, showing the developer first 3D efforts, it has a certain charm that keeps you playing.
Falcom knocks it out of the park again with another engaging Trails game. I'll admit, it was hard for me to graduate from the "chibi" art style of the past 5 games, as that art style has a lot of charm to it. And if I'm being completely honest, this game is a little ugly; looks-wise. The character models are a little rough around the edges with the 2D lip movement on a 3D model, and the janky walking animations, but I was able to settle into the graphics of Trails of Cold Steel nicely after the first few hours. But all of that aside, this game is a home-run. It's a setup type of game, with lots of loose ends that don't tie up until the very end (and some might not tie up at all, which gives you motivation to play the second game), so be prepared for lots of character development arcs, and story arcs that won't immediately be interesting, but as you let this game come into it's own, the payoff is huge. Much like every Trails game that starts an arc, the characters start out kinda boring, but that's how Falcom rolls. In the beginning, I couldn't even remember which character was which because they were all basically the same person, but as the game progressed they all come into their own and have very deep backstories that are engaging and exciting. I thought Rean was going to be a lame protagonist from the start, but I ended up loving his development over the course of the game. I see comments saying that this is their "First and last" Trails game, and I don't blame them for saying that. Starting with this game as your first Trails game must be miserable, because you miss all of the references to prior events that are somehow tied to Cold Steel. Prior events that you've played through before the events of this game. Also there are some characters in this game that you would already have background knowledge on if you've played everything before this, and that's largely what makes the plot of this game exciting. I know there's a lot of "gatekeepy" Trails fans that say you have to start from the beginning or else it's pointless, and I'm starting to agree with them. Trails is meant to be an unforgettable journey from start to finish, and if you jump into it in the middle then it won't resonate as well in my opinion. You should absolutely play this game, but only if you've played the first 5 games. Looking forward to CS2, but after having played the first 6 games, I might have a controversial opinion on my order of games from "worst" to best. I would say it's Zero < Azure < CS1 < Sky FC = Sky 3rd < Sky SC
Прикольно. В целом средненько в сравнении с trails in the sky.
bruh this is me replaying it lol. first trails game holds a special place in my heart, but be sure to play this series in order (sky FC first)
While I do recommend playing this game if you are already invested in the world of Trails, I was personally disappointed by the end of the game. It felt like a huge step down from the Sky & Crossbell arcs. The side characters were really annoying/full of tropes I hate and some of the main characters got barely any character development. I get that they're probably saving it for the next 3 games, but still, for an introduction game, it just felt extremely surface-level at times. I won't be jumping into Cold Steel 2 for a while as I'm honestly not excited to continue.
This was my entry game for the Legend of Heroes games, and I wasn't quite sure what I was getting into when I started this one. It took me roughly 4 years to get through this game because at the time, I just didn't have an hour and a half to spare to read an incredibly long cut scene. I'm past that now, and I was able to plow through the second half of the game in about a week, while still working, and my gosh the second half ramps things up. The ending also pushed me straight into the second game, and that was completed quite quick. I will be completing all of the Legend of Heroes games, solely because of my experience with this game, so that's a thumbs up from me.
