Takumi Sumino is a totally average teenager living in the Tokyo Residential Complex, a place where every day is much like the last and nothing bad ever happens. All that changes when freakish monsters attack the town and start wreaking havoc. A strange creature calling himself Sirei appears and offers Takumi the power to protect those he holds dear... All he has to do is stab himself in the chest!
The next thing he knows, Takumi is in Last Defense Academy, a school in the middle of nowhere surrounded by a wall of otherworldly flames. He and 14 other students have been drafted into the Special Defense Unit, a team tasked with keeping the school safe for the next 100 days. How much are they willing to sacrifice to take back their normal lives and save the world from the grotesque school invaders?
The curtain rises on 100 days of war and despair...
Takumi's choices will decide his future, but there's no telling what kind of consequences these decisions might have...
When the invaders attack, it's up to you to protect the school in SRPG battles.
Use each student's unique Specialist Skills to turn the tide of battle in your favor!
Spend time with your teammates to deepen your bonds, or explore the wilderness and ruins outside the school.

I like this game a lot. I recommend this game for people that enjoyed games like Danganronpa or Zero Escape, like myself, however for anybody else I absolutely do NOT recommend this. This is a 100+ hours visual novel game, so I felt it deserved a long review, I'll try not to spoil stuff as much as possible. Right now I've played this game for about 80 hours, and it feels like I'm only about 1/4 in the story, take that as you will. TLDR for those that won't read all this, as I've said a couple of times in this review, this is a PEGI 18 game and it is their most tame and safe work to date, they were worried about not showing pantyshots more than making a good game, it does not take risks and it is not bold, it has no balls and no soul. It's a Japanese game that does not feel Japanese at all and people will chimp out saying this is a good thing, but it loses any identity it could have in favor of being too much like an already beloved series (Danganronpa) and too washed up/castrated to appeal to all of their western toddler modern audience playerbase. I thought Kodaka was getting too facetious and senile when he made Danganronpa V3, making meta commentary jokes and insults to the player, so I was hoping this one would be different, only for him to double down completely on content like this. So a bit of context first, this game is a collaborative effort featuring writers of famous mystery visual novel game series, Danganronpa (Kazutaka Kodaka) and Zero Escape (Kotaro Uchikoshi). Supposedly Kodaka is the writer of the main and true ending while Uchikoshi led a team of writers to make everything else, all the other 99 endings and branching paths. When they were making it, there was talk of a hundred different endings, each being dense enough to be considered a true ending of their own, which is a flat out lie, there are multiple endings that are just "you died and that's it" or "you left the academy and kept wandering around, alone or with others". Seriously, there are so many useless endings that'll make your eyes roll to the back of your head, it's really annoying because of wasted potential. Since this is a game that the whole premise is surviving 100 days in a wacky academy with a 100 endings the game can get pretty tiring at times, the first route I "started" the game was the comedic one and it made me so angry, it felt like a huge waste of time because why bother making multiple comedy routes and endings if none of them are funny at all, and it completely trivialized the game since I upgraded relevant characters and tools to the max, which brings me to the next topic, the fights. The game's battles are described as SRPG fights, where you need to "use each student's unique Specialist Skills to turn the tide of battle in your favor!", which most of the time just means "use the protagonist to end this in one single turn". I really wish they cared more for these battles, this is all the game has besides the visual novel stuff, and sadly it just falls short of being challenging and interesting. They knew people would get tired fighting the same fights, they even give you the choice of skipping battles if you have already fought them, so why not make more, or different fights, at times you question why even upgrade your characters at all. Writing. This is where Kodaka's and Uchikoshi's talents really shine, right? The writing is supposed to be the selling point of a visual novel, but sadly it achieved the feat of being worst than Danganronpa V3 and Somnium files even. The game expects you to keep track of plot points, but it just can't help being long and slow-paced in a bad way, you're supposed to do the hundred days a lot so some routes feel really mind-numbing. What's really frustrating is that the writers do not respect the rules and set pieces of the game, sometimes the Reviving Machines work, sometimes they don't, in each route is not uncommon for characters to act completely different from their Route 0 versions, sometimes characters hate you, sometimes they love you, at times they're capable of horrible things, other times not so much, it feels like they just can't write and have to come up with hogwash for the plot to make sense. They make it so hard to like these characters because every route they feel so different or do something that makes you change your opinion about them on the spot. The main offenders here are Maruko and Amemiya, every time they're on screen it's just lame jokes, they're responsible for a lot of bad things happening in the plot simply for being too stupid. One of the game's selling points is "spend time with your teammates to deepen your bonds", but unlike Danganronpa it feels really shallow and you get nothing of it, no item, nothing, these "deep bond" conversations are usually stale nothingburgers or completely breaks said character's personality, some of them were so bad I wish I could unwatch them, it felt like they made it bad on purpose to spite players. Also what's with the localization of this game? It's a complete joke, whenever Takemaru talks about transitioning or cracking eggs or whatever ADHD modern manchild mentally ill terminally online reddit user nonsense it completely removes me from the game's atmosphere, and it's not just one character, other characters say stuff about "clownery" or "alpha male this" or "beta male that", this stuff gets old really fast, in the context of playing the game a year after it came out, these kinds of snarky jokes and terms get old a week after they're created. At times I've had to play the game in Japanese just to check if the characters really said some insane out of pocket bull, but that's what you can expect from a game that has "cuckoldmaker" written unironically. This game really needed an Yun Yun Syndrome kind of localization purge, this is completely unacceptable, this PEGI 18 game treats you like a room temp IQ infant, it is dialogue written in bad faith and in hopes to humiliate the reader. What else, exploration gets old really fast, they didn't properly make use of it at all, it could be interesting but it's just padding to make the bloated game even bloatier. Soundtrack is nice, but it just sounds like Danganronpa, there's almost nothing really original here, they use Clair de Lune about 73 times, it loses its charm and impact way too fast, there are plenty more classical pieces they could've used, even this is rehashed from Danganronpa V3, and there they only use it for far less scenarios. Just play Virtue's Last Reward, it's Uchikoshi's last good game and it does the whole multiple routes schtick so much better and condensed, it was made before him and Kodaka became massive westaboos, they keep trying to appeal to american zoomers and it shows so bad, it's embarrassing seeing 40 something year olds writing for what they imagine is a younger playerbase when their real playerbase is the same age obese neckbeards like myself, that they keep making fun of in-game. As I've said a couple of times in this review, this is a PEGI 18 game and it is their most tame and safe work to date, it does not take risks and it is not bold, it has no balls and no soul. It's shivering and cowering scared of offending anyone, and you can't help but feel sorry for it. Kodaka and his goons' idea of being edgy and mature has transformed into meta jokes and calling the player a moron. Playing this game as a Danganronpa fan feels like a toxic relationship, sometimes you feel good after playing it, sometimes you feel bad and frustrated. It's tragic that we won't ever get the same quality of writing as DR1-2 or 999/VLR ever again, Kodaka keeps trying to make not-Danganronpas and failing spetacularly (Zanki Zero, Rain Code, Tribe Nine) and I've just had enough of it, the fact that a Danganronpa 2x2 is coming out soon is proof enough of that, just go back to making Danganronpa you hack, and Uchikoshi will forever live as "the writer of zero escape". Where's Kyle Uchi?
This game genuinely drained me SO hard that I don't even have the energy to go into depth about why I can't recommend it. Music is repetitive, half of it sounds like Danganronpa remixes, and claire de lune gets spammed to hell. Character bark lines consist of breathing and moaning which got on my nerves at first but you get used to it eventually. Character designs are ugly or meh, battle system is pretty fun at first but gets repetitive and tiring quickly, as well as the amount of free time you get. Honestly I was optimistic at first. This was the best game / project Too Kyo has produced since coming together, and I actually quite enjoyed my first playthrough of the game, ending on a big cliff-hanger with a lot of mysteries left, I was pretty excited to explore the other routes. However the obsession with making everything "100" has absolutely ruined this game. 100 endings and 99% of them are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ garbage. They waste your time, spamming free time and announcement cutscenes and fights ALL the time, you will get bored and worn out FAST and you have to do it over and over and over again. This game just loves to waste your time, and a lot of the routes feel so non-canon and random, that they honestly ruin the original game to the point I completely stopped caring about anything anymore, everything felt pointless and meaningless. At some point, it felt like no matter what answers they could throw at me, I wouldn't care anymore, they ruined their own game. It really is quantity over quality, and you can only imagine the despair I felt when I opened my list of endings I achieved when It felt like I had spent FOREVER collecting them, only to find out I hadn't even got half of them. As much as I feel a sunk cost fallacy, and want to complete all endings, It is GENUINELY torture, and I could not recommend that experience to ANYONE. If you must play this game I only recommend playing the original route, and dropping the game as soon as you get bored, because nothing is gonna satisfy you, I promise. If anything, looking up the other routes online and only taking a look at the GOOD ones would probably be better than wasting your time playing this. For your own mental health, just don't bother..
The novelty of this game lies in the monumental amount of content. When you actually break down that content, much of it feels very derivative. There were a few notable routes that I really enjoyed, namely
Route 0, Second Scenario, Goodbye Eito, Retsnom, Slasher, and S.F.
. Outside of those limited examples, it felt like the game was reheated tropes from previous works from these devs. Even inside of the aforementioned routes, the game begins to feel very stale and repetitive after day 30 or so. The choices felt consequential, as did the endings. But everything between these moments was just a slog. When I finally completed my save file, I felt more like I had finished a long assignment than a game I enjoyed. If you're really interested in this game, or even just a particular route, I'd watch a playthrough or read a summary. This wasn't worth the amount of time I sank into it.
The Hundred Line -Last Defense Academy-.
The Hundred Line -Last Defense Academy- 100% это невероятный продукт, который точно заслуживает того, чтобы его купили и прошли. Love and Peace!!!!!!!!!!!!!
9/10, wouldve been 10/10 if eito were a woman
This game exceeded all my expectations of a Tactics RPG/Visual Novel. I love all the characters, the combat and the visuals as they are fantastic. The Tactical Part is very easy to learn and has alot of options for you to choose while not being that hardcore. I highly recommend this for anyone.
Before I moan about this game, it is good. I recommend it. I spent 120 hours (although honestly as much as maybe 20 were some form of AFK) 100%'ing it. It's probably my 2nd favorite Kodaka after Danganronpa 2. It's also an incredibly bizarrely designed game, from the ground up. Yeah spoilers or whatever I guess but they marketed the game this way, there are (basically) 100 endings. Except, there aren't really, but I'll get into that later. For now, I would like to address one of the ways they advertised and hyped this game up. You may have heard them say something along the lines of, "Every ending is canon," or perhaps, "There is no true ending." Let me clear. That is fundamentally false. I won't fully get into it because it's hard to without fundamentally spoiling everything about the game, but there is a very clear "good ending," and a very clear "true ending." The game itself all but treats them these ways. Furthermore, as I alluded to earlier, there aren't really 100 endings. Instead, it's more like 20 or so clusters of endings, wherein most of the endings in said cluster are hardly different from one another at all. Again, this is fine, but it's disingenuous to market the game having 100 endings so heavily. Like, I guess it's technically true, but ehhh.... You may also look at my playtime and go, "Wow, there's a lot of content here!" And you'd be right. The amount of varied content, narratively speaking, is staggering. For all its flaws, this game is a true achievement of the medium. It is unbelievably ambitious and does manage to make good on those ambitions, relatively speaking. However, the game is not 120 hours long. Again, maybe 20 or so were AFK, which, 100 is still pretty insane, right? Well, not really, because I can't even begin to estimate how much of that time was spent skipping through or outright replaying the same battles route to route. It's probably in the 15-20 hour range. It is an insane amount of "doing the same stuff over and over again." Surprisingly the narrative rarely repeats itself too much between routes, although some amount is to be expected, but jeez, clicking through the day cycles, and the battles, over and over and over again... at least 20-25% of the game. At least a day of my life, cumulatively, was wasted clicking "skip battle" and seeing the exact same textboxes for them literally hundreds of times. I dunno. It's a goofy game. There's been news of a DLC, which is extremely surprising to me. I have negative desire to play any more of this game, despite having an overall very positive opinion of it. If you like Kodaka, you'll like this.
A ridiculous experiment in storytelling with a strategy game attached. The Hundred Line (and the contained sequel) provides a thrilling overarching mystery for players to solve and draw their own conclusions from. The large time investment rewards you with hidden character depth and exploring what-ifs that range from humorous to nightmare-inducing. Also, this is a very convenient game to play streamed to my phone while babysitting.
