The drawings could be improved, but the story is very good. The game dynamics are also not that simple and therefore involve you more.
Good puzzles, lovely background art and likeable characters. A really fun globetrotting adventure. Looking forward to the sequel!
Bella avventura, mi ha sorpreso positivamente!
After finishing The Hand of Glory, I realized how much I loved it. The voice acting, characters, art style, and comedy all work beautifully. The mysterious story kept me hooked, and the puzzles struck a good balance of challenge, though I needed to look up a few solutions. This is a fun, intriguing point-and-click adventure, similar to Broken Sword but with a more cartoonish style. It also explores some unexpectedly serious themes. I’m eagerly anticipating the sequel.
Pretty good attempt to create something like Broken Sword. The script isn't always at its inspirations level, but the highly competent voice acting does a lot of the heavy lifting.
I'd give this game score of 4/10. Perhaps something was lost in translation (from Italian?), but I found the story to be disjointed, over-complicated and confusing - I had no idea what was going on for most of the game. I was hoping for something like a Broken Sword, but this doesn't come close. It's a shame as it looks like some effort has gone into the production.
First of all, I have to ask: what happened with the art direction? I get Lars was in a more cartoonish style because he's the one with more animations, but he really stands out when he's in a crowd of realistic looking characters. That aside, the game is quite good. Lars/Lazarus/Mr Bundy/"Don't make my name sound biblical" is a detective who's investigating a serial killer case, when he's swept into a much bigger case, which has magic intertwined with it. Alice is an intern who becomes interested in helping him to boost her career. Pretty good start for both of them, and they character development is actually rather realistic (specially after part 1's ending). The first part was the best for me; the story is more grounded and the puzzles make sense. The second part seems rushed at times, and some puzzles are nearing Deponia's "this makes no sense" style. Luckily, the majority of them are rather intuitive (as in, if you want to paint something, the bucket of paint will allow you to do so). I can see this was probably inspired by other magic+detective games, such as "Detective Grimoire" or "Broken Sword". The soundtrack was one of the best points for me. I specially like the main theme, sounds like something I've been humming since I was three or so, but I've never known what song is it. I really like it. I saw there was a second part, but it was announced for 2023, so.... No second part? i wishlisted, just in case.
Its alright!
Great story and puzzles!
