If you like turn-based RPGs. you will like this game!
I liked the game although it does have some flaws. First of all I liked that there were no random encounters. That would have made this game a lot more tedious for me. The story was alright but I would have liked more focus on the characters. The bosses were interesting for the most part although the optional bosses were a bit too hard (I am aware that probably was the point but I didn't want to grind to be able to fight an optional boss). The customization system wíth rings and such was nice and allowed you to choose the way you played the game more freely. Lastly, the first chapter got a bit too silly at times but overall I liked the game.
A simple yet fun game. A good soundtrack, with basic yet somehow strangely beautiful graphics. Gameplay can get a bit repetitive, but fun when played in small doses.
If you are wondering if you'll have fun playing this game then my answer is: "**** yes you will". I haven't finished the game yet. I stopped right before going to Bucket(i think, haven't got there yet) to write this review. So if there was something that this game does the best, that would the : "setting up a mood". And o boy is it good at it, I get hyped up every time. You can tell right from the beginning that this game is fantastic. One of the best villain introduction ever. Oh and let's not forget about the soundtracks which slap every time. The story so far is chill, funny and interesting and I love it. You'll just have to play it for yourself to see. Just buy the good damn game!
This game is an absolute gem. 10 hours of solid enjoyment if you do everything. Not a very long game, but a beautiful one with fantastic music, an adorable art style, and so much personality it almost hurts sometimes. Absolutely have to commend the soundtrack. Very final fantasy-esque combat but has a few of its own little twists to it that make the game unique and fun as hell. I only have a few criticisms, and they are very cherry-picked, but anyone who is buying this game should be aware of what I think are flaws here. First things first, this game is 5 bucks. 9 if you want the soundtrack. Easily worth 20. I appreciate how cheap this is but this game and developer deserve so much more money, dude. It feels like tipping your waiter a buck for a 100-dollar, 10-course meal. Secondly, the story is a bit generic but with the amount of personality it has and the fun I had with it, I didn't mind that at all. I found it very personally engaging, and if you beat all the secret bosses you make Flint feel like an orbital bombardment with legs, which makes the ending much cooler. (and easier.) Some of the models are super simple, but it meshes with the art style so well that it isn't jarring at all. There's a bit of a plateau at the end prior to the final confrontation when all of the secret bosses are a little too hard to fight and all the normal enemies are way too easy and give no XP. Pro tip: go southeast to the red island with the cave in it and grind the lizards. 2-3 runs of the caves should buff your characters a solid 10 levels. Proceed to beat the teeth out of every enemy in the game. Just buy the game. It's 5 dollars. Buy this game and play it. No excuses. You will enjoy it. If the dev sees this, just know I love you and I cherish this work of yours. Total score is an easy 10/10. Very personally engaging, sweet little gem here. Love it to death. Plus, new game +.
I didn't know what to think about this game before playing but am really enjoying it. The beginning is a bit slow, but once the first hour is completed it's faster-paced. Really enjoyable for the humor, difficulty, combat, music. Great game.
Really entertaining game, at times slow but addictive with exceptionally specific graphics - on the positive way.
TLDR: I haven't written a review or 100%ed a game in years. Buy The Greater Good. Play The Greater Good. Played through family sharing (nobody knows how we got this game but it wasn't me) so I bought it again (with soundtrack) so I could give this review. This game was such a phenomenal find. I've been bouncing back and forth between so many games recently since nothing would keep my interest (even if I was enjoying them otherwise.) Saw this, and the simpler but still beautiful graphics I saw on the store page reminded me of countless indie/flash rpgs I played ages ago and I knew I had to try it. I was not disappointed. Locales, Enemies, chests and objects, weapons... They were all new, but felt so familiar. (THE NOSTALGIA I GOT FROM THIS MY GOD) Combat and progression felt balanced and fair, but if I had played this as a kid it would for sure have been on the harder side compared to most I played. (THIS IS A GOOD THING) The story had me hooked immediately. It's a classic hero's journey with so much heart, and for as small as the game is, the world, Flint and crew, and the supporting cast were vibrant and enjoyable. Superbosses were fun, the humor was great and never felt out of place imo, and the ending legit made me smile bigger and more genuinely than I have with any other game in recent memory. On top of all that though... THE MUSIC? The music was the cherry on top of the whole experience. Phenomenal vibes non stop that always fit the locale or scene or fight perfectly.
I am 7 hours into the game and just got to the ranch. Thus far I am greatly enjoying this game! The art style is fantastic, the music is sensational, and it is EXACTLY what I have been looking for in a very traditional RPG
great soundtrack, funny and interesting plot, gameplay is basically final fantasy, solid game length that doesn't overstay it's welcome. not particularly difficult.
