An action-rhythm-puzzle-platform game that will test your skills and your patience as the game’s developer talks you through each screen. However, there may be more to this simple world of screens than what meets the eye, and this so-called developer may have motives of his own.
«The God Paradox»
The God Paradox – хардкорный платформер.
Ive been trying this game for some time and always quiting levels and starting over again. I have to be honest, I dont really like it. Not that its a bad game overall - It has great music, a cool story, and super cool "feeling" to it. But the gameplay... it feels rather unfair... I think its not the difficulty itself that makes it unfair, but the way traps and bullets work. They shoot over and over again in patterns, and they dont stop when you die. The level loops endlessly and dying does not reset it. For me those "patterns" are just way too hard to decrypt, most of the times I just sit there for 2minutes trying to figure out how to clear the level so that you perfectly mix with the pattern. But thats just not possible. there are so many bullets splitting there and flying there its just too much going on. When I try to make a plan on how to jump it never works no matter how hard I think of it. The music does not help either, it rather ♥♥♥♥♥ up my jumping timing. So 90% of the levels I just rush in over and over again untill im lucky to slide throught the objects and finish the level. I dont feel satisfied at all. There is no "i just solved that lvl" feeling. I really can not not recommand it, because it has so much power in story and creativity. .... But i cant, it feels unplayable to me, and does not do what it is supposed to do.
This is not a bad game, but in my opinion it should have been refined more, especially in gameplay. I got it in a 1 dollar bundle, and for that it's surely worth the value. What I am asking myself is whether it's worth the time. The answer for any player reading this that has not yet played Super Meat Boy, is definitely No. Their time is better spent there. For those that are (like me) looking for more Super Meat boy, my answer remains No, and the gameplay critics below explain why. For those looking for a strange, challenging platformer, it's a yes. The game has some hints of originality, a decent music, a hipster story telling that's not too annoying... However, it looks and feels like a prototype. Controls are simple triggers: jump can't be a small or a big jump, but just a jump. There is no dash button, and sticking on walls feels like you have been glued to them (falling naturally is very slow). That's alright if there's no hurry, but it feels unfair when you have to perform quick tasks. Gameplay-wise, the developers made the decision of not having what the game defines Friction in every level. That means that if you are on a sliding surface, the surface will simply slide under you and you will fall on the spikes beneath it. Again, it's not a bad idea by itself, but it does not feel natural to the player. One aspect that I appreciated is that levels don't reset when you die, making it impossible to finish by muscle memory only. It forced me to focus on all obstacles. I also gladly appreciated the posssibility to disable distracting animations from the menu. However, overall levels ended up annoying me more than they gave me satisfaction for finishing them. I wish there were a middle thumb, but the honest answer to the question "Do you recommend this game?" is No.
hell of a platformer! yes, i like the way the whole world is designed by minimal means - world that is ruled by its own rules, that follows the music rhythm, but its a definitely hardcore game - and "so-called developer" tells the truth, saying it will test your patience :)
手残福音,玩了这款游戏以后,妈妈再也不用担心我的反应力和手速输给幼儿园的小盆宇了
I’ve never been huge on the trend of games so hard that make you miss the days when games were just Battletoads-hard. The God Paradox is an übber-difficult-meta-rhythm-platformer that, thanks to ingenious level design and excellent soundtrack, keeps the player engaged even though they’ll die THOUSANDS of times on the way to that red screen. Player who, like me, suck at ultra-hard platformers be warned: you’ll cry blood tears. Even though I was able to complete the game, I had serious doubts that would ever be a possibility. That makes sense story-wise, and the fact I was still able to make it to the end (unlike most of its other übber-difficult relatives) is further proof of the game’s great level design, but may drive less stubborn players to just give up at the game’s latter half. The rhythm elements are a bit underused and levels don’t restart when you die: although that’s preferable to losing sync with the music, it makes memorization harder, completing some levels a matter of basically jumping around hoping you don’t die and, consequently, more relieving than rewarding. I’ve also experienced a few minor bugs that made my character behave strangely sometimes (moving along walls or floating around), but dying or restarting the level would fix that. And, frankly, dying is what happens the most in this game, so that’s no big deal. That said, I just can’t avoid loving it. From the weird characters to its deceptively minimalist style, it’s worth every painful second and suicidal thought. Also, the game’s so stylish that it never makes you want to punch your computer or the designer - not even in the timed levels, which are nothing but sadistic. No, you will only want to punch yourself. Basically, an exercise in humility in game form. Finally: take very seriously the warning about the epilepsy-inducing effects. They really can fry your brain, as if the game couldn’t do that simply by making you replay the same level 200+ times. The effects can be turned off, and the game may even get more playable by that, but they’re so cool you probably won’t want to. (Edit: it took me about 5 hours to complete the game and the extra levels. Don't know why Steam registered only 5 minutes, probably because I played it offline)
3/10 too much story
对于没有耐心和手残来说,这是一个非常难的游戏。而且游戏每一次死亡都伴随着视觉污染,建议大家要保护视力,不要接触这个游戏。 眼保健操,开始/
