About

Scavenge and fight for your next day alive under the shadow of gargantuan war machines. Enemies in the game can literally tower over the battlefield. To put it another way:

The battlefield is unpredictable thanks to The Forever Winter’s Dynamic Encounter system: enemies have their own goals and agendas, operating in coordinated groups, undertaking full-scale battles — and they’ll intelligently react to your actions. The battlefield you leave won’t be the same one you return to.
Use your wits, stealth, and skilled gunplay to make it out alive. Choose your path in the shadow of the two great superpowers, loot the dead, and make it out alive. While the warring factions may ignore you at first, the more disruptive you become to their goals, the more they'll seek to remove you from the equation.
Ecological collapse compounded by runaway technological advancement brought us here: a dystopian world choked by 40 years of industrial-scale violence between two military superpowers, AI automata, cybernetically enhanced soldiers, human-machine hybrids, and relentless automated warfare. There's two sides to this war, and you're not on either.

Reviews
No other game captures the terror of simply existing on a battlefield like The Forever Winter. In The Forever Winter, you are merely a scavenger, scuttling the battlefield in the shadows and scraping together any bits of loot you find along the way. Horrifying war machines lay waste to the landscape, as well as any souls unfortunate enough to get too close. Every decision you make matters, and becoming too brazen can have dire consequences. The scenery, world-building, and enemy design all reinforce the feeling that you are insignificant in a war that couldn't care less whether you live or die. With that being said, this is not a completely polished AAA game with flawless mechanics. This game is currently in Early Access, with a lot of room to grow and refine the current systems... There are moments where you're forced into becoming a one-person army rather than lurking in the shadows, mowing down waves of enemies just to progress. While these sections can be fun, they can sometimes clash with the game's central identity of making you feel like you're not "that guy." Sometimes you'll die to something that feels completely unfair. Enemy AI can be janky and predictable at times, and performance varies noticeably from map to map, with some areas running far worse than others. However, despite its rough edges, no other game has immersed me in a world quite like The Forever Winter. I keep coming back because no other extraction shooter has this kind of atmosphere. When this game hits... it hits HARD. It is also worth noting that, while still not perfect, the developers have made notable strides in improving the basics. The game has seen significant growth and improvement in even just the past few months, particularly with gunplay and enemy AI. If they continue refining the systems while staying true to the scavenger fantasy, I genuinely believe The Forever Winter could become something special. So what's the verdict? If you're looking for a completely polished game, I would wait. If you're willing to embrace an ambitious looter shooter with unmatched atmosphere and world-building, as well as all the quirks that come with it currently being an Early Access title, I wholeheartedly recommend The Forever Winter.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,515 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

just reinstalled and uninstalled, this game is a major letdown. It has performance issues, frame rate drops, all the usual jank of an early access indie title. What makes this game different is it hasn't moved in the right direction in a considerable amount of time. Wonky AI, janky movement, i can go on and on. The atmosphere and world is really cool, the concept is awesome, but man does actually playing it just not satisfy. Skip it.

Good game, nice atmosphere, neat art and character style, lots of content. Only complaint are weird glitches like enemies constantly shoot through walls, I mean constantly. aiming in the game is strange too like where you are shooting is not where the sights are aimed its always higher, mechanics if you aim while doing a running far jump, your character will stop moving in motion throughout the jump and just drop, never seen that in a game. Also had some random X texture pop up getting bigger and bigger till I died. Lots of bugs and strange mechanics but lots of potential. Bought some of the character DLCs hopefully this game doesn't get abandoned.

fix the game please its so fun please i wantto habe fun and not be deppressed at insane bugs that cause me great dismay every 10 seconds every other run it crashes or kicks me because of some network error not on my side like brooo please fix this game please also the preformance is hot garbage please optimize your game its so BAD like BAD BAD so BAD
Game feels very repetitive after a short while, no diversity in gameplay, at times it feels to easy and others to hard, and a whole company of infantry will fire at you and hunt you down even if your a single scavenger. Would be way better as a open world game imo
