Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
About
The Executive is a sandbox business simulation game that lets you rewrite the history of Hollywood from the 1970s to today. As the founder of a scrappy production company, you’ll produce the movies you’ve always dreamed of, manage ambitious franchises, and build a studio that rivals the industry’s greatest. Navigate the challenges of the movie business, outmaneuver your competition, and decide whether to chase critical acclaim or box office domination.
Bring your cinematic visions to life. Choose themes, genres, and target ratings to shape your creations. Dive deep into screenplay development, cast the hottest stars (or discover hidden talent), and allocate your budget wisely to make each film shine. Every decision impacts your movie’s critical acclaim and box office potential, so craft your masterpieces with care.
Turn your biggest hits into long-lasting franchises! Create sequels, prequels, reboots, and even spinoffs to capitalize on audience demand. But beware: too many installments can lead to franchise fatigue. Strike the perfect balance to keep your fans invested without burning them out.
Your movie’s journey doesn’t end at the final cut. Decide how to distribute your creation: self-publish, partner with a distributor. Each route comes with unique risks and rewards. Timing is everything—analyze the market, outmaneuver the competition, and secure the perfect release date for your blockbuster.
Don’t let your past successes collect dust. Manage your studio’s library and maximize ancillary revenue with strategic home entertainment deals. Partner with distributors who are the best fit for your catalog, and invest in add-ons to boost sales. Your back catalog is a goldmine—make it work for you.
Making movies isn’t all glamour and glory. Sometimes, production doesn’t go as planned, and you’ll have to face the unexpected. From budget overruns to on-set accidents, adapt to unforeseen challenges and turn setbacks into opportunities.
Turn your small studio into a Hollywood powerhouse. Use your profits to upgrade your offices, hire and train top-tier talent, and research cutting-edge technologies to stay ahead of the curve. Attract A-list actors, expand your capabilities, and solidify your reputation as a major player in the industry.
In The Executive, the road to success is yours to decide. Will you become a champion of the art world, winning critical acclaim and prestigious awards? Or will you build a blockbuster machine, raking in billions at the box office? The choice is yours in this ultimate Hollywood simulation.

it may be very similar to game dev tycoon, but thats okay because i love GDT and I love movies so its a perfect game for me. 100%'d but wouldnt mind playing more!

Good game
Love at first sight! Bought the game today and in my first run that took 5 hours I didn't give any breaks. I was amazed by the experience this game offered that is similar to Game Dev Tycoon, the spiritual ancestor, yet so innovative. The development team came up with very smart solutions to this genre's problems. Tycoon's being one of my favorite genre's of all time, I couldn't manage to find a non-repetetive, with an appealing theme, and not copycatting the other ones type of game after GDT. This is by-far the best tycoon game released in the last 10+ years. I can't describe how excited I am to find my next obsession. Have fun with all the easter eggs and references, shout out to all geeks there! Give this game a chance and I promise you'll fall in love with it as well. Enjoy.
Great game! Very much in the style of Game Dev Tycoon but just a bit more complex. The only thing that bugs me is that I can't for the life of me figure out how to make a spin-off. On the other side I am able to do infinite prequels even though the game's tool tip says you can only do one per franchise :P
Overall the game gets a thumbs up from me, there a few QoL things I hope they change -Give more information about your franchises and films in your film library -Add more starting location options -More Themes -More Genres Gameplay itself is about scaling and management. The most successful runs have been when I was able to focus franchises across genres as I produced film gluts on rotation. Bigger films aren't always better, the feats don't need to be maxed out on smaller films, you are just going to be increasing cost.
Made a good movie 10/10
