Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
About
The Executive is a sandbox business simulation game that lets you rewrite the history of Hollywood from the 1970s to today. As the founder of a scrappy production company, you’ll produce the movies you’ve always dreamed of, manage ambitious franchises, and build a studio that rivals the industry’s greatest. Navigate the challenges of the movie business, outmaneuver your competition, and decide whether to chase critical acclaim or box office domination.
Bring your cinematic visions to life. Choose themes, genres, and target ratings to shape your creations. Dive deep into screenplay development, cast the hottest stars (or discover hidden talent), and allocate your budget wisely to make each film shine. Every decision impacts your movie’s critical acclaim and box office potential, so craft your masterpieces with care.
Turn your biggest hits into long-lasting franchises! Create sequels, prequels, reboots, and even spinoffs to capitalize on audience demand. But beware: too many installments can lead to franchise fatigue. Strike the perfect balance to keep your fans invested without burning them out.
Your movie’s journey doesn’t end at the final cut. Decide how to distribute your creation: self-publish, partner with a distributor. Each route comes with unique risks and rewards. Timing is everything—analyze the market, outmaneuver the competition, and secure the perfect release date for your blockbuster.
Don’t let your past successes collect dust. Manage your studio’s library and maximize ancillary revenue with strategic home entertainment deals. Partner with distributors who are the best fit for your catalog, and invest in add-ons to boost sales. Your back catalog is a goldmine—make it work for you.
Making movies isn’t all glamour and glory. Sometimes, production doesn’t go as planned, and you’ll have to face the unexpected. From budget overruns to on-set accidents, adapt to unforeseen challenges and turn setbacks into opportunities.
Turn your small studio into a Hollywood powerhouse. Use your profits to upgrade your offices, hire and train top-tier talent, and research cutting-edge technologies to stay ahead of the curve. Attract A-list actors, expand your capabilities, and solidify your reputation as a major player in the industry.
In The Executive, the road to success is yours to decide. Will you become a champion of the art world, winning critical acclaim and prestigious awards? Or will you build a blockbuster machine, raking in billions at the box office? The choice is yours in this ultimate Hollywood simulation.

An amazing ride from 1970 to 2020! The game offers a deep dive into the role of a movie studio CEO and executive producer, where you have to explore all the different aspects of movie making. There are multiple decisions and a huge tech tree, which I like (features, staff development etc). What is missing, in my view, are further selections and options in the "ancilliaries", where you market your movies as home entertainment. Unfortunately there are no streaming companies in later years and the revenue calculation seems a mystery to me. However, it is a small game studio, keep going and I hope for further updates and maybe a "Streaming Executive" where I can manage my own home entertainment company?
It's fun, I would love to see where the game goes from here, it's playable, but easy, and I find the premium features more annoying than the training to be honest. As well as probably a how-to guide to introduce one to how and what conditiosn trigger them. It is actually relatively easy initially, of course, and then it gets harder, and like really, this could go to much bigger in terms of that, budget, size but also cast of characters and so on. It's bare bones but passable, and I finished it very quick to the end.
Super addictive, satisfying game loop. Probably won't play for a bit after my 16hr straight, first day marathon playthrough but I know I'll pick it up sometime again in the future. Mods for real names of everything are a must for me. Recommended additions: -Being able to sort all the menus by the different categories would be nice and is expected in a game like this. -A trophy room where I can see all my awards. It could also give me a reason to click on the office. Its always there but not really interactive. -Interviews with media outlets before and/or after a movie. -Cutscenes from the red carpet for blockbuster premieres, to make it a big deals. -Being able to sell merch from big franchises/cult classics. I could go on forever, it's a fun game but could be a much more well rounded experience with some more additions and polish.
