The Empress Quest : Full Moons Saga

Looks like I'm the first one to leave a review on here, and I'm delighted to say that Empress Quest is the most charming and heartwarming game I've played this year along with Flake The Legend of Snowblind :) I played the demo before and loved it, but once we find our way "down the mouse hole" the game really gets started. We play as a scottie dog and must find our way through a series of gates based on the four seasons in our quest to find the mysterious Moon Mother. The watercolor backgrounds make a refreshing change from the typical pixel style, and there's so many fun and quirky creatures to interact with. The puzzle difficulty is also set just right, the only puzzle I got stuck on involved some musical bats...Overall it's really a pleasure to play and definitely earns a place as one of my "games of the year"!

Empress Quest: Full Moons Saga is a delightful, family friendly point-and-click adventure. You travel as an adorable Scottish Terrier named Kobi as he searches for his missing pig toy. It is a fanciful journey through a series of water-color landscapes with interesting creatures. Except for one musical pattern matching exercise, puzzles consist of fetch errands and using inventory items to open a series of gates. Your goal is to find the Moon Goddess and make your way home. The cursor changes to examine, interact, or speak with an object or character. Inventory is stored in a backpack which can be opened at any time. Objects are used or combined by dragging and dropping. The game provides multiple save slots and you must save before exiting. To resume a game, you simply load the proper save file. Steam achievements are not supported. It is a slow-paced, sweet game that is warm and fuzzy in every regard. The music is charming and well-placed sound effects add to the magic of the environment. There is no voice acting or narration. Prepare to do a lot of traversing and “trying this and trying that” with every item in inventory. But that is all part of the fun. You can click to reveal hot spots in each scene, and you should interact with every one of them. Other than writing the music, one person developed this entire game. The credits will make you smile because he wore every hat possible! To me, it is a beautiful effort by someone who has creativity, passion, and a love of dogs. I recommend Empress Quest to patient players who want to move thoughtfully through a lovely environment with an unlikely hero. A very marginal recommend. At its core, this is a very simple point and click adventure. The main selling points are the dog, the cozy atmosphere, and the relaxing story. It's immediately recognizable that the bulk of the work has gone into the art and assets that make up the game. Where it falls apart is in a number of bugs and QOL issues. I've tried to find a better channel to report these, but currently they are: - I could only interact with the giant's hair after reloading my saved game - The save and load buttons both highlight upon hovering over one or the other - The requirements for one of the instruments do not correctly take into account items already given - Clicking an entrance or exit cannot be canceled - Cycling interactions with objects with right click isn't immediately intuitive After 2.5 hours, I finished this game and was by no means rushing. The final section of the game resolves very quickly and I was surprised by how abruptly the credits showed. I did enjoy the pictures showing the inspiration for the game, however. $28 NZD is a steep ask, and I think only worth it if you're the type of person to appreciate a picture book converted into a game with a wee bit of jank thrown in. However, this is an indie game where I can tell a lot of thought and effort has gone into it, and I just wouldn't have the heart to outright not recommend it.

A short and sweet hand draw/animated point and click game. got it as a Christmas gift to myself.love the way it sounds when kobi walks on the hard wood floor and you hear clickity clack of her paws on the floor ,sounds just like it when my westie did it.I like how you can see all the work that went into the art, and all the fun animations. great game glad I'm got to play it.

This was a supercute adventure game, which I finished in 3 hours. It took three sessions to do so. The puzzles reminded me a little bit of "Legend of Kyrandia". I recommend this adventure game for every dog-lover out there who wants to take a trip back to their childhood. The music in the game is really catchy! I do hope that there will be a sequel with Kobi and Empress. One thing I didn't like was the bat puzzle within the cave. That one needs a little bit more fine-tuning. Nonetheless this was an entertaining game and I hope that it finds an appropriate audience.

This game is simply adorable. It combines a fun story with puzzles and thought out world building. Everyone you meet along your journey is important and has their own thing going on. This game teaches is wonderful from the art to the music, playing as a Scottish terrier is the cherry on top.
