7/10 it was an okaay game. pretty sure detroit become human, heavy rain etc have more depths. the horror is not really scary, it has many jumpscares tho. but it's interesting because the title of the game is my hometown in Indonesia. now im gonna try the sequels too.
Those expecting a spiritual successor to 'Until Dawn' will be disappointed. Taken on its own, Man of Medan has a creepy atmosphere and likeable-enough characters to warrant a playthrough.
Actually a great first installment in the series. In total transparency, I did play them out of order: Little Hope, Man of Medan, House of Ashes, Devil Within Me. Doesn't really matter because they all tell a different yet terrifying story unless you are an extra nerd that needs to find the easter eggs about the other stories (no shame, but maybe touch grass :) ) The zombies were terrifying, the QTEs were intense, and the choices were hard when you knew they mattered for survival. I have also completed this game in online multiplayer and if I am being so honest it is again a great testament to how story horror can be enjoyed with friends. Just like Little Hope, it is chaos with both you and your friends controlling different characters and trying to work together to keep all of them alive while also trying to manage your own characters survival. I can definitely tell these online multiplayer modes seemed to not take into account being in voice chat with each other making it a little disorienting to hear your duo screaming at something that you don't see/know about but I think it adds a layer of fear/dread that makes the experience better. Same visual bugs still exist throughout this story but honestly didn't break the game for me.

short and sweet
Man of Medan was a really fun time. This is the second game I've played in The Dark Pictures Anthology, and I have to say... I actually enjoyed this story more than House of Ashes. Don't get me wrong—both games are really good—but Man of Medan was just more my style. The story gave me major Ghost Ship vibes, and if you've ever seen that movie, you'll probably understand exactly why I was hooked. Creepy abandoned ship? Strange paranormal events? A mystery that slowly unravels as you explore? Sign me up. Like the other Supermassive Games titles, Man of Medan focuses heavily on player choice. Every decision you make has consequences, and the story changes depending on who lives, who dies, and the choices you make along the way. It's one of my favorite mechanics because it makes every decision feel important, even if you're completely panicking while trying to make it. I wouldn't put the story on the same level as Until Dawn. For me, Until Dawn is still the gold standard when it comes to these cinematic choice-based horror games. But that doesn't take anything away from Man of Medan. The story kept me invested the whole way through, and I genuinely enjoyed seeing all of the twists and trying to figure out what was really going on. The atmosphere was solid, the characters were interesting, and just like the other games in the series, I found myself constantly debating every decision before committing to it... usually while my chat was yelling at me that I was making the wrong choice. And here's the part I'm most proud of... I only got one person killed this time! Considering my first experience with these games (Until Dawn) ended with me accidentally wiping out almost everybody, I'd say that's some serious progress. Apparently, I'm slowly getting better at keeping people alive. Overall, I had a great time with Man of Medan. If you enjoy story-driven horror games where your choices actually matter, this is absolutely worth playing. It may not quite reach the heights of Until Dawn, but it's still a very entertaining adventure with a setting that horror fans—especially anyone who loves haunted ship stories—will have a blast exploring.
