Whether you're looking for a trip down memory lane or just a place to lose a few hours in the neon glow of a claw machine, The Coin Game is a weirdly wonderful masterpiece. Having recently hit its 1.0 release in early 2026, this game has evolved from a niche simulator into a full-blown open-world island adventure that captures the "sticky floor" nostalgia of a real-world arcade better than anything else on the market. This isn't just a collection of mini-games; it’s a living, breathing (well, robot-breathing) world. You aren't just clicking on a menu to play a game—you’re hopping on your mountain bike, riding over to Larry’s Arcade, and physically walking up to machines that look, sound, and feel like the real thing. Physics That Feel Right: Whether it's the weight of the coins in the pushers or the way a prize tumbles in the claw machine, the physics are remarkably accurate. Survival or Celebration: I spent most of my time in Survival Mode, where you have to manage your cash, hunger, and energy by doing odd jobs like delivering newspapers just to fund your arcade addiction. If that’s too much pressure, Birthday Mode (thanks, Uncle Phil!) gives you infinite money to just live your best life. The "Janky" Charm: The world is populated by quirky robots and has a slightly "off" aesthetic that gives it a unique, indie personality. It’s intentional, it’s funny, and it makes the island feel like a surreal dream. I want to send a massive thank you to the developer, Kevin (devotid), for providing me with the opportunity to do this first impressions review. It is incredibly inspiring to see what a solo developer can achieve over years of dedicated work. The passion for arcade culture is evident in every flashing light and ticket eater. Truly one of the greats. Played this since it was a little baby game, it's grown to be engaging and supremely fun, and there is no other game I've found that will provide such a good time, every time.

This game might look rough at first glance, but it is phenomenally well made. Anyone who loves ticket games in real arcades will recognize immediately how much detail has gone into this game. The dev has been working on it for years and still going, improving it regularly. The main draw is the incredible attention to detail in making the machines. If you like ticket games, you will love this game. It's got all the most well known ticket games as well as many obscure ones that aren't seen in arcades as often anymore.
