A very poor and disastrous RPG with very amateurish writing and incoherent plot. Terrible and repetitive combat. Useless crafting system. Aside from the graphics, there's nothing good about this game?? There was no underlying theme. Characters in your party have neither a personality nor motivation. The writing is a complete joke. Just look at the name of the characters...... A vampire named General Bastardo?? The dialogues revolve around very bad dad jokes, lazy conversations, and uninspired self-referential humour. Grammatical errors were flooding the game. Hell, even the names are spelt differently at times. It's like a horrible fan-fiction written by a 12 year old kid. Game mechanics are weird as heck. Normal attacks are more powerful than magic and techniques. Elemental weaknesses and spells doesn't seem to have an impact, the scaling of the attacks were worse. Healing abilities are a joke because potions heal more. The game is also overly reliant on skills that throw status conditions to disable enemies, such as paralysing and dooming them. Mid and late game enemies have way too much health and attack damage. Characters joining the party can't seem to catch up on the leveling, items, and skills. In theory, enemies could be avoided even though they were on the map. But in practice, enemies flood the necessary travel paths and made battles compulsory. The fights were constant and soon became annoying. Boss fights hold no challenge. No special mechanics to figure out at all. Bosses are just normal enemies with higher stats. Crafting feature has no use to the game, except for the beginning. Every weapon that can be crafted can also be bought with money that is easy to obtain. Crafting doesn't even let you better the stats of weapons. Potion crafting is pretty damn useless since they can be looted so abundantly. The game features 10 different health and 10 different mana potions. They differ minimally in cost and effectiveness. This created a lot of unnecessary clutter that could have been reduced to about 4 different types each. Puzzles are buggy as well, where resetting a puzzle can cause you to get stuck and forces you to reset the game. Now on to the redeeming factor - the artwork. Excellent character designs and game interface. Facial expressions are on point and complements the conversations. Enemy designs are as well thought out and drawn. The artwork and promotional materials are exceptional and would mislead one into believing that The Clans is a quality game. However, it's most certainly not one.

This is just like being dropped in the middle of someone's fan fiction. You see not so credible banters between anime sisters with names like Sakura, Catz, Xenonight and they argue about being submissive and forcing each other to be each other's master. The story is really hard to follow, it is all disjointed. The camera is zoomed all the way off and the walk speed is slow in large areas. Combat selection can only be operated with the mouse which is insanely clunky. Combat screen is first person and looks a bit more polished than some other RPGMaker games but the animations are slow and sometimes even a little dizzying in how they fly about the screen. Visual novel type dialogue sections also added a tiny bit of polish with decent art but the characters lack any credibility, the dialogue is just really poor. Girls declaring they have demon horns and that is why they wear cat hears to hide the fact that they are vampires (wtf). Before I understood what was happening to me I was now in charge of a village and I presumably was expected to do quests to make the village better. Which is a pretty drastic change from being stuck in a subway that is equipped with labs and medical facility. Wilderness areas were just a bunch of grass corridors with baddies and chests sprinkled in an almost symetric pattern. Not impressed. Removed for declutter.
