Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

There is a crash due to a memory leak when you are in the Yeti cave. This causes the game to close and you can't continue. Too bad because it was a fun game up until this point.
The second part was again a lovely experience. The gameplay feels just as charming, and the characters are still absolutely adorable — it’s hard not to enjoy spending time with them. I did run into the same issue as before: sometimes I skipped through conversations and then realized I had missed important information about what I was supposed to do next. That meant going back through the dialogues again to figure it out. A clearer quest overview would definitely make things smoother for players like me who tend to click a bit too fast. I’m playing in normal mode because for me it’s a relaxing game. Even there, I had to think a bit more on two occasions — but in a good way. It added a small challenge without ever becoming frustrating or taking away from the fun. Overall, it keeps the same cosy, humorous atmosphere and remains an enjoyable adventure.

I've loved all of the games in this series and I wish I could find other games that are like it. I think it's spoiled me for future point and click adventures. This was such utter fun to play.
It makes me sad to give this a negative review, but the game crashes at a certain point in the story, not allowing me to progress. I tried several workaround methods, and on Windows 11, it still crashes every time. Edit: Apparently disabling the Steam overlay avoids crashing, however I can't recommend a game that crashes, regardless of how much I enjoy it.
So there I was, freezing my pixels off in the northern lands for the umpteenth time, watching Nate Bonnett and his insufferably rhyming buddy Critter walk across the same three screens I’d already visited a hundred times before, and I thought: you know what? This is actually a better game than the first The Book of Unwritten Tales. Shocking, I know. The original was so busy trying to be an epic fantasy saga that it scattered itself across a gorgeous map you barely got to explore, whereas The Critter Chronicles—a prequel-slash-spin-off made mostly from recycled assets—has the decency to admit it’s a small, cozy, slightly janky adventure about two idiots and their oddly compelling friendship. Yes, the whole thing takes place on a boat, in the Archmage’s house, and on that one snowy patch of land you’ll grow to hate. Yes, the animations are about as fluid as frozen molasses. Yes, there’s a bug in chapter two so annoying that finding a workaround felt like solving a moon logic puzzle the developers abandoned—and no, they’re not going to patch it, because why would they? And oh, Critter’s rhymes: cute for the first three minutes, then it grows old, meaning you’ll want to mute him by the fifth long-winded verse. The ending’s a mess too, connecting poorly to the main game, and that bizarre snowball fight at the finale? Utterly useless, unnatural, weird—like someone thought “we need something upbeat” and the only thing left was frozen precipitation. But here’s the thing: the puzzles are smarter, the storytelling tighter, and Nate and Critter finally get the character development the first game only sketched. There are even a few genuinely funny nods to old-school point-and-click fans, the kind that make you say “nice.” So yeah, it’s flawed, it’s tiny, it’s glitchy, and that rhyming menace will test your patience—but it’s focused, honest, and way less pretentious than its predecessor. And for a cheap, asset-flipped prequel? That’s mildly positive in my book.
Ein weiterer erfolgreicher Teil der The Book of Unwritten Tales-Saga!
Really funny moments. Recommend
I really enjoyed this game. I bought all 3 as a bundle and played one after the other, The story is good, with some heartfelt moments, it has some challenging puzzles to workout and you can change the difficulty as well. If you like point and click games like I do you will enjoy this game.
