The Book of Desires

This is definitely a mixed review. The game has some translation errors. One of the puzzles has to be skipped (the stone pieces to solve it just disappear). It seems to not be uncommon according to a discussion post. There are no achievements, so maybe that doesn't really matter, and you can continue w the rest of the game no problem. There's no fast travel. It's an ok time waster, and the game is less than $1.50 on sale. So if you like this genre, it's not a bad value.

This game is a fairly subpar point and click adventure and an even worse hidden object puzzle game. Part of this is probably due to translation issues ( English doesn't appear to be the first language of the writer), but this doesn't excuse the bad story and uninteresting puzzles. If you are looking for a game in this Genre you are much better served playing something like The Room.

为童年补票。小时候玩的第一部寻物解谜游戏。算是补票这次通关了应该差不多三四遍了。现在看来游戏雀食有很多不成熟的设计，比如虽然叫寻物解谜游戏，但寻物占据了大量流程也会让人很烦躁，以及谜题有些重复，虽然是不同的谜题，但类型都大同小异。记得小时候有好几个谜题过不去，结果现在还是过不去，好在游戏提示的使用卡的不死。

Played this years ago and was going through my owned games and decided to replay it. Plot summary (like it matters) - child given an opportunity making a wish, makes a nice one, and ends up in an adventure. Might have had one bug with stones disappearing in a mini-game and not being able to complete it and ended up skipping it. Some of the hidden object parts were actually rather clever - but there were occasional non-standard names. On the whole an OK HOG.

It is extremely short, has many bugs and the story is boring.

I found the story to be rather lacking, the art a bit murky (at times it was hard to distingush the items that needed to be found) and I had some bugs here and there (the pillars puzzle i had to skip completely because of it). I would have liked a voiceover for the naration and perhaps even the dialogues but that's just a personal preference. The game is not the worst but I think there could have been more depth to the character, more twists, even at the end when you have to make a choice, it would have been nice to have a hint somehwere about the choice. It felt like the story itself had been written by a child but I've played quite a few of these games over the years so maybe this is why I have high expectations.

Good puzzles, Good art, bad resolution, bad writing.

Das Spiel hat eine sehr gute Atmosphäre, gute Wimmelbildszenen und eine gute Hintergrundgeschichte. Andere Reviewer haben Bugs erwähnt, die ich bei meinem Durchspielen nicht hatte. Allerdings muss ich zugeben, dass die Rätsel am Anfang etwas schwierig sind. Zur Not tut´s dann aber der Skip-Button. Ich hatte Spaß an dem kurzen Spielchen, also kann ich es weiterempfehlen. :)

This is a pretty cool hidden object game with additional puzzles. The story is interesting, the gameplay varied and fun, you can skip puzzles if they are too hard or you are stuck. I completed the game in little less than 2 hours

Trotz, das ein Rätsel ein buk hat und nicht zu lösen war, kann ich es gutem Gewissen empfehlen. Die Rätsel sind teils sehr schwer und es gibt auch leicht zu lösende Rätsel, also für jedem was dabei. Auch die HO sind teilweise schwer zu erkennen, aber lösbar.(Mann kann sich ja Hilfe holen.) Die Grafik und Musik ist ansprechend und zu der jeweiligen Situation angepasst. An manchen Stellen hätte man noch mehr aus dem Spiel machen können. 7/10
