This game is realy good, I liked the puzzles you have to face, is not an easy game to beat but is realy good when you progress. I liked the beautiful and different graphics and the fact that you can control differents robots (SynB). I recommend this game for you who like good challenges.
Promettente!!!
I recommend this game for those who want to challenge themselves and finde their way through the game's puzzles by themselves, the game depends on observation and knowing what are you going to do (knowing your objective) else you'll be running around your self in circles and you'll not be abl to proceed in the game. but seriously I like this game, i've played it and quite enjoyed it,If you are looking for a game that requires focusing and thinking while enjoying pick this game up you'll like it :') .
I did my first play of the The Body Changer tonight I played the beta of Effing Dead quite some time back and there is quite a difference in the complexity of the game play. Having to change bodies at the right time to solve the various obsticles adds a whole new element of difficulty making the game very challenging. Pretty horrible watching from a distance as one of your bodies gets mauled by a couple of zombies. But the auto save feature once you make it to a certain point means you don't have to replay to much of the same thing over. Still learning the controls a bit so hoping to improve a bit and get further in the game.
This game is a lot of fun! The cel-shaded look gives the game a very stylized aesthetic, and it'll also make its appearance stand the test of time, unlike those of other games that try to look as realistic as possible. I think that the controls have been improved a bit from the alpha, as well - I don't remember being able to double tap a direction for a side roll, and that kind of input is definitely a welcome addition to the game, as rolling is necessary for some enemies, and it was rather difficult to do in the alpha, but it's not a problem anymore! It's really cool to be able to switch between characters at any given time, and in later puzzles, it can be necessary to do it on the fly, not everyone is capable of combat, and you may have to solve a puzzle while under duress from enemies. Overall, this is a really cool puzzle game, with enough action and variety to keep the player's attention. I recommend it!
I like this game, its like playing a resident evil/sci-fi/survival/multi-character game, i've played it on desura a while back and quite enjoyed it, now that its on steam i had to give it a try again, there are still things that can improve like the inventory, but it is actually fully playable for an early access game, give it a try
Why this is a really great indie game: - metroidvania elements (backtracking, enigmas) with third person action mechanics - graphic: wonderful cell shading like with bright colors. (in game is a lot better than the screenshot ) - immersive atmosphere if you like mystery sci-fi (the movie moon come to my mind) - the puzzles and combats are hard but always fair so great original idea, design and implementation. Can't wait for the next game from these guys! Minor flaws: - UI sometimes takes a little to long to disappear - does not support all types of game pad
The Body Changer is a genuinely intriguing blend of genres: at its core, it's a third person puzzle metroidvania game. But then it also splashes in some tense action gameplay alongside for you to experiment with (and these scenes are pretty tense). The challenges get progressively harder as you complete the objectives, and you get to tinker about with more guns & gadgets as well. And that's before we get onto the fantastic 'body-switching' mechanic - which adds that extra bit of ingenuity to make it a really fun game. It also provides a solid return to the metroidvania genre* (see below). Expect to be racking your brains to figure out the puzzles, going back on yourself, finding objects which you just can't quite lay your hands on ;) Also worth mentioning is the backdrop story and notably the art-style, which help provide an authentic, other-worldy (and eerie) atmopshere. So it has a lot of potential, and with its open-minded devs, hopefully the ideas streaming in from players should be realised to a great standard. I am not trying to over-hype this game (which is a bad thing!), but it really does show a lot of promise, and does a lot of things well. The Good: + Original blend of mechanics. Puzzle, action, themes from survival horror even. All encompassed by its evident dedication to the metroidvania genre. + Brilliant 'body-switching' mechanic. A lot of realised potential for this.. but there's more that's waiting to be explored with this I'm sure ;) + Great devs (only two of them as well!). They have a growing workload, yet they still remain in constant contact with their players. In my personal experience, they have only ever listened and acted on my feedback. (Not directly to do with the game content, but hopefully should turn the faces of anyone put off by the 'Early Access' label) + Art-style is subjective to opinion (we might see some discussions arise in its Early Access stage), but I think it suits very well. + Weirdly eerie. Atmospheric and even frightening at the right times (there's that survival horror coming in!).. Decent SFX + Challenging puzzles & sticks true to metroidvania genre. You work out the puzzle (yes, it might be difficult!), and be prepared to go back on yourself a few times (a key mechanic of the metroidvania genre) The Bad: - Slightly clunky combat mechanics. These I'm sure will get a lot attention though. - Environments could be a bit more .. pretty. In its current state. Minimalist world does suit though (complements the cel-shaded art-style). - Some game progression bugs. - UI needs a lot of work. - Some QA (Quality Assurance) issues (relatively minor stuff though). - Game could be longer (with more varied puzzles/combat sequences)... although it is by no means unimpressive at its current completion time (devs have said they are working on adding more levels). - *EDIT: In my view, I would call this a solid metroidvania title.. however having read other reviews, some might think it doesn't do enough to earn that title. The game is likely to evolve more though to suit that genre if you felt it doesn't quite cut it. - EDIT: Price. I would have imagined this as more of a below £10 (approx. $15) range title. All in all though, this for me has been one of the most interesting games I've played for a while. Its setup very well by this original blend of mechanics, as well as reintroducing a dedicated and fitting return to the metroidvania genre. The devs are great too - and rest assured you will be listened to! (Of course they are also very busy - but they have shown nothing but passion to deliver on this project!) And yes.. I have temporarily renamed my display name in respect to the devs and the game :) EDIT: So having looked back at this review (and also after getting some downvotes), I hope I haven't over-hyped the game and made it seem like something more than it is (in its current state). I do have a lot passion for this game, and I genuinely believe it will be something great -- but some people might not be satisfied with, for example, the 'metroidvania' stamp, or the actual innovation behind the mechanics. I stand by what I've said - because the bottom-line is I do love the game, and I have faith in the devs - but I can understand if people feel it's not cutting it for them. Of course - it is still Early Access, and definitely only *half-finished* at the moment. The devs have stated that they are working on adding more (interesting) levels, and I think there hasn't been a game like this on the market for a little while, at least not presented like The Body Changer has. Thanks for reading anyway :)
In my opinion, The Body Changer is one of the most underestimated games in Steam, considering what it offers.
Since it is not my genre of games, I admit I was skeptical too at the beginning, however the game gradually captured my attention and my curiosity, and never made them drop until the end of it; this surprised me, because only few games nowadays manage to catch me. What it is about... The game takes place into a facility, located on an alien planet, remotely controlled by humans (through cyborgs called SynB's) to purify and use the planet's water. A short movie explains us how this facility was recently tampered by unknown forces, and our mission will be restoring it. For this purpose we'll be using some special SynB's, each of them with specific abilities, and we'll be doing it in synchronous: the most original trait of this game is indeed the ability of "moving" from a SynB's body to another's, in order to solve specifically written puzzles. Said puzzles are the very reason for which I fell in love with this game: they're original, balanced, all different from each other (some differences also being substantials, like complete changes of background, solving them in the dark etc); some of them are harder than others, but that's why you feel immensely proud and satisfact, when you solve them! To clear puzzles we'll use several different tools, from the most classic ones (like boxes and mirrors) to some new ones (the activator for example, a colored ray that we'll be using very often). But the Body Changer is more than this: it's essentially a fusion between puzzles and a shooter based on old arena games. Combat mechanics are very classic (and hard in my opinion :D), but also introduce some more modern features, like the barrel roll, the abilities to attack from behind, stun, and trip enemies; the game also offers a scripted melee attack, the V-Blade attack, which is a very powerful weapon aswell. The game's map is immense, and all zones are properly linked: progression is linear, but not trivial; intuitive, but not simple; so my congratulations to developers for hints' and doors' positions. Furthermore, every character has its own different path in the game; paths that unlock only if all of them are progressing alright, and that will cross from time to time. Scattered through the map there are also small zones, accessible only using the correct tool, filled with collectibles called "d-Disks"; a pleasant addition to the gameplay. What it looks like... I actually adored the graphic style, which has been reason of a lot of criticism; I believe it's necessary to play the game a bit to understand it. The style is deliberately minimalist and it is obtained through a selection of geometrical motives and color matching; both elements are pleasant to the sight, light, and match perfectly with setting. The irregular borders give to the game a touch of cartoon, and a slight distortion that, in union with the ambient sounds, instill a bit of tension on the player, making it for some horror feeling. Game menù is minimalist too, but functional and user friendly; everything (d-Disks, maps, savegames etc) has its own big tab. What are its problems... To be an indie game, The Body Changer is almost bug-free. The only problems I had during my playthrough were related to cache; the game crashed during long session (4h+), and some of the scripts didn't reset (or saved) properly upon reloading a savegame, requiring to quit and restart the game; bullets sometimes went through my targets' head, and then there's the already known "slow run". The fact that some mechanisms deactivate after clearing zones out (and switching to a new zone) makes some of the backtracking, necessary for gathering d-Disks at later moments, unaccessible. The game allows only for autosaves, which is ok, but some encounters are fairly long and difficult, and in my opinion they'd require an extra checkpoint; also it was discomfort for me to switch from relaxing and stimulating puzzles to extremely long and challenging combat encounters, without an half-way between; but these are personal problems, that you may have not. In conclusion... The Body Changer is a game that deserves a chance to be played and explored in all its details. Maybe its real problem is the price being a bit high, which doesn't help a game of this genre, but during a discount, if you're up for something really unusual, it is a closed eyes purchase. Not forgetting that the game comes with achievements and steam cards too.
