The Black Within

Best horror game iv've played in ages. This game was amazing. The visuals, the stereo sound effects. The two houses you search look really good. You get a torch and a lighter but most parts you dont need the flashlight or lighter as the house areas have dim lights anyway. The creepy atmosphere is great and very well done. You won't be running from monsters which is gerat but its the atmosphere and the sudden jumpscares that make this one awesome. The music is great too. The end ws awesome, as I walked to the light, the voiceover guy was like "YOUR ALMOST THERE" YOU CAN DO IT".....which added to the ambience oft he scene, and added to the emotional scene as you walked to the light. The whole game was just fantastic. I suffered one issue through the whole game. The game froze on me for some reason and locked up when I inserted a fuse into the fuse box, I had to exit and reload and redo the the last 5 minutes I had already done. Auto saving but no manual save. I didnt see any auto save icon on the screen so no idea when it saved each time. Awesome game. If you haven't played The Black Within give it a go its great. It took me 1.h 25 to finish the game. You have events to find through the game, and you'll be picking up pictrues with text on and looking at them to progress the game/ 10/10. Don't miss this game if you haven't played it. It seems there aren't any achievements. Great game though.

​​The Black Within is a nice short (~ 60 min) horror game from one single Developer. I really liked the Story and how it's been told. Nice scenery, nice jump scares, which even got me twice, but possibly others more because I am not that easy to scare. The only negative would be that if you start the game, it starts on unlimited FPS, which made my whole PC crash out. (I still finished it, tho. 🙂) So be sure to check the FPS settings before you start the game. If you like games in your steam collection you can play it here, but if you like itch.io you can also play it there and "support" him over there. So now a not really important but sad little side fact, there are no steam achievements, even if there is definitely room and possibility for them. WOULD I RECOMMEND THE GAME ? YES - I would​ ​absolutely recommend this game. Not only because the song is also pretty nice and moodwise, it reminded me a lot about my FAVE GAME EVER (In Sound Mind) but also like said above, the mood and how the story is told is just amazing 🙂 I am definitely excited for "Green Light" his the next game. the game is fun and theres definitely a good horror aspect too it, i would prefer if the game had some chase sequences but for 59p i cant really complain, very good game but did encounter a few bugs.

This was a solid debut game. The first half has some really great creepy atmospheric vibes and some good jumpscares. The second half felt a little rushed with not as much story telling, but it's very minor with any issues I had. I liked this and I think you're on the right track to making some more really great games. Definitely worth the money!

The story is awful. Everything seems out of place. It doesn't make any sense sometimes! There are some interesting lines, though. 2/10.

I really wanted to like this game. It looked good at least. I streamed it and it took a bit over 2 hours to complete when i saw videos on YT of full walkthroughs from 21-50 minutes so I guess I just wasn't able to figure out what to do next most the time. Visually the game looked good. The audio had some issues. The dialogue and main game sounds where really quiet while the jump scares and cut scenes seemed to be on a volume 500% louder then the rest of the games sounds. That made it where I had to keep the in games slider on 2% to avoid blowing our ears out when it would get loud fast. I missed a lot of the storyline due to that so I found it very hard to follow along or get into what was going on the entire game. There where some other issues as well. Overall my chat thought the game was a 2-2.5/5 star game. I would say I felt it was a 2.5/star game due to a few major issues.

I finally gave up and just watched a youtuber complete the game. I've had issues with other games, but this was so buggy for me I wasn't able to complete it.

There is some light puzzles to uncover key items but nothing too annoying! So what is this one? Like the synopsis says, this is Laila, a prominent singer that is willing to go at any length for fame and fortune. No technical issues nor bugs encountered in my playthrough. Perfect UltraWide monitor support. HOWEVER, I'd like to point out that the game is not that well optimized and kept pushing my GPU at full throttle on default settings. Once I fixed the FPS to 120, the game ran better and my GPU wasn't a rocket engine no more. [h1]RECOMMENDATION:[/h1] [b]Simple and short horror walking simulator. You already know those and if you're familiar with that kind of game, THE BLACK WITHIN is a pretty decent one. I recommend you get this game before get the sequel, THE GREEN LIGHT.[/b]

Daje kciuka w górę i cieszą mnie projekty od serca. Fabuła: Wcielamy się w Lailę, która w pogoni za marzeniem postanawia podpisać kontrakt z diabłem. Gra skupia się na eksploracji w poszukiwaniu właściwych przedmiotów i używaniu we właściwych miejscach. Grafika jest czasem poprawna; assety nieszczególnie do siebie pasują, nie dają radę. Np. początkowy pokój miał być stylizowany na biedny, szary i depresyjny, a wyszedł... jak karton. Muzyka - przyjemna. Aczkolwiek dziwiło mnie, że historia kończy się muzyką jak po epickie przygodzie. Rozumiem, że miała ona wywołać emocje, ale za mało czasu poświęcono bohaterce, aby graczowi zaczęło na nie zależeć. A ba - nawet chciało! Tutaj narracja poza wątkiem upadku kuleje - bystre cytaty o lęku nie odzwierciedlają ani decyzji bohaterki, ani... no właśnie, czego? To historia o ambicji, więc bardziej cytaty o pysze byłby właściwsze. Moralizatorstwo potrzebuje większej przestrzeni i trafiać w punkt. Jest i nawet Voice Acting - coś, co uwielbiam w grach; i wyszedł przyzwoicie. Na pewno w finale dobrze dawał się we znaki. Jak najbardziej na plus. Porady na przyszłość: - Staranniej dopracować grafikę - Utrzymać spójność narracyjną (cytaty, historia)
