The Beginner's Guide is a narrative video game from Davey Wreden, the creator of The Stanley Parable. It lasts about an hour and a half and has no traditional mechanics, no goals or objectives. Instead, it tells the story of a person struggling to deal with something they do not understand.

Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
Every market we collect.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 2.57/day in the week to Aug 10 → 15/day in the week after.
Too few observations to say whether a discount moves this store's chart at all: across the last 30 days Steam · Top Sellers · Poland has just 18 day-to-day chart moves that followed a price cut, against 2,498 that did not. We are publishing the count instead of a direction — 20 is the fewest we will draw a conclusion from, and price collection outside the United States began on 6 August 2026.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

the game was a nice experience and all, the plottwist was crazy but if the storyline that is being told is TRUE I can't help but wonder whether the creator (not coda) is really a good person. should this game really exist?

i might not pick up 'the beginner's guide' anymore, cuz every turn, every scene are just 'unforgettable' after several replays over the years. Worth at least one play for you.

Extremely difficult to even describe what this game is. While I did not have the emotional response that I think the game was trying to get out of me, it did make you look at games, game development, and the relationship between the developer, player, and the game itself different. Just like what The Stanley Parable did. I recommend playing this game blindly and with a open mind. It's short but worth playing.

Amazing narrative. It’s short, but effective. It can be interpreted in a number of ways - but at the end of the day, the only thing that matters is what you take away.
This game is very deep. I love the ARG feel of it. As in this game you are exploring the creative works of "someone" that they left behind and trying to understand their thought process to create said games. I think Davey Wreden is a masterful game designer (story wise) and I feel like this game really delves into the pyschological element of someone who loves creating but has fear or aniexity of performing, I think anyone who struggles with seeking external validation and has low self esteem should play this game. I also was deeply moved by the idea of someone using their creations as a release and a way to talk to someone. (albeit talking to yourself) which is really powerful to those who struggle with opening up to others in real life. I highly recomend this game. It is awesome.
