About
The Axis Unseen® is a heavy metal horror game created by one of the developers of Skyrim and Fallout.
Hunt monsters from folklore in a mysterious open world. Discover enhanced sense powers, elemental arrows, magical abilities and journals from people who came to this world before you. Almost all of the UI exists in the world itself.
Beware, the hunter is also the hunted.
Your entire village of Hunters has been slaughtered by the creatures, can you stop them from being unleashed on our world?
“A knockout indie entry in gaming.” - TechRaptor
“Just Purkey Games has made something special… You’re off the edge of the map. Here be dragons. But if you play it right, the scariest thing in this world might just be you.” -Shacknews
“The Axis Unseen is the most Skyrim-like game I’ve played since Skyrim… stripped back and filtered through the likes of Elden Ring and Praey for the Gods.” - The Escapist

The Axis Unseen is a game with deep combat and hunting mechanics. Follow the tracks and blood trails of the creatures. Pay attention to the wind direction so they can't smell you approaching.
The Axis Unseen can be played both as a stealth game or as an intense action game, depending on your personal style and preference.
For people who want a less hardcore experience, the difficulty can be changed at any time and there is even a pacifist mode where you can take pictures of the creatures to unlock things instead. For an extra challenge, there is a permadeath mode.
The Axis Unseen is a game all about immersion and discovery. Your bow shows important UI elements such as how much noise you are making, how much magic you have left and how visible you are. Creatures will track you with sight, sound and smell and and have specific weaknesses.
You have to check your quiver to see how many arrows you have. Tattoos on your hand light up to show your health and active powers.
Can you uncover the mysteries of this world and how to defeat the creatures?

The Axis Unseen features original music by Clifford Meyer, previously of the legendary post-metal bands ISIS and Red Sparowes. It is a unique blend of heavy metal and primitive instruments. The music dynamically adjusts to what is going on in the game. Sometimes it is atmospheric, other times it is intense metal.

Upgrade your senses with the powers of the creatures. See scent particles. Feel the warmth left behind on their tracks. See colors that no human has ever seen.

Your bow and arrow keeps you alive. Upgrade your bow or even find different arrow types such as fire, wind controlling or time distorting arrows. Experiment to see all the different ways the arrows can interact with each other, such as wind arrows making the fire spread faster.

You have a safe area where all of the monsters, powers, magic, equipment and map sections that you find unlock sculptures and a 3d version of the map to look at to help you navigate the world. You can also use this space to seamlessly fast travel around the world without ever needing to open a menu.

Find out what happened to the Hunters and other visitors to this place who came before you and what secrets they uncovered by finding their journals. Where did this world come from? How do you stop the creatures from escaping into your world? As you explore this world you will also make your own journal entries and drawings about the monsters, powers and equipment that you find.
You are the only one who has a chance to stop these creatures from continuing to escape into our world.

The Axis Unseen® is developed by Nate Purkeypile. Nate Purkeypile has been making games for 22+ years and worked on titles such as Skyrim, Fallout 3/4/76, Starfield, Metroid Prime 3 and BloodRayne 2. My goodness this game was quite the adventure for me! At first I was not too into the game, and did refund it. But after trying to watch 2 different streamers play this game wrong, (one of them was Joov) it made me very upset. I knew I had to rebuy it and play it myself. The world is just so large, and unique! I've been trying my hardest to use landmarks and the compass on the hand to keep myself from accidentally going down the same paths! I played it on Easy Mode, cause I was really just terrified of the unknown creatures I faced, but I felt that the ruined a bit of the experience later down the line in the harder areas and more bizarre creatures. I really want to replay the whole game again in a harder difficulty, but I also really want to get all the journals collected! I spent too long scouring the forest area for more, but I was unable to obtain a few. I kinda wish there was a dedicated Power/ Spell to see them from a distance or something. The crows circling overhead did help, but the majority of them just led to more energy from giant skeletons. Anyways, I definitely recommend this game as a "Stealth Archer" Hunting game, very wonderful music, and a wonderful experience!
First of all this game is great. It feels like traveling through Mordor as a Skyrim stealth archer. This game feels so interesting despite its rough edges and boy those edges are rough. I could list all my complaints but they are pretty obvious. I’d rather focus on what this game does right and that is game feeling. Slight spoiler in that you climb a mountain at some point in the game. After the climb I felt like I did climb a mountain and cross a whole kingdom. Every step felt like it mattered on my journey. Watch some gameplay and you will know pretty quickly if you will enjoy this experience.
I just can't get on with this game, which is a shame because I quite like the bow-based combat. There's too many different aspects to take into account, too many abilities, and too many controls to memorise. There's not enough direction - at no point did I feel confident I was going the right way or progressing meaningfully. Plus I couldn't even enjoy the story, as since this is open world-go-where-you-want, I missed some journal entries and couldn't understand what was happening :(
This game isn't too bad, it's a great primal hunting game, it's music is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ AWESOME! and some of the tricks with how to dispatch some of the creatures is pretty cool "you can only see when it's in your peripherals, the head is too armoured, normal arrows are ineffective" and so on, and adding to the unique ways of dealing with them, the creature designs are very well done, some look vicious, some are down right disturbing, some take inspiration from the folklore behind SOME of the creatures you encounter (I can't say for all, there's a lot I am unfamiliar with) and the locations are pretty diverse and only accessible via natural progression and a little exploration I do have a few gripes to list though ... First of all, when I originally tried the game, it had started with a montage that doubled as a tutorial, it was one of the most badass ways I had seen a game open up with and it set the tone of the game pretty well, however, upon getting a computer that ran the game better some time later, I was a little saddened to find the montage had now been moved to the end of the game. At the time of writing this review, I JUST finished the game, the montage was still just as awesome as I remembered, but I can't help but feel it lost it's charm being AFTER the game is finished. Surely there would have been a way to keep the montage at the start then follow it up with the (now) current tutorial just for those who couldn't keep the pace of the montage, but that's just my own thought. The game has a lot of area to cover, and as someone who prefers to cover everything like clear the entire map, collect all the logs, hunt all the different beasts, I combed through the map back and fourth dozens of times and I still missed a noticable number of all those things I listed, there's exploration then there's getting lost in insanity, also, finding where to go WAS a little difficult at times, but that's not as much of an issue, that was usually a result of me getting turned around and forgetting where I been and where I was yet to go. The game has cool designs and such, but the models can also look a little too ... I dunno ... clean? like a little shiney, like things are made of plastic or something, I dunno, just has an awkward shine to it sometimes all and all, I rather enjoyed the game from start to end, despite my few gripes , so it's a thumbs up from me
I really wanted to like this game, but it feels too unfinished and unpolished. In a game where shooting is the main mechanic, a poorly made and frustrating gameplay makes it unplayable. It's also poorly optimized.
This plays like crap. It's choppy, it's janky, and there's a weird floating-ness to it. It just feels like a horrible N64 games at times. Not for me.
I figured that I'd only write a review after truly completing this game; it's awesome. The thrill of not knowing where a threat is coming from, especially if you're trying to do an Eagle run, is honestly terrifying when all you have is a bow and arrows. Granted, you get progressively more powerful with each upgrade, but at the cost of your humanity. And the metal music is a nice touch, it really amps the moment when something spots you amid the more somber tones of the level music. If you are a connoisseur of close combat with a hint of magic, this game is right up your alley. 10/10.
At the main hub the bow and overall brightness and bloom is far too high. Lacks a brightness slider.
Love it! The mixing of mythos, the graphics, the jump scares <3
I absolutely love this game, the world, the soundtrack, all of it
