About

Nigate Tale is a rogue-like dungeon crawler with unique 2D anime art. Fight your way out of a mysterious enchanted castle, searching for materials and loot to buy and craft new equipment, leveling up your character to get new combat skills and befriending cute monster girls capable of boosting you with astonishing magical powers!

In Nigate Tale you play as Roy, a crafty young engineer and adventurer. One day, you were flying in your airplane when a strange cloud sucked you into a strange, unknown world. You crashed in the sewers of a castle, inhabited by strange magical creatures. You have to explore every corner of this ever-changing castle to find all the missing parts… and piece together the secret story of this place, unveiling the thousands-years-old mystery that trapped it out of time and space.

Your mission won’t be easy: you’ll have to fight your way out of the labyrinthic corners of this castle, full of monsters, traps and all kinds of hazards. Every time you die, you will reappear in the same place, as in stuck in a neverending time loop… but the castle will have changed its layout, forcing you to begin your path anew!

Enjoy the thrill of a fast-paced and deep combat system that will keep you on the edge of your seat! Nigate Tale gives you total freedom to choose your own playstyle, with dozens of weapons of all kinds (melee and ranged, slow but strong and weak but fast…), different types of magic, and several skills trees for you to level up, creating in every playthrough a unique character to fight with.

You’ll need to hone your skills and level up to learn new fighting techniques if you are to get out of this castle... But luckily you won’t be alone in this fight: this castle is also inhabited by friendly monster girls, capable of granting you magical powers and even fight by your side… if you manage to befriend them and bring them the right presents!

As you beat enemies in your incursions to the heart of the castle, you will loot gold you can use to buy new gear. But you can also gather materials to craft your own special equipment – and of course, the special items needed to gain the favor of the monster girls!

This game would be ok as a poor man's Hades - but it has so many ridiculous glaring bugs that I wouldn't even call it a finished game. I'm talking about things like text not fitting in the boxes, to the point where it's impossible to read the actual stat numbers, or game NOT applying the actual difficulty you selected for the run, or unlockable items just deciding to stop dropping anymore for no reason, or getting stuck in a dialog and having to just kill the game externally. Trying out different power combinations *is* fun, but all the bugs make it borderline unplayable. The translation is pretty bad too (some parts are left untranslated at all, many typos, etc), and framerate drops to single digits easily once enough objects are on screen.
With how the translations are, and the explanations of skills being so badly written, I'm surprised this game at least is quite visually entertaining. But a short review - the game looks pretty, the dialogue is poor, and the waifus are decent. You don't get much than their still images, but you're gonna be frustrated at how everything just feels janky. It just feels slow, and I just got so bored of it all. Balance is definitely needed, as sometimes I get a strong build RANDOMLY, and a weak build when I TRY. Skill issue? Sure, but because of how things are translated (and the formatting CUTS OFF a huge amount of text usually), can you blame me? Luckily I got this on sale, but the headache isn't even worth the $5. The upgrades get monstrously expensive, so each run just becomes more tedious and grindy than progressive. Hades 1 is a little guilty of this, but some enemies just become absolute sponges for no reason.
The hand-drawn monster girls are fantastic and I like the idea of using gifts to build up social reputations with them but this is otherwise a Hades clone that is inferior in every other way. The combat is tight but the 3D assets are low quality and the game is always running at 100% GPU utilization on a Radeon RX 7600 XT on Windows 11 and it was very distracting, much more demanding games use much fewer resources. The translation was also of middle to low quality where the text would often overflow off the dialog box, have awkward phrasing or straight up be missing dynamic values. I wish there was a better monster girl game in this space.
Pros: - A "Hades"-like game. - Multiple weapons, each with different variations and the ability to improve them. - Multiple "boon"-granting characters that you can have conversations with, give gifts, improve your relationship with to grant additional boons, and customize bonuses. - Character progression with bonuses and abilities to unlock. - In-run bonuses that modify how your weapon attacks work, in addition to the boons. - Multiple bosses that feel like they have some personality in their design. - "Obstacle course" style rooms where your goal is to dodge traps, to break up the battle rooms. - Pretty good art. Cons: - Absolutely terrible English localization. It seems like all the lines were just run through an online Chinese-to-English translator and then they called it good. Some dialog is still just in Chinese. - Text often runs over the box it's meant to be in and sometimes overlaps other text, making it incredibly hard to read. This includes things like instructions and menu screens. The text is also very small and difficult to read (at least on the Steam Deck screen) - Noticeable glitches and bugs. e.g. the weapon upgrade screen just drops the FPS to 20-30 despite being visually pretty simple. I've also had to quit the game because talking to a character the cursor disappeared and I couldn't choose any dialog option - Overall lack of polish. Character movement feels very floaty. - Lack of music diversity, so it gets pretty repetitive. Neutral/Matter of taste: -Every character besides the protagonist (and some of the bosses) is a scantily-clad monster girl. Which, I guess, if that's what you're looking for is a good thing but otherwise is pretty distracting. Overall a kind of middling experience. The feature set is pretty nice, but the execution leaves a lot to be desired. If I could give it a "neutral" review I would but I don't think I can recommend it.
It's a good game, but full of glitches and impossible achievements... It's a pity, but i can't recommend it at the moment. Hopefully they fix it someday...
Game is alright, it plays like an anime inspired Hades and shares the same issues as most Hades' clones: gameplay is a little clunky, balance is off and the story is nothing to care about. Sort of expected for the price and idea. Would have recommended this game if it wasn't for the myriad of bugs which severely affect the enjoyment and aren't going to be resolved, as development for this game was taken over by the publisher, who are no longer allocating time for this game.
算是我买的最后悔的肉鸽游戏,没感觉哪里爽 难的恶心,旧存档还给我删了 今年都过去一半了,没看到一点更新的动静 这游戏是似了吗?
Nigate Tale není dokonalá hra. Není to vybroušený diamant.
